🔥 Vuleo 1.1.19 Beta is out! Parental Guidance and revamping of child profiles

**Vuleo 1.1.19 Beta (Build 309) is here ▶**️

This release is all about families.

Parental controls
Set an age limit on any profile. Anything above it is hidden rather than just blocked, so a child never sees what they cannot watch. The limit is protected by a PIN, and each prompt now tells you which PIN it is asking for.

Kids profiles
A kids profile gets its own home screen, built around the child's age, with rows instead of a big hero banner. Leaving a kids profile needs the PIN, so nobody wanders out of it by accident. If some content does not have an age rating, you have option to deny access / allow or allow via your parental PIN.

Age ratings everywhere
Movies, series and the TV guide now show the certificate, and you can tap it to see what it actually means.

Fixes and polish
- Continue Watching improvements
- Mark watched / unwatched improvements
- A batch of crash fixes, plus faster channel search and lighter background refresh on TV

Where to get it
Fire TV and Android sideload: https://github.com/brillianceappsfinland/vuleo-releases/releases/latest
Windows: https://github.com/brillianceappsfinland/vuleo-releases/releases/latest/download/vuleo-setup.exe

Play Store and App Store will roll after few more Beta releases.

🎉Vuleo 1.1.18 is out! Vuleo now speaks 11 languages, has DV, customizable tiles, a lot more external ratings and much more

Above image is the actual UI of Vuleo with AI generated titles and match.

Vuleo is a media player for your m3u / Xtream and add-ons.

Top Shelf

Vuleo got Top Shelf built from your spot light, continue watching items or upcoming Radar events.

It speaks 11 languages now

English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Nederlands, Polski, Português (Brasil), Türkçe, Ελληνικά and العربية. You pick it in Settings, and it applies immediately without a restart.

Arabic also flips the whole layout right to left, which was the part that took quite an effort.

It is not only the menus. Genre names, country and language names, sport and competition names, error messages, the loading text, even the update notes go through the same translation.

If you were already using the app in English, nothing switches behind your back. It asks you once whether you want your device language, and you can say no.

Tile customization (PRO)

There is a Tile Style screen now with a live preview at the top:

  • Poster tiles (tall 2:3) or wide tiles (16:9 backdrop art)
  • A chip showing how much time is left on something you started, or how many episodes are left in a series
  • Rating badges drawn right on the artwork
  • It applies everywhere movies and series appear: home rows, browse grids, search and catalogs. Live TV keeps its own tiles.

More rating sources (PRO)

You can pick from IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, RT Audience, Metacritic, TMDb, Trakt and Letterboxd, and put them in the order you actually care about.

Detail pages show every source you picked. Tiles show the first few that have a score, so a missing rating never leaves a hole. Scores are only fetched for tiles on screen, and only once per title.

Smaller things that add up

  • Playlist loading streams to disk on your device instead of going through memory, and the catalog is no longer re-parsed on every launch. Big lists start noticeably faster and are less likely to run out of memory on a stick.
  • Refreshing a playlist no longer empties the home screen while it works.
  • Favorites and resume points are keyed to the title rather than the stream URL, so they survive a source changing its URLs.
  • Trakt: if you started something in another app, it resumes from there instead of the beginning.
  • Continue Watching shows the real series name and episode title instead of a raw S01E02 style code, and picks the right artwork when two shows have the same name.
  • A downloaded subtitle now actually selects and sticks.
  • Windows can update itself in the app now, and the update prompt tells you what is in the update instead of just a version number, in your language.
  • Ten crashes that had been alive since build 192 are gone.

Available on Android, Android TV and Fire TV, iOS, macOS and Windows. Vuleo ships with no playlists, no portals and no links, you point it at your own source. Most of this release is about what happens after that. Two bigger things and a pile of smaller ones.

If you run it in something other than English and a string reads badly, or we missed some literals, please say so.

Vuleo 1.1.18 Beta is out - Customizable tiles and more ratings

1.1.18 build 300 is now live for early access. You can install it as APK or Windows installer. Two new PRO features:

  • New tile styles: wide artwork with the title on it, rating badges, and a time-left chip on Continue Watching.
  • Movie and series pages now show the rating sources you picked.
  • Continue Watching names the right episode again, and casting no longer clears your progress.
  • On TV, pressing down from the hero slides more rows into view.
  • Tiles keep their artwork when an image link dies or a service is briefly down.

