I have a question about how to handle narcissists.

so, my end goal is to leave one day. but i cant readily do that yet. so my plan is to use persuasion/deescalation/information gathering techniques to deescalate the situation while planning my exit in the background.

ive been studying techniques law enforcement uses for deescalation/negotiation/persuasion. i dont think what i have is a magic bullet that will fix everything. but i think it might help bring the conflict down a bit.

ill break down specific techniques i plan on using further down, but basically the plan is to build rapport with them. keep them talking about themselves. encouraging them to let their guard down and tell me things they wouldnt have shared if i had directly asked them.

mirroring:

i want to mirror their body language, and verbal communication back to them to build rapport with them and keep them talking.

empathic statements:

i want to use empathic statements to build rapport and keep them talking about themselves. an empathic statement is like if someone was venting to you, youd say it sounds like that feels x. let the silence sit and wait for them to fill it. theyll confirm whether you were right or not. and if you mislabel an emotion, theyre likely to correct you while appreciating the effort that you at least tried.

elicitation:

elicitation is how law enforcement gets people to confess or reveal sensitive information. the way i understand it is you make an incorrect assumption about something and people cant resist correcting you. i think this would be particularly useful with their enablers to know what kind of conversations the narcissist is running behind your back so you can plan around their smear campaigns.

reciprocity:

law enforcement uses reciprocation to encourage suspects to confess. the way i understand it is giving someone something small encourages them to give you something of equal or greater value back. i read a story where an interrogator gave a suspect a cup of coffee and the suspect basically said why would you treat me with respect after what i did? and they got their confession. im detecting a bit of guilt in their words. basically its giving someone a stick of gum before making an ask. i dont plan on using reciprocity for asks. im going to use it to elicit that feeling of why would you treat me with respect after what i did. guilt tripping them without words.

i plan on using these techniques when theyre being civil for 5 seconds, and exiting entirely when conflict arises and they try pulling me into circular arguments that nobody wins and just serves to give the narcissist supply, all while planning a permanent exit behind the scenes. i want to know if anyone here thinks this plan sounds effective. im specifically wondering if anyone has issue with using any specific one of these techniques on a narcissist, and why.

also, im not really sure where to work it in on my post, but the point of keeping them talking about themselves is it builds rapport because everyone loves talking about themselves (especially narcissists), and they will also reveal information about themselves along the way, which might help me plan around their manipulations, but i feel like i might get more information from their enabler than them that would be iseful for that.

Been trying to dig for samples

Been trying to find samples like lewis parker finds through YouTube, been looking for hrs and haven't found a single useable loop. Really digging that lewis parker vibe and wanna get it in my music.

Some songs for reference

I swear he finds the best loops and drum breaks. His style of drum breaks are especially hard to find. I love spamming my snare pad the way dude does but a lot of snares don't work for that. Need some YouTube digging tips. I rarely find samples. Only by accident when I'm not looking.

im not sure if i did the right thing...

so, ive been emotionally abused. im used to not being believed about what happened to me. ive learned to not try to prove my pain to people.

so i brought up that my abuser was giving me a hard time because i have them blocked on my phone because they have a habit of chasing me out of the house and treating my phone like its an electronic leash when i leave. and they were like what for? and i heard it as you must have done something to deserve it and it triggered me like hard. i felt like i was supposed to prove my pain so i got scared and i broke up with her.

im not sure if i did the right thing or not. i just know im like way triggered right now. shes always been supportive. im not sure if i heard it the wrong way. hoping for some advice from someone trauma informed.

can anyone recommend a good bluetooth transmitter for mpc sample?

so, i make beats on my phone, and i have a sound bar i bluetooth to and make beats on in my room. i was thinking of getting an mpc sample, and using it the same way, but it doesnt have bluetooth like my phone does. id like to hook it up to a bluetooth speaker and make beats in my back yard, or on my sound bar in my room.

is there a way to make a sample mono in gstomper?

really struggling figuring this out. i like to make my drums mono, or just use the left or right channel on it on my drum breaks. like the hat on one of my drum breaks sounds just right using only the left channel.

Looking for some good books on persuasion.

I've been looking into books by former LE who had to be persuasive in high stakes situations because I've been dealing with very difficult (sometimes abusive) people in my daily life. Was hoping for some suggestions that might fit my reading list. Bonus points for books that break down techniques psychics or mentalists use for persuasion. (Chris Voss gave psychics a shout out as a group that would make very good salesmen. And mentalists are kind of the same thing as psychics, just not fraudulent. Psychics claim to talk to the dead and give bad life advice/mentalists frame the whole psychic thing as just entertainment and don't pretend to talk to the dead.) My end goal is to be weirdly persuasive.

I'm interested in topics like:

Empathy

Mirroring

Building rapport

Reading body language

Cold reading

Warm reading

Hot reading

Conflict deescalation

Sales techniques

Psychology of persuasion

Mentalism style suggestion (maybe, more into cold reading but I've seen mentalists do some pretty cool stuff with indirect suggestion. Specifically Derren Brown.)

So far my list is:

Never Split the Difference - Chris Voss

Fight Less Win More - Johnathan B Smith & Derek Gaunt

The Like Switch - Jack Schafer

What Every Body Is Saying - Joe Navarro

It's Not All About Me - Robin Dreeke

Agent of Influence - Jason Hanson

ive been reading up on how to be a better listener, and how to develop empathy. im looking for a place i can practice making people feel seen and heard. im also a little worried about fumbling it hard, especially if someone is in emotional distress. i want to figure out how to do something like this or this. i want to learn how to do empathy with a total stranger.
