27M Calgary | A little under 30, but I tend to connect better with people a bit older

I know this is technically a 30+ group, so I’ll get that out of the way first. I’m 27, and if that automatically makes this the wrong place for me, totally fair.
I just tend to connect really well with people a little older than me. I like maturity, life experience, people who know themselves a bit better, and conversations that actually go somewhere.
I’m 6’1, Pakistani Canadian, born and raised here, pretty grounded, easygoing, and more into real conversation than surface level small talk.
I’m really into psychology, human behaviour, relationships, attachment, healing, family dynamics, goals, careers, random life theories, and all the stuff that shapes why people become who they are. I can also be completely unserious and joke around for hours, so I’m not trying to turn every coffee into therapy lol.
I work long shifts and genuinely like working, but I also think life is way bigger than a job title. I’d rather have a good career, good people around me, experiences, travel, a peaceful home one day, and actually enjoy the life I’m building.
I’m pretty traditional in some ways when it comes to how I treat people. I like taking initiative, making plans, being dependable, holding doors, making sure someone got home safe, remembering the little things, and actually showing up when I say I will.
At the same time, I like people who have their own life, opinions, goals, career, interests and independence. I think the best connections are when neither person has to shrink themselves.
I’m especially drawn to people who are self aware or on some kind of growth journey. Nobody needs to have themselves perfectly figured out, but being able to communicate, take accountability, laugh at yourself, and actually grow from things goes a long way with me.
I’m open to friendship, grabbing coffee, food, walks, checking out something around Calgary, or just having someone new to talk to. If I happened to meet a woman and there was mutual attraction and something deeper developed naturally, I’d be open to that too, but I’m not trying to force anything.
Mostly just looking for good people who actually want to meet, talk, and build a real connection instead of saying “we should hang out sometime” forever.
If you’re 30+ and don’t mind me being 27, feel free to message me.

[M4F] Alberta

I’m 27, 6’1, Pakistani Canadian, born and raised in Canada, and figured I’d try something different.
I know this is technically a 30+ space, so I’ll be upfront that I’m 27. I just tend to connect better with women a bit older than me. I like maturity, confidence, life experience, and people who are actually comfortable with who they are.
I’m pretty grounded, easygoing, and I’m much more into real conversation than endless small talk. Psychology, human behaviour, relationships, healing, family dynamics, attachment, goals, faith, random life stuff, stupid jokes, all of that is my kind of thing.
I like women who have their own life, opinions, career, goals and personality. I’m not looking for someone to shrink herself or fit into some weird checklist. I actually find independence attractive.
At the same time, I’m naturally pretty masculine in how I approach relationships. I like taking initiative, making plans, being dependable, solving problems, staying calm under pressure, and being someone a woman can actually lean on.
To me, being a provider is also more than money. It’s stability, emotional support, reliability, protection, clarity, and being able to make someone feel safe enough to actually relax around you.
I’m also a romantic guy. I like holding doors, planning dates, little gifts, flowers, surprises, remembering random things you said, checking in, debriefing in the car after something, all the small stuff that actually makes someone feel cared for.
I’m not really interested in chaos or chasing butterflies for the sake of butterflies. Attraction matters, obviously, but I’d rather have peace, affection, laughter, consistency, intellectual intimacy, and the kind of connection where both people can actually be themselves.
I’m big on growth too. I connect well with people who are self aware, maybe on their own healing journey, and capable of looking at their own patterns instead of blaming everyone else for everything.
I don’t think love alone is enough. You can care about someone deeply, but without communication, accountability, effort and growth, it still falls apart. I really believe the grass is greener where you water it.
I work hard, currently do long 12 hour day shifts, and I’m pretty career minded, but I don’t think a job title is everything. I’m more interested in building a good life than trying to impress people with a title.
I’m open to friendship, regular conversation, flirting if the vibe is there, or something deeper if it naturally develops. I’m not trying to force anything.
If you’re 30+, like deeper conversations, and don’t mind talking to someone who’s 27, feel free to message me.

