Passed the interview but got “pipelined” instead of hired, how long does this usually take?
Interviewed at TD for a Personal Banking Associate role at a branch hiring event. Recruiter called today and said the branch managers were happy with it and I was successful, but they don’t think PBA is the right starting point since I have my IFIC but no prior banking or sales experience. So they want to start me at CEA (teller) instead and said I’d likely be fast tracked to PBA from there. Problem is there’s no role open right now, so I’m being “pipelined” while he reaches out to the recruiters who hire for my area. Background check only happens once something actually opens.
My brother works in IT and told me to be careful, he did 3 rounds with a big consulting firm, got told the same thing about reaching out when something opens, and they never did. So my questions: in retail banking, does being pipelined for CEA actually turn into a role or is it a soft no? How long does this usually take, and how often should I follow up without being annoying? Anything else I should be doing in the meantime?
