Is there anything that genuinely made you sad in Mewgenics?

When I was in the >!bunker!<, I got an event with a helpless kitty that was sad and crying. And the outcome of that event that I got was the team killing the kitty and stealing its last posession (its small fish snack).

I can't forget the image of the kitty laying sad and dead on the ground. It's just a game, but oh my god...

I know that the game is generally unforgiving to cats, but at least they disappear down a pipe, get eventually revived (if downed) or they just explode (if actually killed) so you don't have to see/read their suffering.

Finally managed to do this. What next?

After multiple failed runs, I finally managed to beat Dybbuk with that cursed parasite from Guillotina 2 and unlocked the Throbbing Domain.

I'm honestly considering what should I aim for next - trying to beat the third Guillotina, getting the rest of the completion marks (only missing both marks on Thief and the Dybbuk mark on Necromancer), trying to beat Throbbing Domain or moving onto the Act 2 areas.

When will enough be enough with avatars?

At first, you could only have your character with some clothing on it, and then avatars kept getting progressively bigger and bigger, and today I see a massive sign floating like 10 studs above every second avatar that keeps blocking my view.

Are there even limits as to how much space can an avatar occupy, or is Roblox going to end up like VRChat when anyone can upload any 3D model as their avatar and be able to troll with "avatars" that crash your game when it tries to load them?

Why do people tolerate predatory monetization in MMORPGs?

Let's take WoW for example. They have a subscription that's about $15/month, which is OK on its own. Server hosting needs money to upkeep and there are also costs associated with update development.

Then, you need to pay $60 (or more!) for each DLC that is released. While Blizzard does give older DLC for free, most of the playerbase and current hot content is in the paid DLC, so you have to pay $60 extra every year or 2 on top of that $15/month if you want to enjoy the "cool" stuff. You could argue that both of these models combined can still be OK, after all it's a hobby and it's not like there isn't a lot of older DLC content that is unlocked with "just" the paid subscription.

And then, in the latest DLC that got released a few months ago, Blizzard got greedy and slapped a third monetization model on it - paid premium currency. There's now Hearthsteel in the game, which you CANNOT obtain in the game and have to pay separately for - on top on the subscription and the DLC cost.

How many different monetization models can be crammed into a single MMORPG before players just say "no" and stop supporting it? Why do players support the addition of Hearthsteel, a predatory paid currency to a game which is already quite expensive to play? You can already see players on r/wow defending this and saying stuff like "it's not mandatory".

Jak to může Mountfieldu neustále procházet?

Všude vidím všelijaký zákony a nařízení EU ohledně falešných slev (kde prostě vezmeš nafouknutou cenu za kterou se produkt nikdy neprodával, přeškrtneš ji a produkt dáš za normální plnou cenu), ale i přes to Mountfield pořád jede "MEGA EXTRA ULTRA VÝPRODEJ VŠECHNO S 50% SLEVOU" kde ani jedna "sleva" není opravdová a nic se neděje.

Jak je to možný? Kdy už se tenhle podvod konečně zatrhne?

PSA: If you ever see someone telling you to download the Vietnamese version of Roblox, DON'T do it

Basically, once you download the Vietnamese version (Roblox-VNG) to your phone and log in to it with your Roblox account, that account will become permanently VNG-locked, which essentially means that:

  • You won't be able to use the normal Roblox app for mobile. You will be forced to download and use the VNG version once your account is VNG-locked, as logging in with a VNG-locked account to the normal app does not work.
  • You won't be able to buy any Robux, or use non-Vietnamese Roblox gift cards/gift card credit.
  • You will be forced to use VNG's support instead of the global Roblox support.
  • You will NOT be able to chat with any accounts that aren't also VNG-locked.

And it's nearly impossible to get rid of a VNG lock once it has been applied to an account. Personally, I've only heard of a very few cases where VNG support successfully removed an user's VNG lock - either they're fake or it's an extremely rare thing to happen.

So please, if you see someone on Tiktok or somewhere else tell you to use the Vietnamese version of Roblox, do not listen to them unless you want to end up with an annoying restriction on your account.

Why is the NYC subway route/line labelling system so weird/convoluted?

In all metro/subway/underground railway systems around the world that I've seen, you have a number of lines labelled with a letter/number/name, and each line has its set of stations that the trains go between. The exact set of stations that the line serves never changes, except when there's construction/work being done or when stations are opened/closed down.

And then you have NYC, where "line" refers to the physical railway infrastructure and a set of stations that it connects, and they're called by the street that it serves, and for some reason the old subway company that operated it pre-MTA from the middle of the 20th century. For example "IND 9th Avenue line" (probably not an actual line, but it's the same format).

And then you have services, i.e. the actual trains that serve a line or even a combination of lines. The lines that a service uses aren't constant, they change depending of the day of the week (and maybe even the time). They're divided into Division A and Division B, Division A being numbered services and Division B being lettered.

From what I understand, the "bullet" that a service uses is based on 3 things - the actual number/letter identifier, the color which is based on the main line that the service uses, and the shape - circle for "normal" services, and diamond for "express" services.

I might have probably gotten some things here wrong, but that's not really the point - the point is to ask why is the line/service system so weirdly complicated compared to most (if not all) similar systems around the world? Is this due to some ancient/legacy stuff from the old subway system in NYC?

Why are payment processors allowed to refuse service to people/groups that follow the law?

I constantly see headlines about services now banning certain lawful content because Visa and Mastercard said so, and there's nothing that they can do about it, because without their services it's basically impossible for them to receive money.

Why are payment processors not regulated like utilities are? It's not like an electricity provider can shut power off to a law-abiding and paying citizen.

Options for an European player that wants to try the game?

Unfortunately it seems that for some reason, EU players are permanently banned from ever creating an ID to log in to the official servers (iRO). From what I've seen, I basically have 3 options:

  • The "European" official version of the game which is owned by a Russian company and seems to be badly managed,
  • using a VPN to somehow get around the ban and create an iRO ID,
  • or ditching official entirely and playing a private server, of which there are a lot of.

I've never really played RO before so I want to try the "vanilla" version first before I delve into any servers with crazy modded stuff, buffed rates on everything, etc.

Which one of those options should I go for? Or is there another option that I'm not aware of?

ITV Quiz

A v neposlední řadě ten gambling.