27 | Alberta | Pakistani Canadian 🇨🇦 | Trying this again

I shall try this again lol. I posted here before, but figured I’d give it another shot and be a little more clear about what I’m actually looking for.

I know Reddit probably isn’t the most normal place to meet someone serious and yeah, it can feel a little sketchy, but dating apps aren’t exactly amazing either. So why not try again and see if I meet someone genuine.
I’m 27, MALE , 6’1, Pakistani, born and raised in Canada. I’m pretty grounded, calm, and more Western minded than super traditional. I still value family, loyalty, faith and culture, but I also think a lot about what actually makes a relationship healthy instead of just repeating whatever previous generations did.

Ideally I’d like to meet someone around 25 to 35. If you’re a little younger though, don’t automatically think you can’t reach out. I care more about maturity, self awareness, where you are in life, and whether we actually connect.

I’m not looking for someone who is only chasing butterflies. Attraction matters, chemistry matters, romance matters, but real life is not one long highlight reel. Life gets stressful, people get sick, careers get messy, families get difficult, money changes, looks change. I care way more about who someone becomes when life stops being easy.

That’s also how I see myself as a man. I don’t think provision is enough if a man is emotionally absent. Buying things, paying bills, taking you places, all of that is nice, but the man you choose also becomes part of the environment you live in. I want to be someone who can lead through the storm, not just spoil someone when everything is sunny.

To me, masculinity is steadiness. It’s being calibrated. If the woman I’m with is emotional, overwhelmed, anxious, upset, or just having a bad day, I don’t want to become chaotic with her. I want to stay grounded, listen, understand what she is actually feeling, and still be someone solid beside her. I think consistency creates safety, safety creates trust, and trust is what allows someone to actually soften around you.

I do believe in masculine and feminine dynamics, but not in some weird controlling way. I naturally like taking initiative, making plans, having direction, solving problems, protecting, and being dependable. I’m attracted to a woman who has her own intuition, warmth, softness, wisdom, opinions, goals, career and personality. I don’t think femininity means being weak, and I don’t think masculinity means dominating somebody.

I also don’t want a woman to have to become smaller to make me feel more like a man. I’m not looking for someone who has to be super skinny, give up her career, move in with my parents, cook for an entire household, or fit some perfect wife checklist. I’d rather build our own life together and have something that genuinely works for both people.

I think a lot of men say they want a peaceful woman without asking themselves whether they create an environment where she can actually feel peaceful. You can’t constantly make someone feel insecure, unheard, or alone and then complain that she isn’t soft enough with you.

And I’m definitely a romantic. I like the provider mindset, but I also like the small stuff. Holding doors open, planning dates, buying flowers or gifts just because, writing something thoughtful, surprises, courting someone properly, being gentle with her, remembering little things she said, making her feel chosen. I don’t think being masculine means acting emotionally unavailable.

Honestly, one of my relationship goals is taking someone who has had to be hyper independent or hyper vigilant her whole life and giving her a relationship where she finally feels like she doesn’t have to carry everything alone. Not “fixing” her, just treating her well enough that she can relax, be weird again, be playful, sleep peacefully, and maybe start seeing herself with a little more kindness too.

I’m big on intellectual intimacy as well. Psychology, human behaviour, attachment, relationships, healing, family dynamics, generational patterns, nervous system stuff, faith, goals, why people become the way they are, all of that interests me. I can go from saying something completely stupid to having a two hour conversation about why someone reacts the way they do pretty quickly.

I especially connect with someone who is on her own growth or healing journey. Not someone who claims to have everything figured out, but someone who can look at herself, recognize her patterns, take accountability, communicate when something hurts, and actually work on herself.

I also don’t believe love alone is enough. You can love someone deeply and still be terrible for each other if there is no effort, accountability, communication, patience, or growth. I really believe the grass is greener where you water it.

