Does anyone else always feel like they are failing?

My son is 8 months and doesn't sleep very well through the night. Until very recently he woke up pretty much every hour. I'm exhausted. I'm a SAHM and me and my husband rent from my inlaws. It saves a lot of money but we are on the same property. My MIL regularly pisses me off

I love my son so much more than anything I ever have. He is an amazing sweet and beautiful little soul. But he's very active and at times I'm so tired. I read to him and play with him. I'm always trying to help him learn words. But I also have things to do so I'll but him in a chest carrier or have him close by in a playpen. I just feel like I'm not doing enough. He deserves the world and I suck. Does anyone else feel like that? My house is cleaner but I haven't spent as much time with my son. Or we had more quality time but dinner isn't that great. I feel like I'm doing nothing and a ton at the same time. And I just feel so guilty

What is the new blood transfusion teaching ?

I went on JW.org and looked up " blood transfusion" and selected the newest tab. There were no articles about a new understanding that popped up. Nothing even really to do with blood transfusions. An article about being vegan popped up though? It's weird because I've only been out for like 2 years. When I was in the search bar brought up what you put in. They also book off all the year books older than the 1970's.

How much contact do your kids have with PIMI relatives ?

I have been out for about 2.5 years. I have a 7 month old son. My family knows my stance, but they don't know where I live. My son has met my mom , and visited about 5 times. My sister is a need greater in India and is flying home soon. I love my born family but my gut tells me to keep my new family separate. At first they shunned me , but with updated information that's not the case.

My Mom is kind of a reactive and self centered person. My sister has thrown me under the bus a million times and I don't really trust her. She is extremely bubbly and socially skilled , but very fake. It's hard for me to take what she says as honest. My brother cut me off . My Dad died before I left.

I love my son and I don't want him to be around the religion, or be curious about it. I also feel like my family has some dysfunctional dynamics. I honestly just don't want anything to do with them. But my mom raised me and my family is my family. My mom just turned 60 so if she needed help I would want to be around. But I don't really want to do social things with them. My husband also kind of has a very negative opinion of my family...

Any thoughts or shared experiences?

Idk what to do

Hi so I would love some advice. My husband and I keep running into walls when it comes to parenting. The 2 big issues we keep having are , our different approaches to crying , and safety.

Our son is 8 months old. At times you can put him down and he'll play for 5-10 minutes by himself. Other times you set him down and he cries immediately. He is teething so he is often fussy. We have a hiking backpack so sometimes I'll put him in that and do chores. But he doesn't like it always. And he only really tolerates it for 20ish minutes.

My husband is frustrated because he thinks I respond too much to our son. He thinks by soothing him or picking him up when he cries that I am training him to cry. He often refuses to help with my son when he is crying. He often leaves the room or even the house if he is crying. I think that for our son's age his behavior is reasonable. He's a sweet boy. He is abnormally loud which is a part of it and he is extremely active so he takes a lot of work. He also doesn't sleep at night very well.

The second issue is safety my husband and I went paddle boarding ( sitting down the board is big enough for both of us) with our son. He was upset when I insisted on him wearing a life jacket. He thinks I'm going to coddle our son.

I think that parenting takes work and you have to accept that. He gets frustrated and wants aspects of our life back. I get frustrated because he stances leave me with less support and the criticism and judgement is draining.

Is mother's day a thing with JW's?

So I was raised in the truth Dads an elder Moms a pioneer. All my siblings pioneered. But I left and I now have a son. My Mom wished me a happy mother's day and acted like witnesses can participate?

But all my life I heard in car groups " oh for the world it's mother's day for us everyday is mother's day." So honestly wtf? Its like tattoos, it was always not allowed. I remember on JW.org for years the top article people asked about JWs is why we don't allow tattoos. And now there is just a casual young people ask article about how they are ok?

Am I tripping or are there no clear standards, but extremely strict social pressures in this religion? Like the elders would call you back and threaten you , not let you pioneer. But the GB will warmly tell you it's a conscience matter. But then conventions tell you it's not a conscience matter. And a watchtower article quickly infers the same.

Mother's day

My birthday is close to mother's day. For my birthday I wanted a blue toilet for the house we are building. And so my husband found one on Facebook marketplace for free and we went and picked it up.

