My m2 problem

Hello all

So after a huge amount of dabbling on my search for a new “one shoe fits all” car I’ve settled on a long standing dream of an m2

No not the henious revised one as of recent , I mean the f87 m2 from about 10 years ago

But I cannot make my mind up on spec

Colour doesn’t phase me that much, but performance does

So

OG or comp is my first question
Manual or dct is my second question

I’m dabbling the idea of an og but open to all
Cheers

How cooked am in

12a rotary

The car is leaking a blue ish fluid from just under the rear rotor exhaust port

The coolant is pink oat so it’s not that
It maintains temperature and the coolant in the expansion tank hasn’t visibly changed colour

Will pull the oil out tomorrow

Dead cluster

Hello all

The car has developed an odd issue where the entire cluster has just died

Putting in a new fuse occasionally fixes this for a very small amount of time. Unsure where to start looking on that front

New to the world of rx7s

Hello all,

As a recent deal done on my mg zs 180 (for anyone not British give it a google) , I have acquired an FB RX7

I know about rotaries in as much as how they work but this is my first ownership experience and on top of that the engine has been built to quite the performance spec at 220hp I’ve got a spec list as long as my arm

But anyway / how on earth do I look after that . I’ve had performance cars before and know of servicing but is there any rotary specific stuff I should be doing outside pre mixing my fuel to help look after it .

I’ve loved and wanted one for years so the last thing I want to do is kill it not doing a basic task or thing I didn’t know to do

Cheers

Chinese car manufacturers

So,
The news has just come that VW group is laying off 100k of its staff to save money as a direct counter to being undercut. By the end of 2026 BMW will of layed off 7700 members of staff , Mercedes Benz will be laying off 108k . Thats just the German manufacturers. All are doing it in an attempt to cut costs to have them undercut less

But you can’t undercut Chinese manufacturers, they don’t have to pay staff minimum wage and they don’t support the consumer later down the line. You’re effectively purchasing a plagiarised product because it’s no secret (example the jaecoo 7 pictured above) they’re just stealing design off the European competitors

What’s actually the solution?

The automotive sector employs 13.7 million Europeans and car manufacturer ing is a huge source of income for countries. The way it seems we’re on the brink of having it collapsed by the HUGE influx of Chinese stuff.

The uk is a particularly bad contributor to this issue. Last year we purchased 285k Chinese cars which makes up just over 15% of every new car registered new last year. I don’t see a way anyone can counter this. The champagne taste lemonade budget crowd will not stop purchasing them and they’re causing harm

Your regular punter will try and tell you they come well specced for the price but that’s half the problem . They can because they cost so little to produce . Having worked in the motor trade for a while now I’m seeing them come through on a semi regular basis and they’re not built to even remotely the same level of quality. We’re talking android based entertainment , plastic fantastic interiors , horrible driving dynamics but this seemingly doesn’t put people on in an ever consumer world where people care less and less for longevity of a product and everyone can affford everything with 10 year finance agreements

Why buy a nice service history 3 year old BMW when you can buy a brand new jaecoo 5

Am I going mad or is this a genuine issue staring us in the face we’re just ignoring for convenience of saving money on the forecourt . It should be known both the old Honda and Nissan plants have been re purposed to manufacture Chinese cars to dodge shipping costs so at that point they can sell even cheaper

What can even be done at this point?
200% rrp tax?
Hugely sting dealers?

I genuinely see our European competitors collapsing within 10 years and I think it’ll take losing a legacy brand like Volkswagen to open people’s eyes . Volkswagen are currently in a severe financial crisis and very close to bankruptcy. It should be known how much money our legacy manufacturers actually make the counties they’re based in.

It just seems like another hopeless situation on our one way trip to a perfect real life recreation of cyberpunk

A year and a bit later

So it’s about 18 months since volume 9 was launched on unbound and almost 4 years since unbound itself launched

And I can’t help but think that with volume 9 there was very real promise they where doing the right thing . I loved the lockdown game mode and merely supporting it by implementing different challenges etc would have made it awesome. It was the game equivalent of that Bob the alien shaking jelly meme regarding content creation

I’m well aware we’re currently unlikely to see another title . For reference the distance between payback and heat was 2 years, heat and unbound was 3 years. This year marks 4 years of unbound with no trailer or even suggestion there will be another so this genuinely seems to be the last one. But I do feel it had genuinely started to find its identity. If they did another hypothetically what would you even include. Surely EA could save a huge amount of money on ideas boards by merely leaving that decision to fans of the franchise . But arguably then you’re just making a fan service product.

Given a hypothetical situation you’re put in a creative holding the reins situation what would you guys even include. Would you just re master the old games and let fans of the franchise froth at the idea of a 4k 60fps rock port without the piss filter

Who knows

Assistance required

Hello all ,

Hoping to get a small group together to sort out the two rare cars that need online engagement

Mainly the carbon uberschall 8 , struggling to even have a lobby that engages in challenges let alone one that goes though them to make unlocks

Would also like to unlock the diamond p12 but I doubt this is happening in 2026 considering it was a unicorn at launch

Cheers

Training in the wrong career

Now I’ll keep it brief but i many years ago bought into the idea that if I make my enthusiasm (cars) my job (spray painter) I would enjoy my job

Fast forwards 4 years and I’ve discovered I’m earning effectively ruining my physical health for not much more than minimum wage , I’ve totally fallen out with my hobby and genuinely find myself totally miserable going to work

Insurance companies would dictate to you a 7 hour job should take 3 because that 4 saved makes _them_ money

Debating re training but I have no idea what in , I can’t continue working with cars because at almost 24 my knees and back hurt every day and the “banter” of a motor based work place isn’t funny it’s just irritating. People in the same trade tell you it gets better when you get 20 plus years experience but that doesn’t sound ideal to me .

Has anyone gone from a manual labour job into a quiet type office based employment or something like that. I’m debating re training in something with more earning potential but I’m generally confused because I’ve wasted the time I could of gone to uni learning to paint cars

Xbox ally purchase

So recently I bought an Xbox ally, the white one not the £1000 black one

Do I plan on playing all the games I play on series x with it? Absolutely not

My actual plan was to assemble 360 stuff and so on handheld

But I have no idea how, can someone point me in the direction of some good YouTube tutorials or something

Reviews claim it’ll struggle to run cyberpunk fully ray traced etc but I’ve come to the conclusion it probably won’t struggle on need for speed underground seeming as I could play that on my phone 7 years ago

Getting back into music production

I’ll cut the general rant short but effectively I was passionate about music production in college and got an A level in it some 7 years ago . A tale as old as time being that I got a job etc stopped doing it and here we are where I can’t remember anything

I had a full version of logic which I should still have , is there any good courses to get back upto speed .

Cheers

Home ownership (pros cons and advice)

Hello all,

Like most some early 20 year olds , now is around the time my parents are upping the pressure to grow wings and leave the nest so to speak.

I and my girlfriend are both in good jobs and have a combined income of arounddd 60k

Here’s the thing we don’t quite get and I’m just trying to figure out

The bank will not provide any level of mortgage for anything less than a 14% deposit or there abouts so basically 15k on a small home in the north or a flat. At least according to their affordability calculator do daah

So this leads to the idea of renting . Which in my area on average is about £800pm , split over two people is £400 each

Is this dead payment I should avoid or would you personally move out rented and continue to save religiously until you could buy your own home

I would love to buy a house, my partner is complete indifferent about owning one but I think it gives me more later life options . Or should I just live in the moment and move out rented for now because retirement isn’t guaranteed anyway

Open to all opinions on the matter , forgive my lack of understanding really it’s a new thing to me
