Vuleo 1.3.4 is out, and you can now record live TV.

Pick a program in the guide, or press Record in the player. Vuleo saves it on your device, ready when you want to watch. Schedule a program for later, and Vuleo records it while your device stays on. You can still use your device while Vuleo records.

On TV and desktop, the guide now has a live preview. Browse the grid, and the channel you land on plays beside it.

You can also reorder and hide the tabs in the navigation bar. On Android, you choose where new recordings and downloads are saved.

Many of you have been asking for this and the day has come. Vuleo Server is out! It is a small program for a Windows computer at home. It turns the films and series in your folders into a library, with posters, seasons and episodes. You then watch that library in Vuleo on your TV, phone or another computer on your home network.

What it does

• Recognises names such as Film Title (2019).mkv and Show S01E02.mkv, season folders and folders of numbered episodes
• Uses the poster.jpg or folder.jpg beside your videos, and reads Kodi-style .nfo files for the plot, year and genre
• Puts your playlists and Xtream Codes accounts in the same library, with their TV guide
• Lets you rename, move or hide any title from your browser
• Reads your folders again every six hours, so new files appear in Vuleo by themselves
• Plays your files as they are, with seeking, and Vuleo remembers where you stopped
• Answers only devices on your home network

Set it up

1. Download it from https://vuleo.tv/server.html (Windows 10 or later, 64-bit)
2. Update Vuleo to build 341. Settings → About & Support shows your build
3. In Vuleo, add a playlist, choose Xtream Codes, and enter the three details from the server's Credentials page

Build 341 is on Fire TV, Windows and sideloaded Android now: Vuleo offers the update when you open it. On Google Play it arrives once the store serves it.

Good to know: the installer is not signed, so Windows may name an unknown publisher. Choose More info, then Run. The server runs on Windows only for now, and the Web player at vuleo.tv cannot use it due to browser limitations.

Vuleo Server is for personal use in your own household. It includes no videos, channels or playlists. Use it with media you have the right to use, and with playlists whose terms allow use on your devices.

Note: Server will only work with Vuleo Player 341 and future versions. So, please update before adding the credientials to Vuleo Player.

Radar is the part of Vuleo that reads a public event schedule and tells you which of your own sources has a match. Until now it only knew club football. It now carries the men's senior national sides as well.

For anyone who has not seen Vuleo before: it is a media player for sources you bring yourself. You add your own M3U playlist or Xtream Codes login and it lays your live channels, movies and series out in one interface. It includes no channels, playlists, portals or addons, ships with none, and links to none. It runs on Android, Android TV and Fire TV, Windows, iOS, macOS and Apple TV.

What changed

There is a new International Football folder under Settings → Radar, and the national sides are followable one by one — search for yours and track it, the same way you would a club.

Every men's senior national side the schedule lists is followable, 219 of them today.

Once a side is followed, its fixtures appear on your home screen with the kick-off time. Open one and Vuleo searches your own live channels and your own guide data for it.

The design has not changed, and that part is the point: Radar cannot find broadcasts if you do not own one.

It is already live

The schedule and the list of what is followable come from the cloud rather than from the app, so there is no update to wait for and nothing to sideload. Open Settings → Radar and the folder is there. Next update will have the country names in your own language, but the countries are already trackable with their English names.

Following a side and the home row are free. The channel finder — the part that tells you which of your channels has the fixture — is part of PRO. PRO unlocks player features only and grants no right to any content.

This is a small release. Most of the last few weeks went into getting the browser player into shape, and that is up now - more on it below.

What is new in 1.3.2

Profile pictures

A profile can now carry a photo instead of one of the built-in icons. You set it in Manage Profiles, and profiles that already exist keep their icon until you pick a picture for one. With PRO's Drive sync on, the picture follows the profile to your other devices.