He forgot mother's day even though I reminded him multiple times. He is super forgetful but still. He suggested his gift be taking our son to his mom's church as her gift and mine. His mom for reference is a super difficult person. She has to be in charge of and involved with everything! She is super pushy and disrespectful and emotionally reactive and manipulative. And I honestly fucking hate her. I said "it hurts my feelings you're multitasking me". And he got mad and said " well I forgot I work my ass off , and I don't even care about holidays" which I get but he knows mother's day is the holiday that means the most to me.

Should I make a big deal out of this? I'm really mad

▲ 7 r/Decor+1 crossposts

I posted in this subreddit yesterday and I have more ideas based off comments. I hope to get some feedback. Which would you guys choose 1-5? Do you dislike all of them? I'm not too concerned with everyone liking my preferences but I'm curious if there is something I'm not seeing.

  • For picture two it would have a white farm sink instead of black, and brushed brass furnishings on cabinets.

I've always liked vintage styles but with checkerboard and green being popular right now I'm worried it will look dated. Does this seem too basic?

Hi, my husband and I are building a house. We're doing it gradually as we can afford to continue ( we're in our mid twenties not rolling in money) . I recently scored a free vintage blue toilet and sink and we also have a free claw foot tub. So I wanted some thoughts on decor. I love whimsy but am also a minimalist. I like well made , bright, intriguing decor that's fun. I also love hints of vintage without it taking over the whole style.

My ideas are nautical under the sea theme. Artistic fish wallpaper with bright colors a cool light fixture I've seen some jellyfish inspired ones. I loved that early 2000s fish bathroom as a kid 😂 and I want to do a slightly elevated version.

Or

Cloud wall paper maybe some B board on the bottom half of the wall to break it up. Maybe a yellow pendant light to be a sun vibe.

I know both of these ideas can go tacky fast but I want a house to feel fun and warm. I have an 8 month old son and plan to have more so I'd like their home to feel creative and positive.

Very nuisanced title I know. I am frustrated with my husband and would appreciate feedback. I am 25 and so is my husband our son is 8 months. My husband did not bond with our son when he was first born and for months I was very understanding. He still tried to help doing things like taking him out on his hikes so I could sleep a couple times a month. He also works 50 hour weeks in construction. So he is very tired at the end of some days. I understand he works hard. Another layer is we live on his parents property as renters. His parents run a small business, but the organization is dogshit. They will vacation for months in the winter ( their off season) procrastinating huge issues , and just expect my husband to be able to help.

Here's where my frustration comes in. My husband grew up with a Dad who works 24/7. His mom is extremely emotionally volatile and the most immature person I've ever met. I honestly think he largely avoided her to keep himself sane. My husband looks up to his Dad ( who favors his sister) and wants his approval. He believes that working all the time makes you a man. Instead of helping me with our son he invents projects to be productive.

My son is a horrible sleeper and always has been. And my husband blames me for this issue. His mother tried to bully me into sleep and feed training the second our son came home from the hospital. It took him a hot minute to support me in that endeavor, but he now thinks it's my fault our son doesn't sleep. He also thinks I need to let my son cry so he learns to "self soothe". By which he means regularly let our son cry for no reason for ten minutes. At times he gets so frustrated by my sons crying he just leaves the house.

Despite getting zero to 3 hours of sleep a night and my son only being able to take contact naps as he is a very light day sleeper. The house is still clean, dinner is made , I'm dressed , I play games with our baby, I read to him. I'm not perfect but I honestly think I've handled myself well.

But he doesn't seem to think my struggle is real. Anytime I ask for more bonding with our son , or for him to try to be cleaner ( he has ADHD and I clean up after him every morning) he gets super defensive.

I also tell him to stop prioritizing his parents business over our family. He understands where I'm coming from with that but there's always an excuse. His parents are functioning way above their abilities and despite the fact they use the whole family to run their show it's still a mess.

I just want his opinionated and stupid mom away. I want his Dad to stop enabling the Mom. I want my husband to set boundaries. I want him to bond with our son , and be appreciative. Its my birthday in a few days, which is also his Dads graduation from a theological school. We're going to his Dads graduation. For my gift he just gave me it's a thrifted book. Which isn't a big deal except I'm a minimalist and have asked him to stop buying so many books. He buys several a month and never reads them.
