Planning a Goa road trip in September (via Udupi/Murdeshwar/Gokarna) — need some local advice!

Hey folks 👋

Me and my buddy are planning a road trip to Goa in the first week of September. Route is:

Udupi → Murdeshwar Beach → Gokarna → North Goa (self-drive, car)

Quick context: I’ve been to Goa before and I’m married, but this is my friend’s first-ever Goa trip — he’s flying in from Kolkata to Bangalore just for this, so I really want to make it count for him.

Would love some inputs from people who know the North Goa area well:

1. Where should we stay — Baga, Vagator, or Morjim?
Looking for something that balances chill vibes with easy access to nightlife/beach hopping.

2. Can we carry our own beer to the beach?
We’ve got a chiller box + Decathlon folding chairs and want to just set up on the sand instead of relying on shacks. Is this legal / commonly done, or will we run into issues?

3. Car vs renting a scooty for North Goa?
We’re not looking to “cover everything” — it’s monsoon season, so we’re leaning towards a slower, more relaxed pace rather than running from beach to beach. Does a car work fine for that, or is a scooty still worth it?

4. Any must-do experiences for a Goa first-timer?
Since it’s his first trip, I want to make sure we hit the right spots — sunset points, food, maybe a boat ride, local markets, etc. Bonus points for monsoon-specific recommendations (waterfalls, greenery, etc.)

Any tips, hidden gems, or “avoid this” warnings are super welcome! 🙏

TL;DR: Road-tripping to Goa in Sept with a Goa first-timer — need advice on where to stay (Baga/Vagator/Morjim), beach alcohol rules, car vs scooty for monsoon season, and first-timer must-dos.

2 guys road-tripping Bengaluru → Udupi → Murdeshwar/Gokarna → Goa (late Aug/early Sept) - need stay & travel tips!

Hey everyone,

Two of us (bachelors) are planning a road trip from Bengaluru to Goa via Udupi and Murdeshwar Beach (near Gokarna), traveling end of August into the first week of September. Looking for advice from anyone who’s done a similar route or stayed in the area recently.

**What we need help with:**

\*\*•	Stay in Goa\*\*: Looking for beachfront or walking-distance-from-beach options. Budget is max ₹3k/night — we’d rather spend on experiences than fancy rooms, so functional and well-located over luxurious.
\*\*•	Parking\*\*: We’re driving down, so a place with proper car parking is a must.
\*\*•	Route stops\*\*: Any good places to stay/eat/see in Udupi or around Murdeshwar/Gokarna worth stopping for?
\*\*•	Timing\*\*: Since it’s monsoon tail-end (late Aug–early Sept), any specific things to watch out for — weather, sea conditions, closed shacks/beaches, etc.?
\*\*•	General dos and don’ts\*\*: Areas to avoid, common tourist traps, safety tips, or anything you wish you knew before your trip.

Any recommendations — hidden gems, must-try food, or “avoid this at all costs” warnings — would be super appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Frequent Petrol User – Which Fuel Credit Card Should I Choose?

Hello Friends,

I own a Skoda Kylaq, Triumph Scrambler 400X, and a Honda Activa, and all three run on petrol. Considering my regular fuel expenses, I’m planning to get a co-branded fuel credit card and would love to hear your suggestions.

After some research, I’ve shortlisted these options: 1. SBI BPCL High Octane Credit Card
Annual fee: ₹1,799 (including GST)
Can be used for both fuel purchases and Bharatgas cylinder refills.

2. HPCL Co-branded Credit Card
Rewards seem attractive, but I’ve read that redeeming reward points can be a bit of a hassle compared to BPCL.

For those who have used either of these cards, which one would you recommend based on real-world experience? Are there any better alternatives that offer higher value for regular fuel spending?

Any suggestions or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Trip to Mahabalipuram

Hello guys,
I need some suggestions from those who frequently travel from Bengaluru to Chennai.

I usually take this route: Hoskote → NE7 Highway → Venkatagirikota → Gudiyatham → Vellore → Chennai

The drive on the NE7 Highway is excellent, but once I exit towards Venkatagirikota and Gudiyatham, the roads become congested with town traffic, which makes that part of the journey quite frustrating.
Is there an alternative route that stays on highways for as long as possible? I’m happy to pay tolls if it means a smoother, less stressful drive with minimal city traffic and congestion.

Any recommended routes or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Suggestion for Dash-cam and Memory card for my Kylaq

My preferred selected dashcam is 70mai A810 4K HDR dual dashcam.

Is that good product if someone is actually using it in real daily life? Or is there any other better alternative in the market?

Which brand SD card should we purchase to use in the dashcam. Online reviews are so complicated in deciding factors.

Please advise 🙏

Luggage racks for Triumph Scrambler400X

Hello Fellow Riders,

I would really need suggestions for my next luggage rack which can easily carry top box capacity of 35 ltr size. I usually carry my office laptop and some around 5kg stuff in the box so total load capacity needs to be 40-42kg.

I really need honest personal suggestions because finding through YouTube and internet is confusing and complicated stuff.

Note: last one broke off during journey and I just donated to some random bike shop just to ease my headache of carrying the broken one along with me for 400 km. Somehow managed to tie Top box through bungee cord.

Let’s make a group, all kolkata people staying in Bangalore

Hey folks! 👋

Random thought — there are so many Kolkata people living in Bangalore, working, surviving traffic, missing rolls, adda, Durga Pujo vibes, and occasionally craving a proper mishti or biryani 😄

So why not make a group for all Kolkata peeps staying in Bangalore? Could be a place to connect, make friends, plan meetups, share food spots, help newcomers, celebrate festivals, or just have some good old adda away from home.

If you're from Kolkata (or even nearby and relate 😄), drop a comment if you'd join. Let’s see how many of us are here! ❤️

Kolkata in Bangalore — assemble!

Edit: I’m non-Bengali, born and raised in Kolkata, started my career in Delhi and Bengaluru. Just to clarify the assumptions if any😉 staying in Bengalore from around 8-9 years without any certain group or friends circle.