Vuleo 1.1.17 is out: a big responsiveness pass for TV boxes, plus playback fixes

Hi everyone,

Vuleo 1.1.17 is out. Vuleo is a media player for playlists you already own. It does not include, provide, or sell any channels, streams, or playlists. You point it at your own source and it plays it, the same way on your phone, your desktop, and your TV.

This release was mostly about one thing: making the app feel fast on cheap TV hardware. I spent the last week profiling on a low-powered stick with a large playlist and fixing what the numbers showed, rather than guessing. There is also a batch of playback and metadata fixes.

Faster and calmer on TV

  • Your remote now comes first. Background work such as loading a playlist, parsing the guide or scanning for new content now steps aside the moment you press a direction key. Menus stay responsive while a big load is running instead of stuttering for a minute.
  • Fixed several freezes on lower-powered TV boxes and sticks, including one where deleting a playlist or refreshing during playback could lock the UI.
  • The guide no longer starves a playlist load. Previously a guide download could take the whole processing slot and leave a playlist stuck part-way through.
  • No more double loading. A playlist could occasionally start loading twice at the same time, doubling the work for no reason. Now there is exactly one load in flight per playlist.
  • Calmer loading animations on constrained devices, so the animation itself is not competing for the CPU with the load.
  • Auto update for APK installations now implemented so that the app will notify you in every build and you do not have to install manually anymore.

Streams that used to fail now play

  • Hardware decoder failures now fall back to software instead of ending in an error. If your device's video decoder gives up on a stream, Vuleo retries in software automatically.
  • Older MPEG-4 video plays on devices that have no decoder for it at all, decoded in software through the bundled FFmpeg.
  • MP3 audio that a device's decoder chokes on is now routed to the software decoder instead of playing silently.
  • Some panels block requests based on how an app connects, not who it is. Vuleo now detects that kind of block and retries over a different network stack (Android) and over system DNS, which fixes a chunk of "playlist won't load / 403" reports.
  • The debug log now records which decode path a video took, which makes playback reports much easier for me to act on.

Live TV

  • New "Recents" tile in the Live TV categories, next to Favorites. It lists your last 20 played channels, newest first, and respects your parental lock and adult-content settings.
  • The Guide now tells you when playlists are still loading instead of incorrectly claiming there is no guide data.

Player

  • Audio and subtitle tracks now lead with the language: Turkish [Stereo], English [Full], English [Full] (Forced). The language is what you are actually picking, so it goes first.
  • Skip Intro / Skip Recap countdown fixed. It now reads as a round 10 seconds, the ring stays visible through its final second, and it no longer appears on segments too short to matter.
  • Action buttons on the movie detail screen no longer overflow the row on TV.

Continue Watching, episodes and metadata

  • Episode titles resolve in your content language first, then English, then the show's primary language.
  • No more duplicated episode numbers. The provider's own title is rendered once, with the season/episode coordinate added exactly once.
  • Continue Watching poster tiles show the poster, not a stretched episode still.
  • More items resume correctly. Shows that had picked up a mangled internal id used to dead-end instead of resuming; they now resolve properly.
  • Fewer wrong posters and wrong metadata matches for oddly-named items.

Loading status

  • The status pill now shows real progress per playlist and which part is loading (Live, Movies, Series) instead of a vague spinner.
  • It stays out of the way during first-run setup, and guide-loading noise no longer clutters it.
  • Vuleo now warns you before enabling Optimized Loading on a source that rate-limits, instead of letting you walk into a wall of errors.

Sports Radar (PRO)

Radar follows the teams you pick and points you at the channel in your own guide that is carrying the match. This release makes the matching a lot better:

  • Portal-based sources are now searched too, by fetching their live channel list.
  • Broadcaster names are matched on whole words, with accents folded, "+" understood as "Plus", and spelled-out numbers matched to digits.
  • Multiple portals are queried at once and partial results appear immediately, so the search no longer appears to freeze.
  • Cached results show up instantly instead of waiting behind a portal fetch.

To be clear about what this is: Radar only ever resolves to channels that already exist in your own sources. It does not find, add, or provide anything.

