Given nothing but the statline, who is the worst player? (Part 10)

I randomized a roster for BYK players, after every season I'll eliminate the worst performing player according to the community. For an added twist I'm not revealing any player's names until after they're eliminated, so for the sake of comments the first player in the screenshot order is "player one", the second is "player two", so on so forth. Simply comment which player in the lineup you think is the worst, and vote for other comments who mention that player. Whichever player receives the most combined upvotes after 24 hours will be replaced with another random Backyard Kid, and the cycle repeats until we find the (theoretically) perfect Backyard Baseball team. Just for added context, I'm playing this on hard difficultly with pitch/swing location off and errors on. I try to play to each player's strengths, and I don't use batting powerups so all of the batting statistics are authentic.

The home stadium will also be different every season; this season was played at Cement Gardens.

The order of the players in the screenshot is randomized, so don't assume the same player will be in the same lineup slot season to season for the sake of voting. Angela Delvecchio was voted as the permanent pitcher in a previous season; she is Player Four in this screenshot, she is the only player exempt from being voted out.

Previously eliminated players: Gretchen Hasselhoff, Ronny Dobbs, Kenny Kawaguchi, Billy Jean Blackwood, Kimmy Eckman, Jocinda Smith, Annie Frazier, Lisa Crockett, Ricky Johnson, Dante Robinson, and both Webber twins. Who will join them?

Given nothing but the statline, who is the worst player? (Part 9)

(First time posting in a few weeks because I was on vacation)

I randomized a roster for BYK players, after every season I'll eliminate the worst performing player according to the community. For an added twist I'm not revealing any player's names until after they're eliminated, so for the sake of comments the first player in the screenshot order is "player one", the second is "player two", so on so forth. Just for added context, I'm playing this on hard difficultly with pitch/swing location off and errors on. I try to play to each player's strengths, and I don't use batting powerups so all of the batting statistics are authentic.

The home stadium will also be different every season; this season was played at Tin Can Alley.

The order of the players in the screenshot is randomized, so don't assume the same player will be in the same lineup slot season to season for the sake of voting. Angela Delvecchio was voted as the permanent pitcher in a previous season; she is Player Four in this screenshot, she is the only player exempt from being voted out.

This roster has Ashley and Sidney Webber, and both twins are buffed when they're on the same team. Votes for Ashley and Sidney will be counted separately as they would be for any player, but if either twin receives the most votes then both will be eliminated.

Previously eliminated players: Gretchen Hasselhoff, Ronny Dobbs, Kenny Kawaguchi, Billy Jean Blackwood, Kimmy Eckman, Jocinda Smith, Annie Frazier, Lisa Crockett, Ricky Johnson, and Dante Robinson. Who will join them?

UPDATE: Sidney Webber was voted out, thus voting out Ashley Webber as well. Ashley was Player 8, for the record.

Given nothing but the statline, who is the worst player? (Part 8)

I randomized a roster for BYK players, after every season I'll eliminate the worst performing player according to the community. Angela Delvecchio was voted as the permanent pitcher in a previous season; she is Player Three in this screenshot, she is the only player exempt from being voted out.

I'm adding an additional wrinkle this season. This roster has Ashley and Sidney Webber, and both twins are buffed when they're on the same team. Votes for Ashley and Sidney will be counted separately as they would be for any player, but if either twin receives the most votes then both will be eliminated.

Previously eliminated players: Gretchen Hasselhoff, Ronny Dobbs, Kenny Kawaguchi, Billy Jean Blackwood, Kimmy Eckman, Jocinda Smith, Annie Frazier, Lisa Crockett, and Ricky Johnson. Who will join them?

EDIT: Can’t say I’m surprised to see Player 6 go, Dante Robinson has been eliminated.

EDIT: Player 9 out, Lisa Crockett wasn’t long for this team.

EDIT 2: The next random player was Ricky Johnson. Through five games his OPS is well under half of the next worst player. I’m not gonna waste a post on him, Ricky Johnson has been eliminated.

