Sports scores in corner of TV

I was living life using +2.5 reading glasses for close reading and computer work then got tested for 2.5 left eye and 1.5 right and told I had signs of cataracts. I could watch TV fine

Referred to the specialist who said I had cataracts in both eyes 4/10 in left ad 6/10 in right and recommended surgery sooner rather than later to fit lens for mid/distance monovision lens

So my lens was set for mid/distance, accepted that glasses would be needed for near work

Nearly 4 weeks on and now with my operated eye I cant read the football scores clearly with my on a 55" TV only 10 feet away and my near vision is terrible

Disappointed to say the least. Ive seen the surgery (different doctor) who says all is well and my vision through a pinhole test is 20/20 - so why without the pinhole viewer does every thing feel worse

Am I expecting too much?

(Please dont suggest premium lenses, they arent an option for me - the standard lense was supposed to be good for distance but its not working)

How to get refund? Network railcard

Can I get my money refunded? I have tried emailing the organisation last week but no response!

I bought a 12 month Network rail card last Saturday to buy tickets with the discount to go to London

But it was a bit of a rush and I couldnt download the Network card to use before I needed to travel.

I dont use the train too often , (3/5 times a year) so altough I would probably use it I wouldnt get much value from it

Edir - card has not been 'Activated'

3 weeks after NHS surgery

And it appears there have been no improvement on my vision

I had a monofocal fitted in one eye set for distance but it hasnt improved my mid or long distance as the surgeon suggested it would

Instead it has just made my near vision worse

Am I judging too early? Can it still improve?

I am seeing occasional flashes/glints when using laptop and near to lights

Glasses between operations

Please help me to understand my glasses needs inbetween operations.....right eye done for distance so far

Before I used +2.5 for reading which also helped mid distance of approx 6-10ft/ 2-3m.........

Now I have tried some old readers,...... 1.5 is best for mid distance but reading still best at 2.5

Does vision improve dramatically over first 4-6weeks?

I am nearing 10 days after surgery for a monovision lens with astigamatism set for distance

So far my vision seems to be similar to my other eye which is not yet operated on, both eyes were assessed as being similar stage cataract. TBH Its not great so the distance vision isnt an improvement that I understood it would be.

I read that many ppl get their vision within a day or two, I have vision but its just not any better than what I had before really (except for removing the yellowing)

Do people find it develops and improves significantly after the initial weeks?

What are ppls experiences

48 hours post op

I had my operation and have just passed 48 hours.

THe procedure seemed quite straightforward with a hell of a lot of bright psychadelic like lights but no pain or apparent complications so I am grateful for this

There was no oppotunity to discuss anything before or after with the surgeon

Had a monofocal fitted for distance and sight seems to now be very similar or slightly worse to pre-op, should I be noticing improvement in my distance vision?

I have noticed the change in colours with the yellow haze in my other eye and the clinical whites in my operated eye

I do notice some flickering when I am in strong light

returning to work - construction sites

I know dust and infection is one of the major risks with recovery after surgery.

When would be considered safe/advisable to return to work on building sites

UK NHS - after surgery how long to wait before can drive

As NHS paitient I do not get a follow up appointment in the few days after surgery in 1 eye. This does not happen until 4 weeks later.

I know I can use my own judgement to check I can read 20m distance and generally have no blur/vision problems as I would not drive if I could had issues.

But do I need anything formal from my doctor or surgeon?

I need to drive to get to work so how do you officially do this before the 4 week followup checks?

Also do i need any sick note for my time off work? who is this from? the surgeon or my doctor?

EDIT - I'm after advice from ppl who have experienced my circumstances particularly in UK - NHS where it seems next day assessments are not carried out

Car Insurance NCB mistake?....UK

Car insurance query

I bought a new car to replace my old car (which is a nonrunner for a few months and SORN off road)

I took out car insurance 4 days ago and confirmed I had 9 years no claim bonus NCB whihc is used on the new insurance

At the time I did not think about that the NCB is still in use on my nonrunner.

I cancelled the insurance on the nonrunner today once I realised

I am worried that the new car insurer may invalidate my insurance if there is an incident due to this

UK NHS surgery day

Can someone who has experienced the surgery under NHS go through what happens on the day of surgery.

From my consultation it seems they only discuss and decide my requirements on the day, to work out if I get near or far sight, or any adjustments in between or even monovision and even the strength of lens.

It feels incredibly rushed and gives me little time to consider my choice - without this platform I would be clueless.

I get its day to day stuff for them but to me its the most major operation i've ever had and it comes with lifelong consequences.

UK - Please give me the NHS A-Z on surgery

I have astigmatism and I have an op due for cataracts in a 4 weeks, I get to see a consultant but not the surgeon in 2 days and I need to understand my options. I only get 30 mins which feels rushed. Please help me with your experience questions I should ask and questions you would ask if you got to do it again. I dont think there are lens options on NHS but can I choose lon or short sight or could I have one long one short option?

It seems the default is for long sight but in the modern world we rely on close vision for phones/screens What are the pros and cons please
