International students trying to move to Austria.

Hallo zusammen,

Ist es momentan für alle so schwierig, eine Unterkunft in Linz zu finden, oder haben besonders internationale Studierende diese Probleme?

Die meisten Studentenheime sind bereits voll, die Wartelisten sind sehr lang und viele WG- oder Wohnungsanzeigen antworten entweder gar nicht oder lehnen Anfragen sofort ab. Aus dem Ausland eine Unterkunft zu organisieren, ist ehrlich gesagt ziemlich stressig geworden.

Ich weiß, dass die Wohnsituation aktuell generell schwierig ist, aber ich wollte trotzdem fragen, ob jemand bereit wäre zu helfen — sei es mit Tipps, Wohnungs- oder WG-Kontakten, vorübergehenden Unterkunftsmöglichkeiten oder allgemeiner Orientierung für Studierende, die nach Linz ziehen.

Jede Hilfe oder jeder Hinweis würde wirklich sehr geschätzt werden. Vielen Dank!

Has finding accommodation in Linz become this difficult for everyone lately, or is it just international students struggling?

Student dorms are mostly full, waiting lists are extremely long, and many WG/apartment listings either never respond or reject applications immediately. Trying to arrange accommodation remotely from outside Europe has honestly become very stressful.

I know housing is difficult everywhere right now, but I wanted to ask if anyone here would be willing to help with advice, apartment leads, WG contacts, temporary accommodation suggestions, or general guidance for students moving to Linz.

Any help or direction would genuinely be appreciated. Thank you.

I’m a student from Kashmir and I’ll be moving to Austria soon for higher studies. I am currently trying to find accommodation, but finding a proper place remotely from India has honestly been very difficult.

I wanted to ask if anyone from the Kashmiri community living in Austria, Germany, or elsewhere in Europe could help me out in any way — whether through personal contacts, relatives, apartment leads, shared flats (WG), or even general guidance regarding housing.

I am trying my best to look for accommodations but haven’t gotten anywhere so far. Tried student dorms, willhaben does not work from my country, shared apartments am unable to find, websites seem to be sketchy.
I dont want to give up my dream of studying in Austria just because I couldn’t find accommodation.

Can someone from this sub please and please offer some leads or help? I know this sub is filled with people looking for accommodations as of now, and this post is no different. But I am mentally exhausted and I need someone who can offer real help.

Do we not have to go to the OEAD website anymore to apply for the RP anymore? And simply mail the embassy the offer letter. They give you a Vfs link and there you upload the documents and that is it.

Before you start calling me out for blasphemy. Let me tell you, the same people would have a religious bio or a couple religious posts commenting on others, trying to shove their opinion down other’s throat, and also majority of these people swear as well. What do you name this type of hypocrisy?

In my unpopular opinion, it just threatens their self image, looking at people who post online, are doing better than them or something which triggers their insecurity. And to overcome that they use the “religion bias” to overturn that feeling (which makes them feel a low of some sort). They know the thought is right there in their subconscious and to suppress that, because they don’t have the ability themselves to achieve. They think cussing someone in the name of religion puts them as a higher being in the society alongside it puts their insecurity to comfort.

Of course, there are people who genuinely try to make the person aware of the wrong/action they are committing. At the same time they also know to mind their own business.

Let’s tell people about individuality. Once the person is sane and of the age he can make decisions of his own. You as a stranger have no right to school them online. Those who should really be the ones concerned let them be such as family or friends. Not you.

Do you guys acknowledge how big of a failure was modi’s “swach bharat abhiyaan”? I am so pissed that cleanliness is taught in all religions in this country but no one bothers about it outside their own space? So, many people posting on social media about having a civic sense but is it helping? This awareness is only reaching out to people who are already aware and not to those who actually need it.

Recently was traveling locally and a little girl had a couple of junk items with her. As we traveled she threw every wrapper and the plastic bottle out the window without any hesitation. Her mother along side her herself threw the ice cream wrapper out of the window of the vehicle. It flared me up so bad but I was not in the situation to do anything.
The same day I had travelled by a train and I always wondered how filthy these tracks were. But that day I saw an railway employee himself throwing trash out onto the tracks. Quoting “abh kaha fainke?”

Everything aside this country needs to invest more in cleanliness. I don’t want anymore fking jobs for people or good roads or whatever facilities government provides. I don’t even fking care about if the price of commodities goes up or down.
But ffs clean this country someone. It is really getting difficult to live a normal life here.

I am fairly new to reddit. I clicked my profile and saw the option of anonymous browsing. I clicked it and saw a few posts and left. Now I cant seem to find the feature anymore.

I wish I had come to college in this wonderful city. I stayed here for a few weeks and I absolutely loved it. The chaos here sometimes takes a toll on you but the next day you are up for it again. Now, I am leaving for a depressingly remote college. I hope you guys understand the mixed melancholic feelings one goes through while leaving a place.
Tomorrow I would like to come back to this sub when I am wherever I have to be and this city goes on.

I have heard most of the companies require 75% above in pcm for btech students to even sit in for the interview. How true is it? mean students who have below75% in btech are doomed?