Given nothing but the statline, who are the TWO worst players (part 6)

(reuploaded because of an error in the original post)

This is the sixth post I've made in this series, if you need context you can find it here.

Because this season's worst player is so blindingly obvious that only allowing one elimination would be redundant, I'm opening this season up for a double elimination. Each commenter can mention two players, the two players with the most combined upvotes will be cut.

Just for added context, I'm playing this on hard difficultly with pitch/swing location off and errors on. I try to play to each player's strengths, and I don't use batting powerups so all of the batting statistics are authentic.

The home stadium will also be different every season; this season was played at Cement Gardens

Previously eliminated players: Gretchen Hasselhoff, Ronny Dobbs, Kenny Kawaguchi, Billy Jean Blackwood, and Kimmy Eckman

EDIT: The sole commenter voted for players 6 and 9. I completely agree with their decision, Annie Frazier and Jocinda Smith have been eliminated.

Gretchen Hasselhoff, Ronny Dobbs, Kenny Kawaguchi, and Billy Jean Blackwood have already been eliminated. Who will join them?

Given nothing but the statline, who is the worst player? (Part 4)

My default pitcher will always be the player with the best pitching stats (normally I reveal which player is my default pitcher but I'm making a one-time exception this time, see comments for details)

The order of the players in the screenshot is randomized, so don't assume the same player will be in the same lineup slot season to season for the sake of voting.

I know that some players are buffed/debuffed based on factors such as the home stadium or other players on the roster. I randomize the home field every season (this season was played at Eckman Acres), and I'm taking a hands-off approach to the roster and letting the randomizer do the work for me. If a player is buffed/debuffed because of who else is on the team, so it goes.

EDIT: There’ve been no comments other than my own after 20ish hours I’m gonna make my own choice here.

First point of order, the vote to make Angela Delvecchio the permanent pitcher got 3 Yeses to 1 No, so Angela Delvecchio will be exempt from future voting. She’s the only Backyard Kid in BYB ‘01 with a perfect 10 pitching stat and she’s one of the better power bats to boot, if the goal of this experiment is to find the best team it would be a bit silly not to have her on the bump. She also never received a single elimination vote in the four seasons she’s been on this team, her numbers speak for themselves.

As for the elimination, in lieu of comments I went based on the stats and my experience playing with each character. Player 1 joined the team after the second season and they’ve been on the brink of elimination every time. Player 1 is a slow player who can’t hit past the infield which in my experience is a death sentence in Backyard Baseball, and I think their .435 SLG and sub-.800 OPS reflects that.

I’m cutting Player 1, Billy Jean Blackwood has been eliminated

Given nothing but the statline, who is the worst player? (Part 3)

I try to play to each player's strengths, and I don't use batting powerups so all of the batting statistics are authentic. My default pitcher will always be the player with the best pitching stats, which this year was Player 3.

The order of the players in the screenshot is based on the lineup for the last game of the season and has nothing to do with preceding seasons, so don't assume the same player will be in the same lineup slot season to season for the sake of voting.

I know that some players are buffed/debuffed based on factors such as the home stadium or other players on the roster. I randomize the home field every season (this season was played at Playground Commons), and I'm taking a hands-off approach to the roster and letting the randomizer do the work for me. If a player is buffed/debuffed because of who else is on the team, so it goes.

Thus far Gretchen Hasselhoff and Ronny Dobbs have been voted out of the lineup, who will join them this time?

I know that some players are buffed/debuffed based on factors such as the home stadium or other players on the roster. I randomize the home field every season (this season was played at Steele Stadium), and I'm taking a hands-off approach to the roster and letting the randomizer do the work for me. If a player is buffed/debuffed because of who else is on the team, so it goes.

Gretchen Hasselhoff was eliminated after Season One, who will join her?

Results: I'm not surprised at the elimination, but I'm surprised how close the vote was. Players 6 and 7 each had two comments in favor of their elimination, but the comments to eliminate Player 6 received more combined upvotes at the 24 hour cutoff mark.

Player 6 has been eliminated, the community has eliminated Ronny Dobbs.
