Mountain Biking Tix?

Did they mostly sell out during the locals pre-sale? I was there I think at the beginning of the first drop, but I never saw anything.

I read an earlier post claiming they saw women’s available but no men’s.

The whole is confusing.

Men: what’s the art of smelling nice, in a nutshell?

I’m curious when people say “I like a man who smells nice”….how does that work exactly?

I’m a dude who showers daily, I clean my clothes. I use deodorant. I don’t smell bad, but I don’t know what smelling nice is exactly.

I think some people would respond like “wear cologne.” Yeah, but when is it appropriate? How much? And what is too strong? I don’t want to go around like scented trash bag giving everyone migraines all the time. There has to be a time for it and an amount used and a scent that’s not overwhelming. So what’s the art and tempo to mastering “smelling nice” and not “I’m a walking Febreeze” all the time?

Are there other ways to smell nice besides cologne?

If you still have a window for Slot 2 coming up, bad news.

It’s literally the leftovers. Everything that’s either too expensive or no one really wants to pay $700 to go see.

I’m sad. I live by Tresles but on the San Diego side (so no locals presale) and wanted badly to see surfing and it’s just, impossible.

Is it hard for ADHD men to run into each other in real life and hit it off as friends?

I’m on this forum watching people talk about ADHD quirks and it’s just uncanny how much my personality is due to having ADHD.

For example, a crisis happens and I’m calm and collected and almost worried because I’m too calm when I shouldn’t be. But then when small things happen, usually due to executive functioning deficits, I’ll get worked up. If I can’t get into a traffic lane, I’ll get pissed, but it’s really my fault because I didn’t plan ahead.

However, as much as I see “people like me” here, it’s strangely elusive in real life, exception being my family. I just kind of feel like an alien surrounded by people without ADHD.

Do you feel the same way? If not, where do you run into people who have similar things going on with ADHD, especially the men here?

With women, and I may be wrong, but women seem more open to just letting their flag fly if they are a certain way. So I’m guessing it’s easier for two women with ADHD hyperactive to find each other in a crowd than two men.

I dunno. Let me know your thoughts on questions above.

Supply line won’t disconnect from my fill valve

Hi all,

I’m inexperienced with toilets and am trying to replace my fill valve. The supply line won’t budge. I’ve clamped the valve inside the toilet, turned the nut counterclockwise, WD40’d the threads. It’s plastic threads, but still won’t budge. Sitting here watching YouTube videos of a plumber like “if it’s plastic to plastic, I don’t understand how it would get stuck.” Ok well, come work on my line and watch your world go crazy. It won’t move. Maybe calcium buildup? We have some pretty hard water here.

Before I just hacksaw the fill valve off, any advice on what to do?

Opinion on Cosplay at SD Comic Con?

Second year at the convention.

Was reading the post about SDCC vs. NYCC, and it said the amount of cosplayers at SDCC was less than NY. I wanted to gauge your opinion on this. My expectation going in the first time was that it would be a massive costume party of epic proportions. I went to Wondercon, I went to other conventions. Those had massive gatherings of people dressed as superheroes, villains, anime characters, video game characters, funny ideas. Hell, there’s booths specifically for Cosplay guilds for Star Wars or Marvel characters at these places. They meet up in massive groups and do big photo ops.

I would have expected SD Comic Con to have been the mecca to top that. Explosions of people dressed in Star Wars and Comic Book characters, lightsaber battles, big giant national unions of cosplaying people all gathering for this crazy event. People GD buying gym memberships and getting crazy ripped just to look as much like the heroes they portray. No expense sparred.

And then I get there, both years. Can’t complain, and there were a lot of costumes there. Lot of great costumes. It was just…not what I pictured in my head.

I don’t know if that’s because of the amount of people flying in to attend SDCC, making it harder to lug in elaborate designs? Maybe it’s the exclusivity of getting SDCC tix that make it harder to mobilize armies of people in costume.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s definitely a fair amount of people in costume. There may even be a greater amount of people at SDCC in costume compared to other conventions. The costumes were excellent and many people went all out and had some great designs.

It’s just underwhelming compared to the stature of the event and more people doing cosplay at lesser conventions.

Hall H waits - Is it worth it?

Another year of sitting here before Comic Con like…”Do I want to see something in Hall H?”

Every year I come to the conclusion: no.

What odd amount of motivation makes people camp all night or wait the entire next day to see something? I don’t care if you find yourself within 50 feet near a movie star. You can do that at an Erewhon in LA on any day of the week, no wait required. Plus, like let’s say I go to see some exclusive trailer for Avengers: Doomsday when it airs. They’ll just drop it online right afterward.

Can someone explain to me after all the wait, why is it worth sinking an entire day to see?

Email Ettiquitte - where do you land on this argument?

You get an email from an old colleague and friend who just got a c-suite job at your company. You’ve known each other decades, worked together closely, have a personal relationship. Name is Bob Jones. Bob asks you to call him by his first name, asks you to address him by his first name. He wants you to. On his email, his signature says “Bob.” Like he really doesn’t care.

At your company, it’s customary for people to address leadership as “Mr” or “Ms.”

When responding to the email with his team CC’d on it, which choice do you pick?

A. Call him Bob on the email. He asks for it. He wants it. Hell, his team calls him Bob. You have a massive amount of respect for the man and his position, but you also have a previous relationship with him. Excessive brown nosing, given the history, would make him feel uncomfortable. People who get worked up need to find something more important to get worked up about.

