AAE Grad TA Landscape

What's the current demand like for graduate TAs in the AAE department, specifically for master's students? Is there a shortage or surplus of students wanting to TA?

ME 581 with Larriba-Andaluz

Anyone have insight about ME 581 (Numerical Methods In Mechanical Engineering) with Larriba-Andaluz? I believe he taught the class fall 2025.

The information I have found online are from when Marisol Koslowski was teaching the course. So I wanted to get some idea of how Andaluz handles homeworks/exams. Thanks.

Question about GNC Coursework

TL:DR: Wondering if I need to focus on guidance, navigation, or control in my graduate coursework, or taking an even mix of all of them is fine.

Hi all!

Currently doing my masters in aerospace engineering, majoring in autonomy/control with a goal of entering the GNC space.

I realized so far my past coursework (both for my masters and the graduate electives I took during undergrad) have been a mix of guidance, navigation, and control, instead of a focus in one of them (I've covered: pontryagin optimal control, convex optimization; probability, estimation, kalman filtering; classical, linear, nonlinear control).

TBH I haven't really nailed down if I want to focus on guidance, navigation, or control. But I feel like I should since I am halfway through my masters. I am also not doing a thesis which is partly why I haven't really found a focus yet lol.

I had an internship technically in the controls branch of a company (guidance and nav were another branch), but basically doing modeling/simulation. This experience also sort of made me realize that as a GNC engineer I will probably be focusing on either G,N, or C and not all of them.

So I guess my main question is, would it be a bad idea to have a mix of coursework when I am looking for a full time GNC position? Would companies prefer to see you really focused on G,N, or C? Maybe I should choose based on which classes I got the best grades in lol.

Are these bed bug bites?

Been staying in an extended stay hotel for almost 3 weeks now. I didn't think I noticed anything before, but noticed these spots when I woke up today (except for the one big dot, which was a week ago). They are not itchy. However, the big dot was somewhat itchy at first.

However, I am worried about the set of three dots with red in the middle, since I can see there's a hole in them. The big dot in the last photo has been around for like a week. But it only got that big because of me scratching it. When I got that one it was a little itchy, but only one spot.

Overall, not sure if it's just me scratching myself? But in that case I would think it would be more of a linear scratch mark.

The bed frame is dirty but completely metal; I assumed it was mostly hair, food, and skin debris.

Identifying Roach in hotel in south US

Found this roach on it's back in a hotel (Huntsville Alabama area).

I'm not from here, so not sure what kind of roach it might be? It seems too big to be a german cockroach. Not sure if it's a wood or american roach.

Did this probably come from outside or could there be an infestation? Thanks for any info

Edit: New Photo of topside. Seems like an oriental cockroach?
