Many hotels I've stayed at this sweaty summer in the UK don't have A/C. I can understand this. But what I don't understand is why I can't open the windows to let fresh air in - they all seem to only open a crack. There are normally opening windows and balconies in hotels everywhere else in the world, and I'm not aware of an epidemic of defenestrations there. Is this a law here?
It seems to happen everyday - there's a perfectly good bike or backroads path that other apps (cycle.travel) take you on, but Komoot happily routes you along the A Road (aka superhighway of death) next to them instead.
I just don't get it. Doesn't Komoot exist to route cyclists around busy car routes? Why wasn't the first line of code in V1 of the app many years ago "avoid highways"? I can see the alternatives on the Komoot maps - it knows they're there - so what is going on here?
I often seen bike route signs in France (the standard green ones, but with numbers, no names) that I can't find on any maps. For example, part of my route today was from Carentan-les-Marais to Sainte-Mère-Église. That's around 15km, and each turn had a bike route sign with either the number 52, or the numbers 5 and 2. Is there a map somewhere where all these routes are listed? They weren't on francevelotourisme.com as far as I could find. Thanks.
I want to bike to the town of Vire, France. Komoot lists two: Vire, and Vire Normandie. They each go to random points about 10 km away from the actual town of Vire, in different directions. Komoot worked fine on my trip across Europe last year, seems totally broken this year.
Here's the most recent example. Coming from Bruz, France I choose Dinan, France city and this is where it takes me - 8 km from Dinan. This has happened a few times on my bike tour this year, don't remember it happening at all last year. Anyone know what's going on? Thanks.
At least of youtube tourers, there appears to be an even mix of those using front vs rear panniers. Let's ignore bikepacking setups for this discussion, or having them on both front and rear, which I know is popular, but I don't have that much gear.
I know some carbon forks can't hold much weight, but I've got a steel fork, so not an issue. If you could only pick one setup, what are the factors leading you toward one or the other? Or does it just not matter. Thanks.
I'm in a cycle where Claude makes a change, it doesn't work, and I have to tell it to test by suggesting a test, eg: Run code and see if indeed X is greater with the change after Y happens. Then it sets up the test and realizes its change didn't work. Does anyone have tips for instructing Claude to think up and run a good work check automatically? Or should I add to the initial prompt. Thanks.
Can any one give a reason for this? This is a Decathlon Rockrider bottle cage. The screw holes are about 25% too close together. I thought this distance was standard? It did come with an odd looking rubber thing...and no instructions. Thanks.
I'm in SdC and hung out a bit on the Camino Frances route this morning, thinking I would see lots of hikers headed out of SdC and onto the trail. I did indeed see hundreds of walkers - all headed in the other direction, the last mile to the Cathedral SdC. It was only about 10:30 AM, so I confirmed with one girl that she was indeed on the last mile of her walk - yup, just got up early.
I figured it made no difference which direction you did the walk, though of course I know "traditionally" you end up in SdC. Is there some other reason nobody does this backwards? Thanks.
