PlayOnTV started as a pet project. I could not find a cross-platform IPTV player that was simple, clean, and reliable. Most apps felt clunky, or they only worked well on one type of device. So I decided to build my own which works in Android, Android TV, Firestick, iOS, Apple TV and Windows.

Over the last 6 months, I turned that pet project into a real product for everyone. Today I am releasing version 1.1.

PlayOnTV is a reliable IPTV player for the everyday user with no full screen ads in free version. It plays Live TV, movies, and series from your own playlist. It works the same way on mobile, desktop, and TV, so you get one familiar app on every screen. It does not include any channels or streams. You bring your own M3U playlist, Xtream Codes account, or Stalker Portal.

This update adds multiple user profiles, a new design, and many smaller improvements.

What is New in 1.1

Multiple profiles

Create a profile for each person in your home. Each profile keeps its own watch history, favorites, and lists. You can lock a profile with a PIN. You can also set one profile to open automatically.

Fresh design

The Android TV home screen has a new cinematic layout. Mobile has a new floating navigation bar with a frosted glass style. Backdrops now change to match the content you browse.

Redesigned settings

Settings are now grouped by profile. It is easier to find what you need.

Grid or list view

You can now switch between grid and list view for movies and series categories. The same toggle is coming to list of series and movies with the next update.

Per-playlist auto-refresh

Set an auto-refresh time for each playlist on its own. You get a notification when new content is ready.

Per-playlist category hiding

Hide a category in one playlist only. Your other playlists stay the same.

Smarter Recently Added

Recently Added now uses real timestamps from your provider. This works for Xtream Codes and Stalker Portal, so new content is more accurate.

More subtitle fonts

There are more subtitle fonts to choose from. The picker shows a live preview of each font.

Redesigned downloads

The downloads screen has a cleaner layout. Cloud sync now loads your data in steps for a smoother start.

More stable

This release fixes several crashes. D-pad navigation on TV is smoother.
