Someone sent 2.5k worth of ETH by mistake

A friend (genuinely) received about 2.5k worth of Ethereum to their phantom wallet. They've no idea where it came from. They've already successfully converted it to cash. There's surely no one out there sending 2.5k for dusting/address-poisoning scams. So far, no one has made contact looking to engineer a "refund" (thought not sure how they would).

What's the scam here, or is it most likely a mistake and someone just sent to the wrong address (in which case they should send it back, but that's his call)?

Talk to us about your forward, Coventry fans

Who is your starting striker right now, or is nobody nailed / a signing highly likely? Finding it very hard to find starting bench fodder this season.

Gonzalo García, the new 6m man

García’s arrival at Fulham complicates the 6m striker category: up until now I was fairly set on Igor Jesus over DCL, but now I’m thinking is GG worth a punt. His XG is much higher than Jesus, but obvs in a very different team and league. Thoughts?

City under Maresca

Thoughts on how City will line up under Maresca? Particularly interested in who might be nailed from midfielders: Rodri (if he stays), Anderson? Any other midfielders nailed? My thinking, at this stage, is no. Very tempted by Foden and Cherki, but wonder will Maresca have more faith in them than Pep did.

Forest under Glasner

What are thinking on Forest under Glasner? Will he get them playing like Crystal Palace and turn Neco into Muniz and Jesus into Mateta, or are they just one big trap?

Where would I buy red bricks?

Looking to buy about 30 red bricks for a small flower bed out the back. Nothing fancy, just your standard red brick. Nothing in Woodies or B&Q.

Are these pedestrian crossings?

What’s the deal with these two crossings by UCC?

Am I right in thinking that they’re not official crossings where motorists must give way, that they’re courtesy crossings where pedestrians do not have an automatic right-of-way?

Best shop in Cork city?

In the sea of dereliction and vape shops, what businesses are carrying Cork city on their shoulders?

I’ll start: Bradley’s. A beautiful shop in a well kept building, carrying fantastic stock, with lovely, helpful staff.

Which Sonos for Spotify?

I want to get a Sonos speaker for our downstairs living / dining room, which is open plan with our kitchen so not a small space (but a C19 property so not huge either).

This isn’t my main music space (which is run from a turntable upstairs). I wouldn’t say I’m an audiophile, more of an audio enthusiast who understands that different types of tech serve different use cases.

For a basic bitch use case like mine where I’m just using Spotify / TuneIn / podcasts over WiFi/Connect (lossless but obvs not Dolby Atmos), what’s the best one and done Sonos speaker? (I only want one speaker, not two.) The Era 100, 300? The Five?

I appreciate that the Five is designed for Stereo, but its lack of BT spooks me a little (for no obvious reason as I’ll be using WiFi, but it just seems like a weird thing not to have in a premium speaker). Size isn’t an issue but I do prefer the design and functionality of the 300, which is obvs sleeker and more feature rich. But that isn’t the deciding factor.

Is the 300 poor on stereo tracks? Would I be better off getting a 100 (budget option) or Five (designed for stereo)? Or am I overthinking it and the 300, which is the newer and a slightly smaller and feature rich speaker the better option (and will still give me really nice sound for my use case).

Thanks in advance for any advice. 🙏

Beaten provincial finalists should have home advantage in QFs

I know it’s old news but as we’re now getting to that time of year, beaten finalists in the hurling provincials really should have home advantage for their quarter-final.

Completely agree with Kieran Leddy’s view as expressed in this interview with John Fogarty last month:
https://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/gaa/arid-41829905.html

“I'm very much in favour of the provincial beaten finalists having a home advantage in the quarter-final. If you get to the provincial final, you should surely have some advantage over the team that finishes third. As things stand, you don't. Both end up in the same position.”

Can’t help but think that Clare weren’t too bothered in their final Round Robin game against Cork this afternoon (well, yesterday afternoon). While you’d think the opportunity of winning a Munster medal would mean a lot to a county with so few provincial titles, I thinks it’s clear they saw the game against Tipp as much more important: get into the All-Ireland series, and go again from there.

Obviously, All-Ireland titles are far more important than Munster titles, but to ensure we don’t completely diminish the value of our provincial finals (as it has become with football) Munster finals really should be incentivised for both teams. Whoever loses between Cork and Limerick in two weeks time should get a home a QF. It’s a simple and elegant improvement.

And tbh, I don’t doubt Offaly wouldn’t mind an away game with either Cork or Limerick in QF. Very handy gate receipts to be shared, especially if it’s in a sold out PUC (which it probably would be).

And like Leddy, I don’t buy the small stadium rebuke: if you don’t want your fans scrambling for tickets in a small away venue, don’t come third.

How is ASUS getting away with broken Adaptive QoS on Wifi 7 routers?

I recently upgraded to an ASUS RT-BE88U to manage some bufferbloat issues. I specifically bought this premium Wi-Fi 7 router because I needed the horsepower to run CAKE and Adaptive QoS.

When I turned on QoS download speeds tanked and my ping skyrocketed.

After doing some digging, I discovered that this is a massive, known hardware/firmware flaw and that none of the Broadcom-based Wifi 7 models have working Adaptive QoS. The core issue is that the underlying TrendMicro bwdpi engine itself flat out failing to do proper classification on that platform, which also means non-working Adaptive QoS.

How is ASUS allowed to get away with this?? These products are advertised as having QoS but they have remained broken for what, TWO years now?? They are actively taking money for hardware while knowing a core, advertised routing feature is completely dead on arrival.

Has anyone heard any credible updates on when Broadcom or TrendMicro are going to fix this SDK? Has anyone had success using consumer protection laws to force recompense for false advertising on these Wi-Fi 7 models?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Men’s eyebrows

Any men here get their eyebrows done? I’ve big massive eyebrows that I keep trimmed myself but they’re starting to look a bit boxy and they really need some professional attention.

I’m man enough to admit I need them sorted but not man enough to go into a women’s salon or a “unisex” salon whose customers are 99% women. My wife suggested I go to the place she goes (iBrow) but I’d be morto. I want to go to a place where there is someone who regularly does men’s eyebrows, and it’s just men in there. Manly men men. Basically I want to feel comfortable.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.
