Upgrade Decisions

Hey all,

I’d like a bit of advice and input please. I’m a relatively new BBQer. I was gifted an old Weber Kettle - no fancy self clean etc. just a well used, sturdy grill that has taught me loads. I’ve done lots of grilling (whole chickens/ thighs / steaks / leg of lamb/ ducks etc). I’ve made some amazing meals on this bad boy. I’ve tried my hand at some low and slow (pulled pork) and had fairly good results.

Now my question is this: do I upgrade the kettle to this:

https://www.wowbbq.co.uk/weber-master-touch-c-5755-slate-blue-1502204?\_gl=1\*16t8qu1\*\_up\*MQ..&gclid=Cj0KCQjwjIPSBhCCARIsABGyK7vG3Dhhw7Dgr1hA3KhfltRPRbxe1RGWRwYV--fGHhMvOgVCoPQVgdcaAq\_8EALw\_wcB&gbraid=0AAAAAD\_mCyMSvcxbYMMWM2Lbrr43zE2fm

Or do I go a new direction (low and slow) with this:

https://proqsmokers.co.uk/products/proq-frontier-bbq-smoker

I only have the budget for one.

My gut feeling is go for the smoker and keep using the Weber Kettle for my regular cooks.

I’d love to hear input !

Thanks in advance.

Likely Miscarriage

Just returned from an appointment with my wife. Week between scans and no real development (around week 6 we think). We’ve struggled with infertility due to PCOS. Fertility treatments didn’t work for a long time and finally my wife fell pregnant. She had some discharge which prompted an early scan. This showed a gestational sac and suspected yolk sac along with a chorionic bump. Scan a week later showed no development.

The doctors and nursing team all said to it’s likely a miscarriage and to prepare ourselves for the worst. Just don’t know where to go from here.

Any success stories please ?

Thanks all.

Daily walker… starting to give up hope!

Hey everyone,

I’m in a massive rut hunting for a pair of all day walkers. I love a walk and often do 10k steps a day and am often on my feet all day. I’m hunting for comfy, no thrills walker that isn’t ugly as sin.

I’ve purchased both Clifton 10s and Bondi 9s. The Clifton’s really made my right foot collapse inwards. I could feel it and it was visible when walking. I then purchased the Bondis and thought I’d cracked it but after a longer test they also caused (only my right) foot to collapse inwards. I’m guessing I have mild pronation on my right and the high stack isn’t kind to me. I’ve tried Asics Nimbus, Cumulus and Kayano 32. Also tried some Cloud Runners that I didn’t get on with and also Nike Vomero Premium.

Maybe I’m just too fussy ?

Could anyone recommend a shoe that could help?

Thanks in advance :)

Montreal - Week in October Advice

Hello all,

My wife and I are planning to visit Montreal for a week at the end of the October (coming from the UK). We’re lovers of coffee/ food / hockey /city exploring but also have a real desire for the ‘Canadian Cabin’ experience.

I’m thinking about flying in and driving straight to somewhere in the Laurentians. I’d love some advice on cosy / fun towns with a good range of accommodation.

Upon our return to Montreal, we’re looking for 5 days in a central location so we can explore on foot. A Canadiens game is a huge added bonus !

Any advice on the above is much appreciated.

Sizing Help - At my wits’ end !

Hello all,

I’m after a pair of trainers that will mostly be used for long walks, days on my feet at work, travelling and the occasional 10k+ city day.

The problem is that I’ve realised I’ve probably been wearing shoes that are too small for years (holes in toe boxes, sore toes after long days etc.) and I’m now struggling to work out what “correct” actually feels like.

My foot measurements from a Hoka foot scan are:
Left foot: 279mm
Right foot: 276mm
Wide forefoot
Medium arch

I’ve been trying the New Balance Fresh Foam X More v6 in both a UK 10 and UK 10.5. The UK 10 feels more secure and slightly better when walking around the house, but my big toe feels very close to the end of the shoe.

The UK 10.5 gives me approximately a thumb’s width of space in front of the toes, but there is a little more movement and some creasing in the toe box. My smaller right foot seemed to feel it was ‘gripping’ a bit when walking.

My questions are:
Based on those foot measurements, would you generally expect me to be in a UK 10 or UK 10.5?

How much space do you realistically aim for in a walking shoe that’s going to be used for 10k–20k step days?

I’ve tried Hoka Clifton 10, ASICS Nimbus, Brooks Ghost, NB as mentioned above. I think maybe now it’s more of a mental thing than anything !

Any thoughts from people with similar foot measurements would be appreciated!