Looks fade. Money changes. Circumstances change. Character, loyalty, peace, attraction, friendship and the ability to grow together are what I think actually carry a marriage.

I don’t expect every day to feel like a honeymoon. Life will suck sometimes. My goal would be for the marriage itself not to become another thing making life harder.
I want the kind of relationship where we debrief in the car before an event, laugh about everything afterwards, talk through awkward moments, check in with each other, and feel like we’re genuinely on the same team.
I also think this whole generation is becoming way too comfortable with “all men are trash” and “you can’t trust women.” Some men are awful. Some women are toxic. That doesn’t mean everybody is. I don’t want to go into a relationship already punishing someone for what another person did.

Religion wise, I’m not going to pretend I’m extremely religious right now. Islam matters to me and I do want to improve over time, but if you are specifically looking for someone very strict or highly practising right now, I may not be your person. I’d rather be honest about where I’m at.

I’m open ethnicity wise too. Pakistani, Arab, other backgrounds, I really care more about compatibility than matching the exact same culture.
Looks wise, I’m medium slim build and light skinned. I usually prefer taller women, but if you’re short that’s genuinely fine. I’m also into curvier or bigger women, so I’m definitely not someone with the whole “must be skinny” requirement.

Long term I want a stable career, financial security, my own home, travelling together, marriage, kids eventually, and a peaceful household with someone I genuinely like, respect, protect, laugh with, learn from and still choose when life isn’t exciting.
If you’re looking for more than butterflies too, and you want something romantic, emotionally safe, intellectually deep, affectionate, growth minded, and built around two people actually showing up for each other

27 | Alberta | Pakistani-Canadian | Seeing who I connect with

I’m 27, 6’1, Pakistani, born and raised in Canada. I’m pretty laid back, grounded, and probably more Western in how I think than super traditional. Am looking for someone around 25 to 35 who’s actually open to something meaningful if we get along. I’m not super picky about ethnicity either. Pakistani, Arab, other backgrounds, I care more about personality, values, attraction, and whether our lives actually make sense together.Just to be transparent, I’m not very religious right now. Faith still matters to me and I do want to improve over time, but I’m not going to act like I’m super practising when I’m not. So if you’re specifically looking for someone very strict or deeply religious right now, I’m probably not the best fit. If you’re more balanced and also trying to grow, that’s probably closer to where I’m at.
I’m also not looking for some super traditional setup where a wife has to fit a certain mould, give up her career, move in with my family, or live her life around what everyone else expects. I’d rather build our own life together and have something that actually feels like a partnership.
I like women who have their own personality, goals, opinions, career, interests, all of that. I don’t find independence intimidating. I actually think it’s attractive when someone knows who she is but can still be soft, affectionate, and emotionally open with the right person.
One of the biggest things for me is intellectual intimacy. I need someone I can actually think with, not just talk at. I’m really into psychology, human behaviour, relationships, why people think the way they do, what shapes us growing up, attachment, emotional patterns, generational trauma, all that kind of stuff. I can go from a dumb joke to a two hour conversation about why people become who they are pretty quickly lol.
I like questioning things too. Not in an argumentative way, but I don’t really like living on autopilot. I like understanding the why behind things, whether that’s relationships, culture, family dynamics, faith, careers, or life in general. I’d love someone who has her own perspective and can actually challenge mine sometimes.
I’m also pretty self reflective. I care a lot about emotional intelligence, accountability, being able to recognize your own patterns, and actually doing something about them. To me, growth isn’t just reading quotes or saying you’re healed. It’s being able to look at yourself when something goes wrong and ask, what part of this is mine?
For myself, I’m big on being dependable. I like taking initiative, making plans, fixing problems, having direction, and being someone my partner knows she can rely on. I think being a provider is more than just money too. It’s stability, emotional support, protection, consistency, clarity, and making home feel peaceful instead of stressful.
I don’t really believe love alone is enough either. You can love someone deeply and still be terrible together if there’s no accountability, communication, effort, or willingness to grow. I really believe the grass is greener where you water it.
I’m not interested in the whole hot and cold thing or constantly chasing butterflies. I’d rather meet someone who wants peace, affection, attraction, laughter, shared goals, and something where both people can actually relax around each other without constantly wondering where they stand.
Looks wise, I’m medium slim build and light skinned. I tend to like taller women, but height really isn’t a dealbreaker. I’m also into curvier or bigger women, so I definitely don’t have the whole “must be skinny” requirement.
Long term I want a good career, financial stability, my own place, travel, marriage, a family eventually, and just a genuinely good life with someone I actually enjoy being around.
Basically, I’m looking for someone I can be attracted to, laugh with, learn from, build with, and actually feel peaceful around.

