Thanks for the Muse, yall

When we were all guessing headliners on here before the lineup was announced, Muse came up a lot (as I feel like they do most years.) Some people were really pushing for the idea that Riot needed more headliners with production values like theirs. I haven’t listened to Muse much since their big three albums, so I didn’t really think much of it.

But all that fervor on here me to gamble on a cheap seat to their St Louis show. Holy shit. And not just because of all of the lights and lasers and screens and smoke and shit - they sounded great and they played a perfect setlist (okay, little sad they cut Resistance and Stockholm from the show before, but glad we got Map of the Problematique in the process.) I’m only so much of a fan, but honestly, one of the best shows overall ever seen.

It got me thinking of a lot of great shows I hit because of the discourse on here that I wouldn’t have otherwise - Reignwolf, Wargasm, Swingin Utters, The Lillingtons, Peaches. So thanks for the recs over the years - they really paid off last night.

Lawn seats down to $25 in the U.S.

I know there’s a difference between Muse’s popularity in the U.S. and the U.K., but I just found this fascinating after the discussion of how much tickets cost for the U.K. shows. Some of the lesser-selling shows for the U.S. summer concert season through LiveNation have had lawn seats dropped down to 4-for-$99. Muse is the first one listed here. Here’s hoping that means they‘ve got some price drops up their sleeves over there too (even if the initial prices were gross.)

How were set times out so early last year?

First, I want to emphasize I’m not complaining. I was just surprised when an old memory popped up in my social media and I realized that the set times were already announced this time last year.

I would never expect them to have that ready so early again this year, but I just thought it was extra weird since even the festivals that announce stuff earlier don’t seem to announce that until a month out. Any thoughts?

Where to dance in StL - if you’re a big dork in your 40’s?

Just got out of the Lucero show at City Winery, and I’m excited and ful of energy - but no idea where to go next. I like dancing, but I can’t actually dance well and I feel weird in typical dance clubs. I just want a fun place to go where I can keep moving for awhile. Is there anywhere in the city I should go, or is asking a fool’s errand in and of itself?

Best light/healthy restaurants in StL

For a while now, my go-to dining whenever I was in St Louis was brisket at Pappys or Hogtown, gooey butter cake and coffee at Park Ave, maybe fried rice at Lefty’s or ice cream at Clementine’s.

The doc is letting me know that’s less and less an option these day. What are your favorite healthy meals (outside of your own kitchen) anywhere in the city or the’burbs? Or if nothing else, just something that leaves you feeling properly mobile after you eat it.

Odds of cancelled shows?

I’ve got tickets to their St Louis show, but I went with cheap seats in the back and was thinking of upgrading. Looking at the map on Ticketmaster, and there’s a LOT of blue dots for just under three weeks out. You can’t tell how many lawn seats have been sold that way, but I’m curious if anyone has any insights to how few seats sold have been resulting in some of the show/tour cancellations we’ve seen lately. (Also, I’m obviously not complaining about my $40 ticket, but having $122 tickets that aren’t *that* many rows ahead of me - not even halfway up to the stage - seems like a choice.)

Anyone else bummed we haven’t gotten the album-plays yet?

Maybe it’s because my brain is having one those shitty, depressive, dopamine-free days, but when it became clear to me we weren’t getting the album-plays this week, it really got me down. Haven’t they traditionally released those pretty quickly after the lineup?

Anyone know why Chicago shows aren’t on StubHub?

Was gonna sell a ticket (friend bailed) and maybe get one for Friday. StubHub seemed like the easiest site since I‘ve sold there before, but for some reason, the Chicago Slide Away festival isn’t listed there, and I can’t figure out how to add it (even when I try to follow StubHub’s directions.)

Anyone know what’s up?

Anyone got an extra Friday ticket they want to trade for a Saturday ticket?

Granted, we’d have to figure out how to swap them safely, which I’m not sure how to do yet. But I bought two Saturday tickets for Chicago, and but of course, my friend dropped out. Planning to go up early and catch the Friday show too if I can find someone to trade.

At the Riviera in August. Furs always seem like a good get for Riot that never happens.
