In order to get rid of these SPAMMERS who keep posting about non-related topics. Everyone spam report unrelated posts. I’m sorry to make a post like this but this subreddit needs some PEACE and QUIET
It’s like I make a high quality post, and I only post twice a day to follow spam rules, and everything is fine, but then 2 Weeks later the stupid AI moderation deletes half my posts. Can we PLEASE fix this
My theory is that they were either Greek pirates, or Egyptian Warriors, what do you guys think?

im going to get a little personal here, so if you are uncomfortable I would recommend you scroll past this post. As a young Christian male I often struggle with this addiction. While I don’t do it while watching 🌽, it is still a major issue for me. Does anyone have any tips to break the cycle? Im closing in on four years of doing this and I desperately want to stop but can’t.
The empire had constant palace intrigue, but it was often more about ceremony and symbolism than just violence. Emperors could be humiliated by being forced to stand barefoot before rivals, dragged through the streets, blinded, or forced into monasteries.
When the Latins first met the Greeks of southern Italy, they referred to them as “Greci“, and Southern Italy was called “Magna Grecia” or “Great Greece“ by the Latins. This term is still used today by historians. When the Romans conquered Greece proper, they referred to the area as Grecia, even though the Greek word for Greece was Hellas. Today the Latin term is the dominant term used by the west (the east uses another term, I will probably make another post about it). A more accurate way to name the regions would be to name Southern Italy “Greece” and to call What is now Greece ”Hellas”
The Byzantine Empire knew that their geographical position wasn’t the best, and they wanted to prioritize diplomacy over endless warfare. Byzantine courts played a big role in diplomacy and peacemaking. They did this by offering things like treasures and gifts to the royal family of other empires as a sign of gratitude. However courts also used common religions with empires like the Bulgars to promote unity instead of constant war and divisions. These courts also commonly sponsored royal marriages between the Houses of Byzantium and which ever other empire they were negotiating with.
This process was called ostracism. People would write someone’s name in a pot to petition to remove them from Athens. The whole idea behind this was to stop potential tyrants from taking power down the line, or getting rid of suspected criminals or traitors
The Byzantine spy network was one of the earliest organized intelligence systems in history, making the Byzantine Empire one of the first states to develop a professional approach to espionage. Through diplomats, merchants, military scouts, and secret agents, the Byzantines gathered information about enemy armies, foreign governments, and potential threats. Their spies helped the empire survive by warning leaders of invasions, influencing foreign rulers, and providing valuable knowledge about rival powers such as the Persians, Arabs, and various European kingdoms. This intelligence network allowed Byzantium to rely not only on military strength but also on diplomacy and strategy. However, as the empire weakened due to economic struggles, repeated invasions, and the loss of territory, its intelligence system gradually declined. After the fall of Constantinople in 1453, the Byzantine spy network disappeared along with the empire itself.
The dialect is called tsakonian, while mainly found in southern Peloponnese, some small communities still speak this language in mainland Anatolia.
The Tsakonians were a minor city state during the Peloponnesian War, and eventually became a defacto part of Sparta
