I just got into using frogs. By far one of my favorite baits now

Never gave them time or used them in the right situations. The other day I went out and spent 8 hours throwing only a frog. It was amazing. I learned so much in that one session while also losing the most fish ever, a couple would have been PB's for sure. But the quality of the fish I was catching definitely went up. Went back yesterday morning and got a few more that were a tiny bit bigger (4lbs).

Don't make fun of my net, my gunnel walls are high and my back hurts 😭

SD region Costcos finally got Picahna in, but....

Edit: Picanha

What an absolute rip. I've been waiting twenty years for our region to get these in. Imo it's the best meat there is. I've been reverse searing caps (fatless) for awhile now and have it so dialed in that we can't even eat steak anywhere else. I was assuming with the amount of fat that's on these things that they would be a bit under per lb in price vs the ones without fat.

Nope. Same price. 9.99 per lb. Why is this a big deal? Because I opened a couple to cut while I was working (since the Cryovac got punctured) and when I trimmed the fat it was literally 50% of the product. Some had even less meat underneath. While I know the importance of the fat, it's just insane to me that we're charging the same for fat off which is 100% meat minutes the tiny blue skin you peel off. So essentially, if you buy one that's 6lbs, you're only getting maybe 3lbs of meat.

The markup on them is insane as well. Our department average IMU (item Mark up) is 10-11%. But I saw we are buying these at $5 something per lb. Not sure what the actual IMU percentage is since I didn't look and there's other buying factors involved but damn, come on Costco. This is almost as bad as the "Extreme tenderloins" we sell.

Guess I'll be sticking to fat off for now until the buying office gets their heads out of their ass but that's a pipe dream.

I'm so saltwater rusty I can't tell the difference between hooking a big cuda or a yellow 😂🔫

First time on the Sea Watch, I usually stick to the half days or the malahini out of HM. But man, this captain knows what he's doing. We chased the schools of yellowtail and got them to come up on every stop. I just happened to not be one of the lucky ones. Great trip though. It's nice having a crew that doesn't just anchor down when 2 calicos are caught and sit there for an hour.

2016 Chevrolet Colorado LT V6 reccuring AC engagement issue

Two years ago I noticed my AC started to have issues. It wouldn't engage unless I would rev the engine. Then as more time went on, it got harder and harder to engage, I would have to get the RPM over a certain amount for the cold air to start coming out. Then it stopped working all together. I took it to a shop and they said they would check it out and call me back. They didn't call back the next day so I called them and they said oh ya, it was the compressor, we went ahead and replaced it. 1100 bucks. Ok Cool that was super shady and unprofessional but whatever, my AC works again.

Two years later, my truck is doing it again. It would be random at first, I'd start her up and sometimes the AC would engage, sometimes it wouldn't until I started driving. Now I have to really get the RPM up for it to work every time. Just had the alternator replaced as that happened to go out as well.

Any suggestions on what to look into?

Y'all need to get a scale before claiming a fish's weight

It's getting kinda crazy in every fishing sub. Why does everyone think their fish is 5lbs? Here is my example. Not the best angle since I didn't have anywhere to set my phone but in my left hand, the larger fish, she weighed barely over 4lbs. The fish in my right hand was right over 3lbs. If you don't own a scale stop posting the weight!

My son and his band just released their first single. They are 15/16 years old. This is Myth.

Just wanted to share their first single they put out. So proud of these boys and what they have accomplished in such a short amount of time. Tons of hardcore/metalcore/deathcore influence and they have already had 2 live shows that they absolutely crushed and have 3 more lined up.

Accidentally took a nice wallpaper photo yesterday morning

First time I've been on my local lake with a bunch of fog but it sure was nice to have before it got to 98 degrees!

When nothing works, a shakey head always seems to for me. What's your skunk buster?

So much shad everywhere, they won't even take shad imitation baits. Resorted to the bait I have most confidence in no matter what water I'm fishing. Shakey heads are stupid easy to fish and stupidly effective. I used to resort to drop shot but I've found my hook up ratio and water coverage is far better with the shakey.

What do you guys do when you just need to catch a fish?

Surf fishing areas for LEOs in Carlsbad

Just looking to take my two boys out, sit on a beach and soak a bait and possibly cross a species off our list. We usually go to CB to fish for BSP and Corbina but we never long rod it. Looking to post up for the day but I don't want to be in the way of surfers or swimmers. Any suggestions?

Ready to throw some big boys

Daiwa Tatula Elite swimbait rod

Daiwa Tatula 300 6.3

Savage gear Scandal 10inch

Was using a Daiwa DX swimbait rod rated to 8oz with a Lexa 300 and while I could lob the heavier baits just fine I wanted something a bit lighter with a higher lure rating. The elite is rated to 12oz and feels a lot more well suited for the job.

The scandal is an amazing lure. They took everything that made the deps 250 great and made it even better while fixing the flaws of the deps. The self draining carrying case is pretty awesome too.

Choice Top Sirloin Cap roast reverse seared on pellet smoker

I've spoiled my family with cooking Top Sirloin caps for the last twenty years it's hard for us to eat anything else.

Smoked at 190 for an hour till 130 F, then seared both sides for a few minutes at 500 till 145 F, rested for 30 minutes.

And because I know it's coming:

  1. I do not cut caps with the grain. Regardless of what people say I prefer it this way

  2. No it's not picahna, it has to have the fat cap to be called that

Sometimes we do special cuts for ourselves

Ribeye cap roast, before steaking it out. By far the best piece of meat off the entire steer, imo. I prefer reverse searing whole meat/roasts.

Is this a school of bass feeding on shad on my radar?

Still suck at reading sonar, I mainly use MSI for finding structure and then DI for seeing what the bottom terrain looks like. We couldn't find any fish in the shallows all morning but then found this massive area where it appeared all of the fish were. I'm guessing it's bass feeding on shad but just wanted more experienced anglers to chime in.

We threw everything at them all morning and they wouldn't touch a single thing except when I decided to troll at 35ft with a spoon. Got one 2lber out of countless massive schools.

My sons and I started a tradition of putting "trophy" stickers on our boat whenever we get a new species

Still trying to get the crappie and common carp trophy but we rarely go for either of those.

Edit: Anyone else SUPER annoyed with how I placed the stickers because now I am after seeing it 😑

Travel rod for big swimbaits and glide baits

Looking for a good travel rod for bigger baits ranging from 2-7oz. Rod will be paired with a Daiwa tatula 300 and daiwa lexa TW 300.

I was looking at the okuma guide select travel rod but it seems a lot of people say that the connecting joints are loose. So then I started looking at the Saltiga MH travel rod that's rated up to 80lb braid but it doesn't give a lure rating and I'm wondering if it's too much rod for this application since it's meant for saltwater.

Any suggestions?

How fast can you beat a biome?

Just got plat for the game. Loved every minute of it, just like the first. Upon grinding through the Carcosan Cartographer trophy, I found that I could beat Biome 3 in 2:46 seconds with every new cycle, but could never beat that time. But I got it more consistently. How fast could you beat Biome 3 starting a fresh cycle?