Watch Again

A new home row for what the current profile has finished, sitting next to Continue Watching. A title is in one row or the other, never both: a film moves across when you finish it, a series once every episode is done. It obeys the same rules the Continue Watching rail does, so your playlist filter, hidden categories, the age limit and Adult Incognito all still apply.

Continue Watching opens as a searchable grid

"See All" on the rail now opens the same list as a grid with a search box. If you have forty part-watched things, scrolling a rail sideways was not a way to find one. Same list, same order, same dismissals, just searchable.

Six new Simkl rows

If you have Simkl connected: Continue on Simkl, From Your Simkl Watchlist, Airing Soon, Trending, Most Watched and New Releases. They live in the Home Screen Layout editor and reorder or hide exactly like the Trakt rows. Your Simkl library also syncs when the app starts now, not only when it wakes.

Playback and loading

A live stream that will not demux is retried as HLS instead of dead-ending. An origin that refuses IPv6 gets one retry over IPv4 rather than a dead player. A live channel your provider filed under "movies" or "series" stays in Live TV where it belongs. M3U series now open with their episodes from every screen, not only from the grid. On TV, channel up/down while the EPG list is open no longer crashes the player.

Radar

Better matching between the public event schedule and the channels in your own sources, plus fixes to the hourly schedule top-up so a feed that goes quiet does not take the day's events with it.

Plus the usual stability and memory work, aimed mostly at 32-bit TV boxes where headroom is tight.

The browser player, in beta

This is where the time actually went. Vuleo now runs in a browser tab - the same app, your same sources, your same continue-watching list, with nothing to install on the machine in front of you.

It is a beta, and a browser can genuinely do less than the app can. The things you will run into, said up front rather than discovered:

- Your sources have to be on https://. The player runs on a secure page, and a browser will not load a plain http:// source into one. No setting on our side changes that. The app has no such restriction.

- A source has to send CORS headers. Some panels serve a perfectly good playlist to everything except a web page, and nothing in the page can override that.

- iPhone and iPad are stricter. Every browser on iOS is WebKit underneath, which will not load http:// sources at all and is fussier about video formats.

- A local server is out of reach. If your playlist points at localhost or an address on your own network, no browser can get to it. Use the app for those.

- No downloads, no Chromecast, no picture-in-picture. Those stay in the app.

- Chrome ships no AC-3/E-AC-3 decoder, so some VOD plays there with picture and no sound. Edge and Safari play the same file fine.

- It is part of PRO, at no extra cost.

Most of what I expected to be a wall turned out not to be: real Xtream panels load, live channels play, movies and series play, Stalker portals hand-shake, and a 96 MB XMLTV guide parses and survives a page reload. Feedback on it is very welcome - it is a beta, and I would rather hear about a broken source than not.

On Apple TV

Apple TV has its own native app, on the same App Store listing as the iPhone, iPad and Mac versions, so one purchase covers all four. It is a separate codebase and runs slightly to its own schedule. Its 1.3.2 brings:

- Artwork your own provider supplies is now used for the Home hero and the film and series screens, instead of stretching the poster.

- The same six Simkl rows on Home, orderable like the Trakt ones.

- Watch Again, for shows you have finished.

- Custom lists you can create, fill and open.

- Live channels a provider grouped as "movies" or "series" stay in Live TV.

- A stream the app was refused now retries with a different container, then a different identity, before giving up.

- An EPG source that failed is no longer credited with the guide it did not deliver, and the next launch refetches just that one.

- Hiding a title now removes it from the screen it was hidden from.

- VoiceOver reads real names on Sort, Settings and the player controls, instead of icon symbol names.

- One 502 from a Stalker portal no longer condemns the whole source.