Why does UCalgary Campus Security keep reposting Security Services Worker positions?

Does anyone know why the University of Calgary keeps reposting/hiring for Security Services Worker positions with Campus Security?
Is it because of high turnover, staffing shortages, people leaving because of the 12-hour rotating day/night schedule, or are they actually expanding the team?
Curious if anyone who works there or knows the department has any insight into what’s going on behind the scenes.

27M | 6’1 | Alberta | Looking for something serious | Prefer 25–35

I’m 27, 6’1, Pakistani, born and raised in Canada. I’d say I have more of a Western mindset than a “back home” mindset. I still value family, loyalty, marriage, faith and culture, but I don’t believe in repeating unhealthy generational patterns just because that’s how things have always been done.
I want a marriage where both people can communicate properly, have boundaries, take accountability, grow, and still be themselves.
I’m pretty open ethnicity-wise. Pakistani is obviously fine, I’m also open to Arab women, and honestly I care more about compatibility than someone being from the exact same background as me.
I’m ideally looking for someone around 25–35. Physically, I’m medium/slim build and light-skinned. I do tend to prefer taller women, but if you’re short that’s completely fine too. I’m also attracted to women who are a bit bigger/curvier, so I’m definitely not stuck on one specific body type.
I’m also not the type of guy who expects a woman to fit some rigid checklist. You don’t have to be super slim, give up your career, move in with my parents, or fit into some old-school setup just because you’re the wife. I’d rather build our own life together in a way that works for both of us.
I actually like a woman who has her own mind, goals, opinions, career, interests and personality. I don’t want someone who feels like she has to make herself smaller just to make me feel bigger.
At the same time, I am naturally masculine in how I see myself in a relationship. I like taking initiative, making plans, having direction, solving problems, being reliable, protecting the people I care about, and being somebody my partner can genuinely lean on.
To me, being a provider is also way more than money. Obviously I want to be financially stable and build a good life, but I also want to provide emotional safety, consistency, support, protection, leadership, reliability and peace.
I’m pretty grounded in who I am. I value emotional maturity, psychological stability, problem-solving, self-awareness and being able to communicate when something is wrong instead of turning everything into a fight or letting resentment build.
I also don’t really believe love alone is enough. You can love somebody all day, but if there’s no effort, accountability, communication, patience, or willingness to work on yourself, the relationship still isn’t going to work. I genuinely believe the grass is greener where you water it.
I’m big on intellectual and emotional intimacy too. I want to actually know the person I’m with. I like conversations about psychology, life, goals, family, faith, random thoughts, fears, stupid jokes, future plans, all of it.
I’m looking for a woman who’s also past the games and the constant need for butterflies. Someone who values peace, attraction, affection, laughter, shared goals, and the kind of relationship where both people can actually relax around each other.
Someone who wants consistency over confusion, communication over ego, and something that feels safe without being boring.
Long term I want a stable career, financial security, my own home, travel, marriage, kids eventually, and just a peaceful life with somebody who actually wants to build together.
I’m not pretending to be super religious, but Islam still matters to me when it comes to marriage, loyalty, character, family and the kind of life I want to build.
I’m really just looking for someone kind, affectionate, emotionally mature, self-aware, growth-minded, and serious about marriage if we’re actually compatible.
