Thinking about converting my old Peugeot road bike into a fixed gear – where do I start?

Hi everyone,
I’m completely new to the fixed gear scene, so sorry if this is a basic question.

I have an old Peugeot road bike at home (very similar to the one in the photo) and I’m thinking about restoring it and converting it into a fixed gear because I really like the clean, minimalist look.
I have no idea what parts I would need, whether the frame is suitable, or what the approximate cost would be. Is this a realistic project for a beginner, or would it be better to buy a complete fixie instead?

I’d appreciate any advice on:
What parts are required for the conversion.
What I can keep from the original bike.
A rough budget for doing it properly.
Anything I should watch out for with old Peugeot frames.

Thanks!

Les Paul Tribute 2017 HP Faded Honey Burst

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share my Gibson Les Paul Tribute High Performance in Faded Honey Burst and get some opinions on the mods/current setup.

The guitar originally came with the G FORCE auto-tuning system, but I replaced it with Schaller locking tuners. I think the exact model is Schaller M6 90 Locking 21.0 3L/3R C.

The original titanium zero-fret adjustable nut was also replaced with a 3D-printed nut, which honestly works great so far. I also added a String Butler.

It’s currently set up in Drop C with Ernie Ball 2627 Beefy Slinky 11–54 strings.

Other changes:

  • New stainless steel frets, I think they are Jescar 57110
  • Seymour Duncan Nazgûl in the bridge
  • Original neck pickup still installed ’57 Classic
  • New original Gibson knobs
  • Schaller S-Locks M strap locks

The bridge pickup is great for heavier stuff, but I’m thinking about putting a P94-style pickup in the neck, kind of inspired by Lee Malia’s Les Paul setup. I like the idea of keeping the bridge aggressive while having something more open/raw/single-coil-ish in the neck.

LTD EC-01 vs EC-1000ET which one would you choose?

Hey everyone,

I’m currently looking at two ESP LTD models: the EC-01 and the EC-1000ET.

I’m leaning more toward the EC-01, mostly because I really like single-pickup guitars and I’ve been wanting to buy another one. That said, the EC-1000ET also looks really nice and I feel like I might be getting more guitar for the money with that one.

Does anyone here have experience with either of these guitars? How do they feel, sound, and hold up overall?

Also, do you think the current price is fair? I’d be interested to hear what you paid for yours.

The main thing I don’t love about the EC-1000ET is the 24 frets. It just feels unnatural to me on a Les Paul-style guitar. I used to have a Les Paul Prophecy with 24 frets and the guitar looked and felt strange to me because everything seemed shifted. I don’t really play above the 20th fret anyway, so I’m not sure if the extra frets are worth it for me.

Any thoughts or personal experiences would be appreciated.