Vuleo is a cross platform media player that you can play your m3u, Xtream and other sources in a user friendly UX. It has been available in iOS, macOS, Apple TV, Android, Android TV, Fire TV via sideloading and Windows. We've been also working on getting Vuleo to the web and we have released the first version of it today. You can now try it out in any platform you like. This is the same player you are using in your phone / TV but running at a browser. There are some clarifications I'd like to make and also some browser related limitations that I'll list here:

• Web player is a web app, running locally on your device. So, you do not transfer any data to us by using it.
• Your data comes to the app as you sign in with Google and syncs as if you were playing through the app.
• Stream sources play normally on the web app as we have tested.
• Web app has exact same feature as any other device platform we release but it has some browser specific limitations I will list here:
  • Xtream, m3u are limited to full HTTPS content for iOS devices. This is because of vuleo.tv is a secure HTTPS website and iOS does not allow mixed content. Those will work in Windows, Linux and macOS. Worst case is enabling a flag in settings that the web app will guide you.
• Some video/audio formats may not play on web video player. We will address those as they come but there may be some hard limits that we cannot fix about it.
• Web Player is available only for subscribers.
• Chromecast and Downloads are not available in Web Player.

I bumped the version to 1.3.0 with the next build and there is a reason for it 🥳 With this version, Vuleo gets another flagship feature:

- Multi-view: now you can play as many live channels as you want in Vuleo. Limit is your device.
- Radar auto-play. Now you can enable this and Radar will play your upcoming event from the channel you watch this kind of events most.

Parental controls
Set an age limit on any profile. Anything above it is hidden rather than just blocked, so a child never sees what they cannot watch. The limit is protected by a PIN, and each prompt now tells you which PIN it is asking for.

Kids profiles
A kids profile gets its own home screen, built around the child's age, with rows instead of a big hero banner. Leaving a kids profile needs the PIN, so nobody wanders out of it by accident. If some content does not have an age rating, you have option to deny access / allow or allow via your parental PIN.

Age ratings everywhere
Movies, series and the TV guide now show the certificate, and you can tap it to see what it actually means.

It speaks 11 languages now

English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Nederlands, Polski, Português (Brasil), Türkçe, Ελληνικά and العربية. You pick it in Settings, and it applies immediately without a restart.

Arabic also flips the whole layout right to left, which was the part that took quite an effort.

It is not only the menus. Genre names, country and language names, sport and competition names, error messages, the loading text, even the update notes go through the same translation.

If you were already using the app in English, nothing switches behind your back. It asks you once whether you want your device language, and you can say no.

Tile customization (PRO)

There is a Tile Style screen now with a live preview at the top:

• Poster tiles (tall 2:3) or wide tiles (16:9 backdrop art)
• A chip showing how much time is left on something you started, or how many episodes are left in a series
• Rating badges drawn right on the artwork

More rating sources (PRO)

You can pick from IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, RT Audience, Metacritic, TMDb, Trakt and Letterboxd, and put them in the order you actually care about.

Detail pages show every source you picked. Tiles show the first few that have a score, so a missing rating never leaves a hole. Scores are only fetched for tiles on screen, and only once per title.

Smaller things that add up

• Playlist loading streams to disk on your device instead of going through memory, and the catalog is no longer re-parsed on every launch. Big lists start noticeably faster and are less likely to run out of memory on a stick.
• Refreshing a playlist no longer empties the home screen while it works.
• Favorites and resume points are keyed to the title rather than the stream URL, so they survive a source changing its URLs.
• Trakt: if you started something in another app, it resumes from there instead of the beginning.
• Continue Watching shows the real series name and episode title instead of a raw S01E02 style code, and picks the right artwork when two shows have the same name.
• A downloaded subtitle now actually selects and sticks.
• Windows can update itself in the app now, and the update prompt tells you what is in the update instead of just a version number, in your language.
• Ten crashes that had been alive since build 192 are gone.

Hi everyone,

Vuleo 1.1.17 is out. Vuleo is a media player for playlists you already own. It does not include, provide, or sell any channels, streams, or playlists. You point it at your own source and it plays it, the same way on your phone, your desktop, and your TV.

This release was mostly about one thing: making the app feel fast on cheap TV hardware. I spent the last week profiling on a low-powered stick with a large playlist and fixing what the numbers showed, rather than guessing. There is also a batch of playback and metadata fixes.

