Big Wins and Close Losses

I thought this was kinda interesting…

Since 2022, Notre Dame has won 45 games.

The 3 point playoff win over PSU in 2024-25 and the win by 3 over Navy in 2022 were the only wins by less than 7.

During the same time period, 6 of the 11 losses were by less than 7.

No idea what this means and I don’t really have a point, but we have had a lot more tough losses than close wins in recent years.

A great Club Sandwich?

I’m craving a serious club sandwich today. Not anything too gourmet or outside the box, just an outstanding traditional club sandwich. The kind you find in a diner where the bread is toasted just right, the meat is juicy, bacon and lettuce are crisp.

Any recommendations? Suburbs?

In 1992, a retiring beat cop was asked to share any funny anecdotes from his time patrolling Maxwell St.

I dont think that was quite what the interviewer was expecting.

Scammed by Digital Services

I discovered last night that for 6 years Amazon has been charging me around $20 a month in digital services such as Bedtime Stories, Sounds of Thunder, and Kids+.

I never signed up for these but imagine some sort of free trial was offered to my four year old daughter via Alexa.

I didn’t catch the problem because I have been such a loyal and consistent customer of Amazon that I have Amazon Prime, Amazon Music Unlimited, Amazon Subscribe and Save, and even the Amazon credit card I use to pay each month’s total. In total I spend roughly $500 a month on actual things I actually use and pay for them via the Amazon credit card each month.

I also didn’t catch the problem because they never sent me any receipts or order confirmations for these monthly $5.99, $7.99, and $0.80 charges. So weird that they don’t send invoices when they have no problem doing this for every order that I actually do place, isn’t it?

I spent three hours on customer service chats and calls with zero progress or sense that they cared or even could do anything more than refund the last three months.

In total I figure the fraudulent charges work out to around $1,200 over six years. Mind you, over the last 20+ years I figure I’ve spent approaching $100,000 with Amazon on actual things I actually ordered and used.

Sadly, I’ve been a vocal advocate for Amazon’s service. I have had great experiences with Amazon making things right on past orders. But now I understand that the my took advantage of me and my small child’s trust when we welcomed Alexa into our home.

I feel violated, scammed, and like no one at Amazon even remotely cares that they are losing a dedicated and loyal customer.

Never again will I do business with them. Never.
