Hey, we need a standard rope to steal this car. Go to a gang’s lair alone, kill 16 people, and steal their rope.

And steal those four $6 million flying cars we need them for a heist that’ll pay us $120k. Don’t worry, we’ll get rid of them afterward thx :)

This horrible life-size resin monkey has been haunting me for years.

Every time I visit this thrift store, I run into this horrible life-size resin monkey holding a baby.

It’s been there for several years now, and I take a picture of it almost every time because usually items don't last this long in thrift stores and in find it funny that no one wants to buy it.

Honestly, I don’t understand why. It would make an amazing bedside table decoration, or maybe the perfect passenger-seat companion for your car.

A Swiss abbey is trying to rehome 40,000 records before renovations

The Abbey of Saint-Maurice has to clear out a huge music archive because of renovations.

The collection includes around 20,000 vinyl records, plus CDs and some 78 rpm records.

Most of it is classical and jazz, but there are also apparently unusual pressings, including Japanese editions and Eastern European orchestra recordings.

I don't want to rewrite the article here but i fond it interesting haha.

My first game is 99% finished and ready for itch.io, any advice before I make it public?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working over the past few weeks on a small passion project, and I’m honestly pretty happy with how it turned out.

It’s a chaotic top-down roguelite shooter with paper collage graphics, where you play as an office worker stuck in a rolling chair, fighting waves of hostile office furniture and your weapon is your way to move with the recoil. There is several Weapons with different dmg, recoil and speed.

You collect coins, unlock weapons, build your character, survive waves, and eventually fight a boss.

The game is basically 99% done, I mostly just have a few UX / UI improvements left before release. I’ve already set up the itch.io page privately and I’m planning to make it public soon.

This would be my first actual public game release, so before I hit publish, I wanted to ask:

Do you have any advice for a first itch.io release?

  • common mistakes to avoid
  • stuff players expect on an itch page
  • would it be a good idea to make major updates later, like adding maps, ennemies or weapons
  • marketing / visibility tips
  • anything you wish you knew before releasing your first game
  • What kind of visibility should i expect
  • The game is currently a play on browser but shound i also put a .exe in download

Not trying to promote it yet, just genuinely looking for advice before putting it out there.

Thanks :)

I went to a record fair a couple month ago and found an old Jackson Five record in REALLY rough shape. The seller was super friendly and immediately started explaining that he was only selling it for around 15 dollars because the condition was so bad, but that he still wanted someone to be able to enjoy the music (the record was listenable) without spending too much money. He talked about it like it was normally a pretty valuable record that he was basically letting go for cheap.

I kinda suspected it probably wasn’t a super expensive album, but I still thought maybe I was getting a decent deal. The thing is, I wanted to check Discogs right there, but I didn’t dare.

I felt awkward doing it in front of him because:

  • he was very nice
  • he’s clearly a professional seller
  • I’m just an amateur collector
  • it felt disrespectful, like I was questioning his knowledge or trying to “fact check” him in front of him

So I trusted him and bought it.

Later I checked Discogs and realized the album is worth like $8 in good condition, and mine has a torn sleeve, water damage, writing from the previous owner, etc. Realistically it’s probably worth almost nothing.

So now I’m wondering: in the vinyl community, is it considered rude to check Discogs prices in front of a seller? Or is that just normal and accepted nowadays? I don’t want to come across as a know-it-all or disrespectful