Stability and housekeeping

  • Fixed a crash on the home screen rows.
  • Fixed errors after a factory reset, and when the cache folder is removed while the app is running.
  • Search handles numbers inside titles better.
  • Log sharing from the TV app now copies the full log correctly, so support emails actually contain the whole thing.
  • Hardened the payment and cloud endpoints on the web side after a security review.

New here?

Vuleo plays your own sources: M3U playlists (URL or file), Xtream Codes accounts, and Stalker portals. You can add several and merge them into one view. It runs on iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets, Android TV / Google TV / Fire TV, and Windows, with per-person profiles, an interactive guide, favorites and custom lists, watch progress and next-episode auto-play, subtitle styling, and parental controls.

The free version covers playback, favorites, custom lists, search and profiles, with no full-screen ads. PRO adds offline downloads, Chromecast, Google Drive sync across devices, full guide access and guide search, unlimited playlists, full metadata, subtitle customization and new-content alerts. Monthly, annual and lifetime plans.

Download

Reminder again: Vuleo is a player, nothing else. It does not sell or provide any service, channels, or streams, and it ships with no playlists. You bring your own source. I also can't help with finding or troubleshooting providers, but I'm happy to answer anything about the app itself in the comments.

Feedback and bug reports are very welcome. If you hit a playback problem, the in-app debug log share makes it much easier for me to fix.

Vuleo 1.2.11 out on Apple TV: your live channels, movies & series from your own sources, with cross-device resume

Hey r/appletv! I've been developing Vuleo for around a year, and this is my first time posting it here. Not trying to hard-sell; I'd genuinely like feedback from people who live on the platform.

What it is: Vuleo is a media player for your own content. It ships with no built-in content, you point it at an M3U playlist or an Xtream Codes login you already have, and it organizes everything into Live TV, Movies, and Series with proper artwork, categories, and an EPG. Think of it as a nicer front-end for a library you already own, built for the tvOS remote from the ground up (D-pad focus navigation, no fighting the interface).

It's also cross-platform, so the same account/library works on iPhone/iPad, Android, Android TV, Fire TV, Windows, and macOS, but this post is about the Apple TV build specifically.

Free, no strings, no trial:

  • Live TV, Movies & Series from M3U and Xtream Codes sources
  • Unlimited number of playlists addable
  • Built-in EPG / XMLTV program guide
  • Continue watching + resume
  • Favorites and categories
  • Trending / content matching
  • No ads in any platform

Optional PRO (only if you want it):

  • Cloud sync across all your devices (via your own Google Drive), no device limit
  • Catch-up TV / replay
  • EPG search
  • Trakt integration
  • Subtitle customization
  • Offline downloads + Chromecast casting (on the platforms that support it)
  • Profiles: you and your family members can have their own personalization
  • Personalized recommendations and new-content alerts
  • Radar: Follow the leagues and teams you like and Vuleo finds the events from your EPG.

Recent updates (v1.2.11):

  • Full visual refresh: new typography and a cleaner, glassy navigation layout
  • Hero carousel on Home + genre-based recommendation rows
  • Cast & crew browsing (tap an actor to see their filmography)
  • EPG improvements: a summonable category lens and a "recently added" view
  • Experimental: Hand-off to an external player (e.g. Infuse) if you prefer it

What it is not: it doesn't provide any channels, streams, or content. If you don't already have a playlist or provider, there's nothing to watch, that's on you to supply.

A small note: The image is from my test environment where content is AI generated so it is real UI with imaginary movies / series and teams for my automated tests to run.

If you want to try it, search "Vuleo" on the tvOS App Store (free, with an optional subscription).

Honest asks for this crowd:

  • How does the focus/remote navigation feel to you?
  • Anything about the EPG or Continue Watching that feels off on a real Apple TV?
  • What would make you actually keep it on your home screen?

Vuleo 1.1.13 is out: Radar now covers way more sports, plus a reminder that your IPTV player and Stremio live in one app

Vuleo 1.1.13 is live. The big change this time is Radar's scope, but I want to hit both the new stuff and something a lot of people still don't realize the app does.

