Shame about access to work

I had to apply to access to work (to get taxis to and from work), and I am feeling sick to my stomach that my employer will know about my disability. Has anyone been through this and how did you get over the shame?

I woke up super motivated to sort out my life today but then made a mistake of venting to someone about being behind on literally everything

I expected a tiny bit of sympathy, just a "that sucks", but instead I got a lecture about how I just need a consistent planner to get things done. Gee, thanks, because I have definitely done anything consistently in my life. I am totally capable of that and my adhd diagnosis is just because I'm a silly goose and not because I cannot consistently do shit, even enjoyable shit.

I can't believe my brain is still wired to expect sympathy and comfort when I vent about this instead of a lecture, how tf do I NEVER learn?

So anyway, today is a write off, I got my nails done instead and now I'm at the beach. Pic included.

Update on Anyone here in the West Midlands who has been diagnosed in the last 8 months by ADHD360?

I just called them and it turns out I was on a waiting list for the area I used to live in, where the average wait time is a year. This was due to me taking 10 months to change my GP after I moved, so my previous GP was the one who referred me and they placed me on the waiting list based on the GP address, not my personal address.

Just thought I'd share if anyone else has moved from one county to another during the time you have been on the wait list, don't make the same mistake that I did!

How long did you wait for? They told me the waitlist is 6-8 months long, it's just been 8 months and nothing yet. When I emailed them I got a generic "your assessment is likely to take place later than initially anticipated" response

It's crazy how this sub is always right!!

I created a rover account year ago and only offer housesitting. I started off cheap to get some reviews, but slowly risen to mid range price. I discovered this sub a few months ago and keep seeing the same advice given to sitters, to raise our price if we want to get more requests. So to test the theory I looked at a sitter profile whose price is in the high range and she started sitting the same time as me. And lo and behold, she has 16 reviews and 8 repeat clients, while I have 6 reviews and 2 repeat clients.

I wish I have seen this advice sooner! I will raise my price now, but I hoped to get more sits this summer to make extra money while I'm off from work (I work in a school), and I fear it's too late for that now.

Owners, invest in a key lock box

It's really annoying to be asked to pop in a day early to collect keys, or to arrive at 6am because you leave early on your trip. At the very least offer to pay extra for that.

PIP phone assesment help

I have my PIP phone assesment next week and I have prepared how to answer the questions I know they will ask, however I heard they can also ask clarifying questions and questions that are not in the script, which is exactly the sort of the thing I struggle with due to ASD. I need to know what will be asked in a phone call so I can script my answers beforehand, even if it's a short, simple phone call. Otherwise I can't even answer the phone.

I am scared that they will ask me something I haven't prepared for, and I will just shut down and not speak. Did anyone else have this problem, what did you do? Did you tell the assesor beforehand that this might happen?

This community makes me feel less alone

There is a lot of negativity being posted on this sub (which is totally valid), but I figured I will share some positivity because I feel like I have a somewhat unique story. I have an invisible disability, so invisible I did not figure out I have it until adulthood. I kept trying to achieve all the things you're supposed to achieve (degree, job, career etc.) and failing over and over again, then falling into severe depression because of it. Eventually I got diagnosed and qualified for disability.

While I am lucky I can qualify for disability in my country and receive enough money to live on (in lots of other places it would be impossible), the money is JUST enough to live on. On top of that I felt like a failure and so ashamed. Having to let go of the goals I had, including my travel goals because I could not afford it, took a tool on my mental health.

And then someone on reddit told me about THS at the exact same time I was getting evicted and my mental health could not take looking for another place. So instead of finding another place, I got rid off most of my stuff, paid for a THS membership and started housesitting and traveling while staying with friends in between gaps. My mental health improved massively, I explored places I could not afford to visit before and the positive reviews HOs left me improved my self esteem so much and made me realize not being able to be in paid employment does not define my worth.

There was only one problem, my family and friends did not understand at all! My friends were all at the stage of life where they are buying houses, getting married, advancing in their careers. They did not understand why I am essentially choosing to be houseless and sleeping in stranger's homes, they would just look at me like I have 3 heads. It kind of sucks when you are doing something you enjoy so much and your people are not happy for you, just confused.

But finding this sub made me feel like I have found my people and made me feel less alone. Especially those who do this full time because you truly get it, but honestly all of you. I just wanted to express this. I don't remember the redditor who told me about THS and gave me a discount referral, but she made such a huge difference to my life.