Faster and calmer on TV

• Your remote now comes first. Background work such as loading a playlist, parsing the guide or scanning for new content now steps aside the moment you press a direction key. Menus stay responsive while a big load is running instead of stuttering for a minute.
• Fixed several freezes on lower-powered TV boxes and sticks, including one where deleting a playlist or refreshing during playback could lock the UI.
• The guide no longer starves a playlist load. Previously a guide download could take the whole processing slot and leave a playlist stuck part-way through.
• No more double loading. A playlist could occasionally start loading twice at the same time, doubling the work for no reason. Now there is exactly one load in flight per playlist.
• Calmer loading animations on constrained devices, so the animation itself is not competing for the CPU with the load.
• Auto update for APK installations now implemented so that the app will notify you in every build and you do not have to install manually anymore.

Streams that used to fail now play

• Hardware decoder failures now fall back to software instead of ending in an error. If your device's video decoder gives up on a stream, Vuleo retries in software automatically.
• Older MPEG-4 video plays on devices that have no decoder for it at all, decoded in software through the bundled FFmpeg.
• MP3 audio that a device's decoder chokes on is now routed to the software decoder instead of playing silently.
• Some panels block requests based on how an app connects, not who it is. Vuleo now detects that kind of block and retries over a different network stack (Android) and over system DNS, which fixes a chunk of "playlist won't load / 403" reports.
• The debug log now records which decode path a video took, which makes playback reports much easier for me to act on.

Live TV

• New "Recents" tile in the Live TV categories, next to Favorites. It lists your last 20 played channels, newest first, and respects your parental lock and adult-content settings.
• The Guide now tells you when playlists are still loading instead of incorrectly claiming there is no guide data.

Player

• Audio and subtitle tracks now lead with the language: Turkish [Stereo], English [Full], English [Full] (Forced). The language is what you are actually picking, so it goes first.
• Skip Intro / Skip Recap countdown fixed. It now reads as a round 10 seconds, the ring stays visible through its final second, and it no longer appears on segments too short to matter.
• Action buttons on the movie detail screen no longer overflow the row on TV.

Continue Watching, episodes and metadata

• Episode titles resolve in your content language first, then English, then the show's primary language.
• No more duplicated episode numbers. The provider's own title is rendered once, with the season/episode coordinate added exactly once.
• Continue Watching poster tiles show the poster, not a stretched episode still.
• More items resume correctly. Shows that had picked up a mangled internal id used to dead-end instead of resuming; they now resolve properly.
• Fewer wrong posters and wrong metadata matches for oddly-named items.

Loading status

• The status pill now shows real progress per playlist and which part is loading (Live, Movies, Series) instead of a vague spinner.
• It stays out of the way during first-run setup, and guide-loading noise no longer clutters it.
• Vuleo now warns you before enabling Optimized Loading on a source that rate-limits, instead of letting you walk into a wall of errors.

Sports Radar (PRO)

Radar follows the teams you pick and points you at the channel in your own guide that is carrying the match. This release makes the matching a lot better:

• Portal-based sources are now searched too, by fetching their live channel list.
• Broadcaster names are matched on whole words, with accents folded, "+" understood as "Plus", and spelled-out numbers matched to digits.
• Multiple portals are queried at once and partial results appear immediately, so the search no longer appears to freeze.
• Cached results show up instantly instead of waiting behind a portal fetch.

To be clear about what this is: Radar only ever resolves to channels that already exist in your own sources. It does not find, add, or provide anything.

Stability and housekeeping

• Fixed a crash on the home screen rows.
• Fixed errors after a factory reset, and when the cache folder is removed while the app is running.
• Search handles numbers inside titles better.
• Log sharing from the TV app now copies the full log correctly, so support emails actually contain the whole thing.
• Hardened the payment and cloud endpoints on the web side after a security review.