First, the reminder. Vuleo is a full IPTV player and Stremio in one app. That has been the case for a while now, and it's still one of the best reasons to use it. Your M3U playlists, your VOD, your series, and your Stremio addons all live in one place. Movies and series pull from both your playlist sources and Stremio at the same time, so a title shows you every stream it can find without you jumping between apps. One home screen, one search, one continue-watching row. If you're still running a separate player and a separate Stremio setup, you don't need to. And the best part, using this combination together with no "playlist count", "stremio add-on count" for completely free. This is not a PRO feature.

Now the actual update. We gave Radar a serious expansion. Radar is the feature that follows the sports you care about and surfaces the games on your home screen when they're on. It used to be a short list. Now it covers a lot.

Apart from the ongoing FIFA World Cup, here is the full list of what you can follow in Radar right now:

Football (Soccer)

  • Premier League
  • La Liga
  • Serie A
  • Bundesliga
  • Ligue 1
  • Eredivisie
  • Primeira Liga
  • Championship
  • Süper Lig
  • MLS
  • A-League
  • Champions League
  • Europa League

Basketball

  • NBA
  • EuroLeague

American Football

  • NFL
  • CFL
  • College Football (NCAAF)

Baseball

  • MLB

Ice Hockey

  • NHL

Motorsport

  • Formula 1
  • Formula 2
  • Formula E
  • MotoGP
  • NASCAR
  • Supercars

Combat Sports

  • UFC
  • Boxing
  • WWE

Rugby

  • Six Nations
  • United Rugby Championship
  • Champions Cup
  • NRL

Australian Football

  • AFL

Cricket

  • IPL
  • Big Bash League
  • The Hundred

Pick the leagues and events you follow, and Radar handles the rest. It finds the broadcast in your playlists and puts the match front and center when it's live. Football fans get thirteen competitions. Motorsport fans get six series. Whether you're into the NFL on Sunday, MotoGP on the weekend, or the Champions League midweek, it's all there.

Update through your usual channel and let us know what you think.

🥳 Vuleo 1.1.12 is out! Headline feature: Radar

Hello everyone,

I just released Vuleo 1.1.12 for all Android devices. Vuleo is an all in one media player for your IPTV playlists and Stremio add-ons. I made a rebrand recently from PlayOnTV to not violate trademark of some other party. With this release, I am introducing two major features:

  • Your home screen is now fully customizable through settings. You can change the order of home screen rows, hide or show different ones.
  • Radar: You can add your interests through the settings and Vuleo will show you the schedule of events and in which channels inside of your playlists they are broadcasted. (See second and third images) Radar at the moment comes with all major competitions like Premier League, La Liga, NBA, NFL, NHL, F1, NASCAR, MotoGP, UFC, IPL and many more.

Let me know what you think and what other events should we add to Radar so that you can follow your favorite sports more easily.

🎉 PlayOnTV Media Player 1.1.6 is out for Android TV — thanks to the feedback that shaped it

We've been working on a cross-platform Media Player (Android TV, and many more), and a lot of what went into the latest update came from feedback and bug reports we've gotten from people. So mostly: thank you.

A few things this cycle focused on, since they're TV-relevant:

- Performance and memory on TV hardware — startup is quicker, image caching is downscaled and persisted to disk, and there's proper memory-pressure handling so low-RAM sticks and boxes stay stable even with very large playlists.

- Smoother images — posters and logos load from an on-disk cache instead of re-fetching.

- More reliable background sync and faster cold starts on TV.

- Broader compatibility — it now works with multiple playlist and API types, so more setups should "just work" without fiddling.

- A free, optional home-screen row for the upcoming World Cup 2026 that uses your own EPG to point you at whichever of your channels is carrying each match.

If you've ever reported something or suggested an idea, there's a decent chance it's in here — genuinely appreciated.

You can download it from Play Store, or sideload using the APK or Downloader code: https://playontv-app.web.app/player.html

Happy to answer any questions about running it on Android TV.

🎉 PlayOnTV Media Player is out for Android TV — thanks to the feedback that shaped it

🎉 PlayOnTV 1.1.5 Released - Xtream. Stalker Portal, Trakt, Stremio on Android TV, Apple TV, iOS, Android, macOS and Windows with a World Cup touch

Hey everyone — this is one of our biggest releases yet. Here's what landed in 1.1.5.

📺 Trakt integration

Your watch history now lives where the rest of your stuff does.

