Jennifer Coolidge as Rhaenyra on Season 4 - for the good of the realm.
love Emma D'Arcy but please by the Old Gods and the New.

love Emma D'Arcy but please by the Old Gods and the New.
We often talk about bad writing on the show referring to narrative and characterisation, but I am also frustrated by the quality of the dialogue in S2 and S3. Same thing happened with the last two seasons of GOT.
Good dialogue matters :/
A couple of curious things re the casting of Rhaenyra; apparently both Oliva Cooke and Hunter Schafer were in the running for the role; in both cases for the role of Adult Rhaenyra.
And - Phia Saban originally auditioned for Young Rhaenyra.
Apologies if this info is already well-known but it is pretty interesting
- How does Aemond keep his hair sleek and straight? It was wavy when he was a child, curly when killing Luke, and crimped when storming Harrenhall
- How big are the saddles on the dragons? Daemon has taken a passenger twice now; Mysaria in S1, and presumably Fareon in the last episode (kind of wish we had seen that actually, for the sheer craziness of it).
And presumably Aemond will give Alys a ride on Vhagar (no giggling please)
- Why is Daemons bedroom security so lax? Rhaenyra just walks in and climbs into bed with him
If anyone has any other random thoughts do add them :)
Random intrusive thought for the day
Off the top of my head:
-More battles, e.g Gullet
-Scenes between characters that have so far not/interacted, e.g Daemon and his daughters (according to sth Matt Smith has said)
-Sex-appeal /female eye-candy (Alys makeover)
-New costuming, e.g Aemond armour/wavy hair
-Bad-assery, e.g mean Rhaenyra (supposedly) and cold Aegon
-More dragons, e.g Sheepstealer and Tessarion
- Expanded character-list, e.g Black Aly, Daeron (!)
If these are true, theyre pretty positive, although a lot of them are superficial adjustments to the show
How would you react if you discovered sth about him that wasnt to your liking? Would you be able to separate the art from the artist?
I ask because I think a lot of his fans seem to like him not just as am actor but as a person too, even though we know little about him.
I remember just before S2 came out, dreading scenes of Aemond and the Madame, and now we have Alimond pending..... Is it just me, or is anyone else mildly crushed by this?
Has anyone on this sub watched OITNB? I looked up which episodes had been written by Hess, and for those who are familiar with the show, it does explain quite a bit of her work on HOTD
I love different theories, haha, and here's one of them.
There are several very similar pairs. Prince Targaryen and a woman associated with the old gods. The meeting place is the Riverlands and Harrenhal, and there is often a connection with the Island of Faces. This place is a place of power for the Children of the Forest.
According to legend, during the war between the First Men and the Children of the Forest, hundreds of the latter gathered on the island of Faces to appeal to the Old Gods with songs, prayers and a monstrous sacrifice. According to one version, the weirwood was saturated with the blood of a thousand captives, while another claims that it was the blood of the offspring of the Children of the Forest. And the gods responded to the call, and the giants awoke in the depths, and the whole of Westeros shook and trembled. Gigantic cracks opened up in the ground, swallowing the mountains and hills that had sunk. Then the sea waters gushed in, and by their force Arm of Dorne was broken and shattered.
At the end of the Dawn Age, following many centuries of fighting between them, the isle is where the First Men and the children signed the Pact ending their wars against each other. In celebration, every weirwood on the island was given a face, so that the gods would witness the pact.
With the signing of the Pact, the order of the green men was formed to tend the last remaining weirwoods in the south. The Andals failed to conquer the green men, so some maesters have conjectured that children of the forest survived the Andal invasion on the isle.
In all these cases, the prince falls in love so much that he breaks off the engagement or leaves his wife, despite all possible problems.
Alys and Amond. Meeting at Harrenhal. Aemond was engaged to a girl Baratheon, but he may have married Alys (though only according to her). Alys worships the Old Gods, Sabitha Frey found her naked in the godswood, which looks like either praying or performing some kind of magical ritual.:
“The castle stood empty no more than three days before Lady Sabitha Frey swooped down to seize it. Inside she found only Alys Rivers, the wet nurse and purported witch who had warmed Prince Aemond’s bed during his days at Harrenhal, and now claimed to be carrying his child. “I have the dragon’s bastard in me,” the woman said, as she stood naked in the godswood with one hand upon her swollen belly. “I can feel his fires licking at my womb.”
It was said that Aemond was obsessed with her, which sounds like a description of the effects of magic.:
“two men had become rivals for the affections of the wet nurse Alys Rivers, who had used love potions and philtres to inflame their passions. Septon Eustace echoes the dwarf in part, but says it was Aemond alone who had become besotted with the Rivers woman, to such an extent that he could not bear the thought of leaving her.”
The next similar couple is Duncan and Jenny. Duncan meets Jenny in the Riverlands, and her companion is literally a Child of the Forest. Duncan fell in love so much that he broke off the engagement, which led to a rebellion and he renounced the throne. However, Jenny and the Ghost of the High Heart end up at the royal court, and the Ghost of the High Heart induces the last Targaryens with a prophecy.
And the next couple is Rhaegar and Lyanna. The meeting is also at Harrenhal, and Lyanna's friend Howland Reed arrives from the Island of Faces. Rhaegar is married, but it doesn't bother him, and eventually the well-known events take place.
I do not exclude that the "zero" case is Maegor and Alys Harroway, who was also from Harrenhal, and Maegor left his wife.
I have a hunch that the Children of the Forest, defeated and driven from their own lands by humans, have chosen a different tactic. They couldn't defeat humans with weapons or magic in open combat, so they decided to infiltrate their system from the inside. And all these cases are their attempts to infiltrate the royal family in order to change the situation from the inside. The ultimate goal is to regain control of Westeros by bringing his candidate, Bran, to the throne (the actor who played Bran said that Bran on the throne is really grrm’ ending). I think some details have been changed in the show, but that's exactly what Alys’ goal is in the show.
I hope that this topic will be explored in his visions, and we will see what he really wants. In fact, Aemond could easily have won the throne-the council said he was the heir. All he had to do was smother Aegon with a pillow. Aegon is badly injured, and most people won't be surprised by his death. And anyone who suspects something won't prove anything anyway, and the rider of Vhagar is untouchable during the war, no one will do anything to him. And he would have become king himself. However, he did not do that. So I really think that Aemond might have wanted to become a war hero, a cool dragonrider who would be talked about with fear and admiration, and leave his name in history.
Its more or less canon that Daemon and Aegon should be because of deleted scenes of Daemon in Pentos with the serving man, and Aegons collection of toys in his room.
Other possibilities based on the novel:
Rhaenyra, special visits to Laena and Daemon
Jace and Cregan
Others?
Such an exciting opportunity for him. Tom Glynn-Carney and Ryan Condal, amongst others, are set to also speak.
