Detail Day
Not too shabby for almost 160k miles :) She's a little rough around the edges, but I love my S.
Purchase Advice - 04 Corolla
Reposting from r/corolla
04 LE sedan with the 5spd manual, 1zz engine. 130k miles. Very minimal rust (It's a NY car, can only ask so much lol)
New transmission and clutch, he says he fucked the first one learning manual hehe. Rowed through gears excellent and the clutch was biting right at the floor. New plugs, alternator, fuel pump, starter, serp belt, wheel bearings. He has new headlights and drum brakes for the rears included in the purchase, not yet installed.
Needs new struts up front I think based on clunk over bumps on the test drive, needs a new cat (I found a rust hole when I was looking underneath and the downstream o2 sensor is throwing a code), leaky power steering pump, and a minor front end accident that he didn't report (clean title) I think I can find a bumper and driver fender at a scrap yard no problem. I can do all the work myself
Asking 3.2k and I got him down to 3 even. It's a no brainer right? I've been a honda guy up to this point, Toyota people tell me a reason not to buy it, I figure 2k into it and it'll be gold. It's ready to go as it sits just needs some buttoning up.

Reinforcing Trail Runners
So I really liked my first pair of Altra LP 9+, I was stoked on the vibram lower. Unfortunately after around 500 miles the uppers are disintegrating while the sole still has another few hundred miles of life left. Got another pair for this season and want to pre emptively strengthen the areas that wore through on my last pair. Want to get every last bit of life out of them. Shoe goo tends to be the typical rec but honestly I've had bad experiences with it not working very well in the past. Wondering if anyone has some input. The areas that wore through were along the sides where the upper meets the rubber right where the shoe creases, and inside the heel got totally shredded quite quick.
Installed exhaust, car running rough
I just installed a T1r single exhaust and today my car had a very choppy idle, was not running right. I noticed a little burble whenever coming off throttle on the first test drive two days ago. Today it progressively got worse over two driving sessions til I parked the car. Smooth when getting on power at higher revs but the idle is all wacked out. I foolishly let the first section of the exhaust hang down under its own weight as I was bolting it to the cat. So my thought is I either damaged the 02 sensor or created an exhaust leak upstream of the cat. But would that cause the car to run like this? Or it's something totally unrelated and pure coincidence. Spark plugs are good and valves adjusted very recently.