  • Two-way sync — what you watch in PlayOnTV is pushed to Trakt, and what you've watched elsewhere gets recognized and pulled back in.
  • Smart Continue Watching — shows and movies you finished on another app are reconciled automatically, promoted into Continue Watching, and de-duped in Up Next.
  • Manual control — mark anything Watched / Unwatched and it syncs straight to your Trakt history.

If you live in the Trakt ecosystem, PlayOnTV now just fits in.

🧩 Stremio support

We added Stremio addon support so you can pull in even more sources alongside your playlists.

  • Works with Real-Debrid, AllDebrid, Premiumize, and TorBox.
  • A redesigned source chooser — pick your stream with clear quality buckets, "Find Stream" / "Find & Resume" actions, and a layout built for both touch and TV remotes.
  • One unified detail screen for playlist and Stremio content — no jarring switch between two worlds.
  • Offline downloads for movies and episodes, with the file size shown right under each download button.

⚡ Performance — the part you'll feel

We spent a lot of this cycle making the app faster and lighter, especially on TV / Firestick hardware.

  • Faster, smoother startup — heavy work moved off the loading path so the home screen shows up sooner.
  • Big memory improvements — image caching is downscaled and persisted to disk, with memory-pressure handling so low-RAM TV devices stay stable even with huge playlists.
  • Snappier images everywhere — posters and logos load from an optimized on-disk cache instead of re-fetching.
  • More reliable sync — long sessions no longer drift into auth errors, and cold starts on TV are quicker.

Lots of smaller fixes throughout too.

⚽ Special mention: World Cup 2026 mode

With the tournament around the corner, we built a dedicated World Cup row right on your home screen.

  • Bundled 2026 fixtures — schedule, groups, and the knockout bracket.
  • It automatically finds which of your channels is broadcasting each match using your EPG, so you can jump straight into the game.
  • Free for everyone — no PRO required.
  • Knockout teams reveal themselves as the groups resolve, no app update needed.
  • There is a small bug in group G/H and K/L that will be fixed with the 1.1.6 version which will be dedicated to this problem.

Set it, and you'll never miss kickoff.

That's 1.1.5. Update is out — let us know what you think, and as always, bug reports and feature requests are welcome. 🙌

🎉 PlayOnTV 1.1.2 Released - Trakt, Catch-up, Personalized Recommendations and much more

PlayOnTV 1.1.2 is now released for all platforms: iOS, Android, Android TV and Windows. Apple TV version is 1.2.0 and is also released now.

We now added a purchase page directly to our website which brings the prices approximately down about 40% if you subscribe with this alternative. Annual subscription now costs 1.25 euros / month in our website.

What's new

Personalized VOD Recommendations — PlayOnTV now understands what you like and gives you personalized recommendations from your sources. The selection is based on the genres, types of the VOD, year and continent of production. Personalization comes with a new UI in the Home Screen as well as nudges like 'Because you liked ...' or 'Because you watched ...' type labels.

Stalker portal support — native EPG (with XMLTV hybrid matching), catch-up TV, and lazy-loading for PRO users so huge portals don't blow up memory.

Catch-up TV — works on both Stalker and Xtream. Catch-up badges across Live TV / EPG, a "Catch-up only" filter, and a redesigned player overlay for live / timeshift / catch-up modes.

Trakt integration — custom lists, profile-specific Trakt accounts, watch-history sync with dedup, and Trakt rows on the TV home.

EPG overhaul — country-aware channel matching, program dedup across sources, a "With guide only" filter, better alignment in the player, and improved Guide navigation on TV.

TV D-pad navigation pass — row memory, proper axis separation, no silent diagonal jumps, hero carousel and player overlay fixes.

Performance — memory-safe Xtream fast path using isolate disk writers, smaller M3U parsing footprint, playlist enable/disable no longer freezes the UI.

Stability fixes

  • EPG download now drains to disk before parsing (fixes mobile stalls)
  • XMLTV programmes parse regardless of attribute order
  • Android TV native text fields use hybrid composition (no more garbled colored static)
  • Catch-up stalling on Xtream HLS streams resolved
  • Disposed-widget race crashes from 1.1.1 fixed

Apple TV users — all of the above is coming in 1.2.0, which is the next release on that platform. tvOS got skipped on 1.1.x while we caught up on parity; 1.2.0 brings it in line.