B. You either call him Bob or Mr. Jones, but based on the circumstances, either way is correct. You have a choice, but that’s your choice alone.

C. Call him Mr. Jones, always. Calling him Bob would be unprofessional under any circumstances and you’d chide anyone who did that.

You’ll always be a legend in my heart, Senior Istiban!

How many years has it been? 32 years? And still gets no respect. Some day my friend. Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow. But soon, you’ll be a legend.

When that day arrives, I will Arena of the Ancients your ass, and there you will stay, eating popcorn, in the tapped zone.

Can MTG give some Lord of the rings characters the horsemanship ability?

I mean, yes, it was introduced and outroduced during the Three Kingdoms set but it’s still a legit used ability. Sooooooo why don’t some other characters in other sets have it? You’re telling me Riders of Rohan don’t have that ability? Mmmmmk.

People with Sun Quan commanders, not trying to stir your little unique ability pots. It’s just weird that absolutely no one from any other set is good with horses.

When people communicate some statement about air or breathing, why does oxygen get all the credit?

If air is made up of 78% nitrogen and oxygen only 20%, why don’t people make statements about “waste of nitrogen” instead of “waste of oxygen”?

Why do people always think about oxygen when thinking about air or breathing?

Why isn’t Burgeoning on Game Changer List?

I don’t get why it’s not on the list.

If you draw it in your opening hand, with a good mana draw, against good opponents, you can end the game against everyone on turn 3 or 4.

Lovelight and Opalite

Maybe I’m just applying my own personal biases here, but the songs (ABBA/Taylor Swift) are structured very similarly.

They both start and have musical valleys that are lower octave, almost kind of sour melody. Then they both launch into these high energy upbeat sing-along choruses.

Even the lyrics are similar (about someone who’s opalite/has a love light).

I dunno, maybe I’m just noticing a well-known musical formula here?

They just sound very alike in valleys and peaks.

What do you think?

People who need space to recharge and responsibility

Introverts or others who very much need a space to recharge after being overwhelmed: how do you deal with periods when that’s not possible?

You’re a parent, or a caregiver for elderly sick pet, or responsible for something that’s consuming and won’t let you get away, etc. Essentially as a responsible adult, you shouldn’t and can’t “check out.”

What do you do to manage in that case?

Are there great professional writers who aren’t the best copyeditors?

What I mean by my question: the drafts they submit are riddled with simple errors here or there, but the actual content they produce is brilliant. The way they articulate an idea is great. The story being told is wonderful.

What’s your thoughts?

Where do people find Hyrox friends like them?

I’m slightly frustrated. I’m 46, spent my entire life active, and am now kinda stuck in a rut.

I was having a conversation with an instructor at a HIIT workout space and we got into HYROX.

It really seems like me. I bring fire to my cardio and strength routines and don’t fade when they get mixed into a workout.

The instructor mentioned doing a Hyrox competition and said I could perform with a buddy and I cried a little internally.

I don’t know people like me personally. I see 20 something people like me in these competitions as part of a promotional video or on Instagram feeds. But not in real life.

In real life, either I know people who see all fitness as too much, people who casually just work a spin class twice a week, but just kind of lightly doing everything to keep the joints moving, or friends who were like me earlier in life but have settled into: I’m old. Let me grow belly fat and leave me be.

Meanwhile, I’m not old. I don’t feel old. I perform better than many fit people in their 20’s.

I just don’t know where people find their high-intensity buddies like me.

What do you do to meet people who are into this kind of high intensity fitness?

With ADHD families, is emotional regulation not a thing?

I’m just curious.

I came from a family that was all ADHD and that concept was completely alien to us.

In fact, projecting energy, withholding energy, doing anything with emotional energy didn’t exist.

If my dad was pissed, he’d be pissed. Never nuts or abusive, but he didn’t hold back. Mom, same thing. Sister, same thing. There was zero filter. It was just…whatever’s on your mind and whatever you’re feeling, say it, yell it if you’re angry. Be sad if you’re sad. Happy if you’re happy. No rules. No manipulation of energy.

I’m in a relationship where I need to work on my tone, my energy, etc. I need to withhold feelings until it’s the right moment to address things. Things that seemingly are “common sense” to people without ADHD, is just really new to me.

Is this an ADHD thing? Or just my family had no structure or discipline around emotional intelligence?

Sports consumer differences between US Midwest and West Coast?

I’ve lived both places extensively. I know there will always be overlap, but, there’s definitely a difference in the culture in my experience.

In the Midwest, a lot more people are bonkers for consuming sports than West Coast. Along the Great Lakes, and probably many other parts of the country internally, many people are wrapped up in favorite college or professional teams. Families wear sports jerseys. People go to games fervently. It’s something to do and get into.

West Coast, yeah there are some people into that, but typically not as many. Few people wear sports jerseys. People generally care less about how sports teams are doing, unless they came from another part of the country where that’s big and they brought that with them.

Once again, I’m not saying no one does that. Just the general community isn’t so massively rallied around a college team or even professional teams.

Instead, it’s like 50 year olds playing water polo and skateboarding. Actual participation in sports is a lot greater. A lot of surfers from every demographic. Road biking “gangs” everywhere on the weekends.

If you’ve been both places, would you say that’s accurate?
