PSA that Ryan Ridley, writer of some earlier episodes like Tales from the Citadel is returning as a writer for season 10!
Personally I think this is great news since I miss the lore heavy episodes he contributed to and the fact that he was able to balance comedy within the dramatic elements
Plus he doesn't seem like a problematic creep so sign me up!
If Kane Parsons is supposedly American, then how come he didn't call his movie "Citizen Kane"?
Is he stupid?
Any fans of indie filmmakers Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson?
I discovered them from their episodes of Marvel's Moon Knight back in 2022 and just absolutely LOVE their style (they also did some episodes for Loki season 2 and then new run of Daredevil)
Justin's writing is similar in style to Linklater but in a cosmic horror genre. And then Aaron always blows me away with his long shots and hand held camera work. They're also good actors too for their credit
I know some people don't like them for being too minimalist or too artsy but that's exactly why I like them (so please be respectful!)
Spring is probably their best work but I like to rewatch Synchronic more often
Something in the Dirt definitely isn't bad IMO but just not their strongest (which is understandable since they filmed it during lockdown)
Really hope they make more movies soon!
Was Season 9 the first time that Evil Morty's theme wasn't played for his episode?
Couldn't remember if they played it in season 7 since that was more of a Rick Prime episode anyway
It's "For the Damaged Coda" and based on a Chopin nocturne
I miss when there was more music in this show...
According to IGN's review of season 9, Owen Wilson will have a guest role in tomorrow night's episode 4, "A Ricker Runs Through It"
So far I've been liking season 9 so far and I'm looking forward to this episode!
In the last 12 days I've been a victim to now 2 instances of AI being taken away unceremoniously:
June 1st - GitHub Copilot price hikes (yeah I didn't see the news, I own that)
June 12th - Fable 5 (I actually did see this on the news and managed to get a few last minute prompts in before it was too late)
---
I hate this. I need consistency in my life and I'm willing to shell out some cash if it means having a good enough solution that will never be taken away by greedy corporate scum
My budget is $2k - $4k
Can y'all please help point me in the right direction for what hardware to buy and where to start to get into local LLMs? It doesn't need to be lightning fast like the cloud models, just good enough for me to be able to take it for granted in the same way that you would for something like a calculator
June has not been great to say the least
June 1st and June 12th of this year will probably end up in the history books
I predict that this will be the start of the bubble finally bursting
Wonder what will happen in the next 2 and 1/2 weeks...
My estimate is that by the arbitrary date of June 9th 2027 (hehe 69) we will be in the ruins of the fallout from AI collapsing on itself by the violent ebb and flow the last 12 days
My evidence? Idk man but water is a non renewable resource. It's gonna dry up at some point...

Have any of y'all solved the millennium problems using AI yet?
I'd love to see someone try
In fact, I'd pay a million dollars for that /s
(But for real I wanna see someone use Fable 5 to solve one of these things lol)
I don't want to waste my tokens trying this out but I'm curious if anyone has tried using Fable 5 to solve any of the Millennium problems
I'd pay a million dollars to see someone try this /s
What is the bare minimum a voice actor would need to contribute to get writing credits? Would they be credited if for example they improvised a line? Or would the screenwriter get the main credit?
Asking because people keep saying Roiland hasn't written anything since season 3 but do you think maybe he might have improvised any jokes when he recorded his lines?
Something just feels super off in the dialogue since the recast. Not the plot or larger things like, I just mean the spoken words in the script
Wish the new voice actors would slip in some more jokes...
(edit: adding that the pacing isn't the same anymore, about 1.25x times slower and fewer jokes per minute)
Is it not possible to compromise and believe both things to be true?
Season 9 so far is better than 8 but I just don't think it will ever be as objectively good. The show was best when it was a meta comedy. Now it's just sad and depressing like Bojack Horseman mixed in with anime fights and very little meta commentary or self awareness
Suggestion:
Madison: "I like your hair"
Strong: "Thanks I cut it myself"
White: *confused chef noises*
Bonus points if they are also in a k-pop band and wear watches (oh good look at that wrist 🥵)
These usage increases are driving me crazy and I miss the days of paying a flat monthly fee
Is hardware not powerful enough to run local model well enough yet? I wouldn't mind investing $4k - $5k in a really good machine that can run local LLMs really well instead of paying a cloud subscription and being locked into Anthropic's control
It's not a rush and I'm not doing anything wild that needs strong compute, it's more the peace of mind to know that I don't have to always be thinking about conserving tokens since it can free up my mind to focus on other problems
Michael Keaton - The Other Guys (2010)
"Listen guys, I've got two jobs. I work here, and I have another job at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I'm doing it to put a kid through NYU, so he can explore his bisexuality and become a DJ"
