Ellsworth seems so in your face politically polarized and toxic. I know part if it is John Linnehan, but it just seems so extreme there, especially those stupid trucks or enormous signs people put up. Plus you had that whole petition to remove the city council members. Why is Ellsworth like this? Are other "cities" in Maine like this too?

I'm having a laparoscopic full hysterectomy (leaving ovaries unless something looks wrong) 9/4. I live alone and don't have a social safety net so I'm trying to get an idea how long I wont be able to do certain things. I know everyone is different, but I'm just trying to plan ahead so the more info I can get the better prepared I can make myself. Thanks

Drive again?

Bend down to pick something small up or plug something in?

Do light grocery shopping?

Go full grocery shopping/run errands?

Change your bed sheets?

Do small laundry loads?

Take the trash out?

Any tips for someone who will be alone during recovery?

I'm having a big surgery the Friday before Labor Day (laparoscopic abdominal surgery at a civilian hospital), and originally I thought I might be ok to deal with post-op alone, but I'm starting to realize that it would be wise not to. I'll be staying overnight at the hospital and released the next day.

I moved somewhat recently and don't have any friends that could help me, I also haven't spoken to my family in years and they live hundreds of miles away anyway. Being alone doesn't bother me normally, but it's going to be an issue since I won't be able to lift over a few pounds and won't be able to bend down for a week or 2.

I know the VA offers services for isolated vets in my situation... what department in the VA do I contact for temporary caregiving/at home aid and transportation to and from the hospital?

Not sure if it matters, but I'm in Maine, I'm 100% P&T, and I think I also get an additional SMC for being housebound. I do use the VA healthcare system for all my appointments; the surgery is community care at a civilian hospital because of my location

Did anyone see anything crazy from those severe storms last light? Did anywhere in Maine even get those storms?

I preorded AC Black Flag Resynced (ps5 standard edition) back in April or May and paid in full at time of preorder with my credit card. I picked up the game (and preorder bonus) when it released last Thursday but on my way home I stopped at Walmart, and they had the "day one edition" which had a map and art book, so I picked that up and figured I can just return my GameStop one since its unopened and I have the receipts (preorder and pickup receipt).

I should be able to return it easy-peasy just like any other store, It's still sealed, I have the receipts, and its within the return period, but I know how difficult GameStop can be now. Are they going to give me a hard time with the return? Or refuse to refund it to my credit card and give me store credit or some crap?

I used to be an assistant manager back in the day, I was there when GS bought out EB Games and when they introduced GPGs. I'm glad I left back in 08, and I honestly feel for y'all that have to deal with modern GS metric crap. I used to shop at GS all the time, but I rarely shop at there anymore. I feel like they always hassle me or add GPGs without asking, which is why I'm concerned about trying to return anything.

We all feel it. The current console gen has only go up in price over time, when historically it should go down over time. There have been some BIG price hikes recently, $100, $200, and even $300 price increased on consoles, and these aren't even the first increases! I can already tell that the PS6 and XBOX whatever will be over $1,000 (maybe even over $1,500) and games will be $80+. Normally I get both the PlayStation and Xbox, but I already told myself that I will probably only be able to afford one (which will be the PS6), and even so I may not be able to afford it after these past couple weeks of console price increases.

I'm in my mid 30s and have been gaming since I can remember. Gaming is a huge part of my life and IDK this is all just so depressing

AI is ruining everything. I went back to school to get a degree in hopes of making more money in the future, before AI was really a thing. I just recently got my degree, and I'm certain AI will take my job too (its already starting to)

I want to start by saying that no one should get a pass, and they are horrible disgusting people no matter how old or how new the band is.

I'm in a vinyl sub and yesterday a person posted a picture of an album by the band Brand New and the comment section was very divided. A lot of posts were saying its disgusting that the op even posted a picture of one of their albums, taking about how the lead singer admitted to being a groomer after their last album released (2017) and the band broke up after that. I do agree with some of this sentiment because he IS a terrible person and I would never buy their merch anymore, but is it wrong to listen to some of their music someone already owns or has nostalgia for?

Why is the band Brand New so hated while MANY other bands like Led Zeppelin for example have done significantly worse things involving grooming and SA but no one bats an eye when someone posts one of their albums?

Target is currently running a buy 2 get 1 free on vinyl, ends the 21st. They don't have a ton of video game ones, but I did see the Witcher collection, Civ 7, Zelda breath of the wild, and minecraft. There might be a few more, its worth checking out anyway

Not sure when the sale started, but there's a buy 2 get 1 free going on at both target and Amazon. For amazon it's only a select bunch, but for target (ends on the 21st) it seems to be any vinyl that's in stock.
