Can someone explain to me how Instant Transfers work? It’s not working for me.

Opened this account because it was advertised as using RTP and getting instant transfers back and forth from my main bank - Chase. No matter what I do I’m unable to get this to work. If I deposit from Wealthfront’s side it’s 1-2 business days to show up in account and another 2 business days for the hold to go away. I’ve been trying to link chase and Wealthfront from chase’s side, even using the app specific password and it’s not finding it.

I’m confused as to why this isn’t working. Especially considering it heavily advertises instant transfers with RTP.

All in on a hotel and airline card or keep flexible?

Having a tough time with this decision. I live near EWR, mainly fly United and stay at Marriott properties. I do a ton of work travel. I’m platinum at Marriott, mostly organic but I do have the boundless for 15 nights, and should hit titanium before end of year. I’m on the cusp of silver status at United, and my employers travel agent for the most part books my flights, with me booking them about 20-30% of the time. All my hotels are booked by me.

I’m planning a Disney trip for wife and two kids and with all the Marriott points I’ve amassed and free nights I’m able to stay for 5 nights for free. I want to keep doing this and get my airfare comped too, ideally first class with United when traveling with our little kids.

Once October hits I’ll be out of 5/24 status and I’m thinking I should grab a United card. Likely the club card since there’s no good lounges at EWR and I’ll get access to United lounge. I will also be product changing my boundless to the ritz card next may.

So that’s got me thinking - I have a pretty diverse card set up now, I’ll list below. But I’m thinking I should really just start putting all my spend on either the Marriott or the United card when I get it. Even with less than optimal return in certain area I’ll still be building my points pool at each and generating valuable pqp from United (I cover the north east so while I fly a lot they are a lot of short flights).

Obviously I lose the flexibility of being able to transfer to whomever I want, but the trade off is higher earning rates at the brands I do travel the most.

I think I would still hold at least the sapphire preferred since it’s super low fee. But then it makes me nervous to not have the reserve or a higher end card for purchase protections.

Card setup right now:

Chase sapphire reserve
Chase sapphire preferred
Marriott boundless
Robinhood gold
Amex gold
Amex everyday (MR)

I think adding a premium airline card so the bulk of spend gets split between United and Marriott could be advantageous for me and my family. I think there’s still room for a catch all card and I was toying with the idea of something like the bylt palladium since they transfer to both. Preferred is really easy to keep as I can now get points on gas, and the primary car rental coverage is a bonus at 95 bucks a year.

Thoughts?

Is this short sighted and i would be better off putting all hotel and airfare on Chase sapphire reserve and just throw a Marriott and United card in the sock drawer?

Obsidian vs palladium

I like the idea of palladium for everyday spend and I think I could really make a ton of points because I have a decent mortgage (5700) and spend a ton every month personal and work on personal credit cards. Work spend ends up being meals for client offices, gas, parking, hotels, flights.

That being said I have chase primarily because I like their transfer partners the best. Flights and hotels go on reserve, dining on either sapphire or reserve, gas parking tolls etc on sapphire, online groceries I guess I use once in a while but I’m really lacking an actual grocery multiplier card which is why I think obsidian could be the better play. I do have Robinhood gold for 3x cash back on everything but I value points more.

Thoughts?

Any data on gold card getting affected if you stop using banking?

Banking isn’t really great for my purposes, and with the ability to pay my gold card from my brokerage account I really don’t see the need for it.

If I stop direct depositing into my Robinhood checking account will it automatically close?

If I actually close the checking and savings account what will happen to my gold card as that’s how I access it?

Status challenge?

Hi guys,

I’m looking to get to platinum as fast as possible.

I’ve never done or inquired about a status challenge but read it’s something I can call about.

I’m 3 nights away from gold elite status which I should have the first / second week of June.

So what do I need to know and what does it entail? Just 16 paid nights within 3 months? Is it instant after hitting the 16th night for example if I get it within 1.5 months? And does it hold the same weight as unlocking organically? Is it guaranteed for the whole next year?
