First squad complete
Finished up my first DW squad today and wanted to share. Had fun trying some new things, and did my best face and power weapon so far. Tomorrow I start on a shield bro

I was really dreading paint black armor and making it look good but decided to just throw some paint tag these three and see what I did and didn’t like. I tried glazing greys, slap chop, and a mix of the two. Ravenguard is the best imo and is the mix of the two techniques. Next model I’ll try doing the layers w a make up sponge and a more porous one. I am not a huge fan of edge highlighting black armor so I plan to keep doing a chipping style for the highlights.
After building the Corvus Blackstar I thought this extra hatch might make a good shield. Used a gravis arm for the shield hand as well as a gravis pad and head to add some bulk. I clipped of a gravis packs sensor array and repositioned the original one for the same bulking out reasons. He came out pretty close to my original vision.
I got a bunch of 3d printed bits when trying to reach the credit limit at a lgs. It’s not fancy but it should make a decent bit of terrain to maneuver around. Want to put some dude in here to build out the scene.
Ended up ordering the wrong bodies for the melee guys but the change was welcomed and things fit well enough. Particularly happy w the guy who will be an Emperors Warbringer. Cut off the maul head and attached the sword from the upgrade sprue to be a powered short spear. Also loved the mustached head.
Edit: got that mold line on his head scraped off.
No models today, but I did manage to crank out two bases. Really excited to get started on the vindicare this week
Hands down my favorite part of the lore are the eversor assassins. Fun model to paint, and happy with how the base came out. 2/4 done, on to the Vindicare
I was lucky enough to find a plasma guy locally for cheap, missing an arm and head. Planned to do a green stuff tentacle but found this claw from the warp spawn kit and made it work. Head is from the DG kill team.
Got an extra plasma guy locally for really cheap and planned to just make a tentacle to replace the missing arm. Ended up going a different route and used a clawed arm from the chaos spawn kit.
Stole one of my daughter’s kabalite helmets because I didn’t like the original head. She seems to have a thing for the eldar so I thought it was fitting. Just waiting on the base to dry so I can wrap this one up
I am building a 10 man squad tomorrow and was curious if there’s a go to setup? If not lots of hammers and shields lol and whatever else looks cool
Slow day at work so I was able to knock this guy out today
Had a good time painting these two. First time using dry pigment powders, and I’m pretty happy with how the bases came out. I plan to add more rocks and variety in that department on some of the next ones.
So besides deciding to do the game on hard mode w this army, I also decided to challenge myself with a limited pallet. I’m using the army painter John Blanche vol 1 set and I’m actually pleased w the results so far. I did cheat a tiny bit by adding in some silver. Mixing paints to get the tone and color you want was fun, and I’m more pleased than expected w the first one. She still needs some work on the sword but I’m calling it for now.
Well to keep it simple I’m starting my third army and decided on IA for the simple reason that there is a ton of variety to paint. I get bored doing the same thing over and over and was looking for an outlet. Everything I’ve read seems that this army is an orphan w little support but I do think it will be fun to play w them and just see what happens. My main question is does this army need to be focused on a particular branch of the inquisition or does it mix and match? I do love the idea of the assassins detachment and picked up an eversor today to get started
Looking for recommendations on lightweight gum tires to help lighten the load. Bought these severs cuz they were available locally and matched the look I want, but I want to go with something lighter and switching to tpu tubes. I ride primarily street and a little park.
