Is every other faction’s subreddit just players complaining about how ‘weak’ their army is?

I’m in about half the subreddits for factions in this game and, genuinely, all of them seem filled with posts bemoaning how ‘weak’, ‘underpowered’ or ‘nerfed’ their faction is compared to others. Like, every single one of them. Is this also universal to the other faction subreddits I’m not in? Ironically, I think the most generally positive subreddit is Imperial Agents, aka the ACTUAL weakest army in the game.

Historical consensus on Loyalist paramilitary groups

So, I think it’s fairly well documented how general acceptance of and consensus around the PIRA changed over time, but what about Loyalist groups like the UVF and UDA? My understanding is that they were always universally despised outside of their own immediate community and didn’t particularly care about their international image, but is that necessarily accurate? Was there ever any sort of sympathy for them outside of Unionist communities and traditions?

I was recently listening to an excerpt discussed in a podcast from a letter by Yasser Arafat on ethnic conflicts arising from colonialism. To cut a long story short, the point that was being made was that ethnic conflicts are inevitable in post-colonial contested areas, as both sides must reach a point at which all options save for peace have been exhausted, otherwise the peace cannot be long-lasting. This got me thinking about the Troubles and the Sunningdale Agreement specifically. Even if it had been a success, do you think it would have been doomed afterwards, simply because not enough people had been killed on both sides? Interested to hear some opinions on this.

Edit: grammar

Recently finished his ‘Burn Them Out! A History of Fascism and the Far Right in Ireland’ and have mixed feelings on it. Felt a little biased in his depiction of left-wing Irish republicans, particularly those involved in post civil war street violence. Haven’t looked into his background but, based solely on reading this, i have a feeling he might have strong Irish left wing sympathies and struggles to mask them in his writing. Not that i have any issues with that, but it just felt like a bit of a biased history of our extreme right. Am I way out of line for thinking this?

I remember reading in the Times an opinion piece a while back that said Michael Collins had become an alcoholic by the time of his death and was likely drunk when he was killed. They’d suggested it was on the back of having been forced to fight many of his own former comrades. Is this conjecture or is there any truth to it? Have never found anything corroborating such a statement
