Practice School stats for BITS Goa MSc Economics.
For people who don’t know how the BITS dual degree system works: the dual degree is usually structured as 4 years of coursework + 1 year of internship, where the internship year is split into two six-month Practice School semesters: 5-1 PS and 5-2 PS.
For most good companies, especially in finance, students usually have to go through an interview/selection process to get allotted. Also, most finance companies do not come for summer internships. They mainly come through the Practice School system
This is also why many dual degree students prefer doing both semesters of Practice School instead of doing a summer internship. If a dualite does a summer internship, they may have to stay on campus during 5-1 and would only be able to do one semester of PS. majority students prefer PS over summer internships.
The batch strength is around 82 students. Some companies like UBS and a few others are still left, so the remaining students are also expected to get allotted. The coverage should be close to 100%. MSc Eco + CS Avg is 1.5 LPM and Median 1.46 LPM with 43/48 alloted, non interaction rounds still pending, will be 100 pc by the end.
Overall, Msc is a really good option at BITS. Even though people call it a five-year degree, technically you spend only around four years in college and The stipends are also quite high compared to normal internships in the market.
Recently came to know that Morgan Stanley offers 3.5 LPM stipend and 42 L base at old IITs for their Strats role while offering 1.25 LPM stipend and 21 ish base at BITS (all 3 campuses) for the same role through PS2. Are their other companies that do the same ?
