Smoked brisket and queso fresco tacos with a salsa of plumcots, chili, garlic and lime

Prime brisket was smoked on the offset with post oak back in April, then cut into chunks and vacuum sealed and frozen. I reheated it and shredded it.

The tortillas were toasted in a little bit of beef tallow made from the trimmings of said brisket.

The salsa is "La Ciruela Agridulce" from Salsa Daddy by Rick Martinez. I used plumcots instead of true plums because I may have gotten a *little* overexcited at how many flavors they had available. There is no cilantro in this salsa, so it is safe for the poor souls afflicted with the soap gene, but it's also awesome for everyone else.

Job hunting in the time of AI

The last time I was in the job market was 2022 and AI was just starting to be a thing.

I've seen a lot of chatter about how most people use AIs to write their resumes and most corporations use AI to filter out most of those resumes.

How do I stand out? My human-to-human network is terrible.

Any other tips/tricks? I read through the pinned thread already.

Places to donate used kitchenware, clothes

tl;dr I am NOT SELLING. I am asking what charities are reputable and could use some donations.

I'm cleaning out my house and have some miscellaneous pots and pans, clothes etc that I no longer need.

None of it is expensive (the kitchenware is from Walmart/Big Lots or equivalent) but it's perfectly functional.

I'd like to donate it where it will do some good. I know The Salvation Army and Goodwill have been in the news for doing some shitty things so I am avoiding them.

Are there any churches, etc who accept such donations? Bonus points if they accept on weekends.

Northwest Houston would be preferred.

Thank y'all.

Oil caked onto bottom of pan

I was frying using canola oil. Some oil spilled over and is now thoroughly caked onto the bottom of the pan. It is tacky and annoying and will probably burn more when I next use this pan. What is the best way to remove this?

I have tried dawn and a thorough scrubbing with both a scrub daddy and a chainmail scrubber. It persists.

What public library has the best selection of cookbooks?

I'm not looking for anything specific, but if I wanted to walk into a library and browse whatever they happen to have, which library is best?

Bonus points if it's toward the north/west side of the compass but I will go on an excursion if needed.

Thank you from a bored person who hates summertime weather and needs something to do.
