Some of the most successful people I know are also incredibly miserable , why ?
Lets not get anything wrong here , being a neet isnt sunshine and rainbows , but In some ways its quite freeing . Society considers me one the greats when it comes to being a loser , but I can enjoy a nice sunny day or play video games or read manga and be somewhat alright . The existential dread kicks in sometimes but I swat it away eventually .
But the successful people I know , despite having a house , family and a good cushy job , are miserable as fk . And im not talking miserable here and there , miserable 24/7 . Cant enjoy anything without complaining about something . Some of these people look down on me as well , and criticise me , but when i just shrug them off , they just get irrationally angry . If you were that happy , why would you go out of your way to kick someone who hasn’t done anything to you ?
I can tolerate people shit talking me , but not when they do it to my parents
People can say whatever they want about me , I don’t care , but when they talk shit about me to my parents and make them feel miserable , it pisses me off . The worst thing is I cant do much about it . I cant make my parents thick skinned or shut those people up .Only thing I can do is tell them to avoid people like that . Scum bags . People lack humanity .
ZAI said "hold my beer" and dropped a MIT licensed flagship the day after the Fable/Mythos shutdown
Interested in the community's take on this.
The US govt just issued a restriction control directive yesterday and Anthropic is forced to suspend access of Fable 5.
Today, just a few hours ago, Zai released GLM-5.2, their X saying "The future of AI is open, and it belongs to the people"
It is not even about this chinese opensource model, it is the timing. This seems like a calculated response to the fragility of closed model infrastructure under govt intervention. Whether you agree with the export controls or not, the overnight disruption speaks real risk for anyone building on closed APIs
Some details of this new model to help the context: 1M context (with actual usability claims), long-horizon task capabilities. It is currently through their coding plan, but will open-source next week following the MIT license.
Its hard not to see this as a direct response when leader of the pack gets shut down by export controls. Maybe going open source isn't just philosophy anymore, its a strategic decision? Curious what others think.
Anyone one else's parents loathe them ?
Im not a bad person . Im not disruptive , I help around the house and contribute in small ways with the little money I have . I dont drink smoke or do drugs of any kind . And I have never even asked for money from my parents . But they still despise me because I dont have a job . I have to deal with their passive aggressive taunts and reminders day in and day out .
Recently at a family friends gathering , they were discussing unemployment and everyone was talking about some unemployed person they know and how "terrible they are " . I overheard my dad talking about it and saying these people are leaches and the only solution is to kick them out and everyone was getting so excited talking about how much they despise these types of people , while I was just an earshot of them. Then when talking to me later on , they go back to smiling like nothing happened .
Just imagine that , your own father shit talking you like that . If I had a child I could never even imagine doing that to them .
When my birthday came up , I remember my brother telling my father to wish me , and he just gave him the most disgusted look I have ever seen .
Ive realised that its very difficult for people to relate to us , or even comprehend our situation
Being unemployed for years upon years is not something a majority of people can relate to . For a society where your value and survival is tied to a job , its a completely alien concept . And its also true I cant relate to or comprehend normal people . Having a salary package , meetings , corperate talk that normal people usually go through is incomprehensible to me . And I guess that locks me out of society . Alot of people's life events are referenced with the context of a job , almost intertwined , so withought one , its hard to relate to them .
Even when they smile , or tell you that its tough , I feel like they cant really truly comprehend it . I imagine that for normal people , going through a life where you are worthless in the eyes of society , seen as a burden , used as an example of what not to be , they cant really comprehend that . Or mabye they can atleast understand the concequences of it and the chance that it could happen to them is such a nightmarish idea that their brain just refuses to try and thats why a lot of them are disgusted by us or even fear us . Its like a disease they think they will catch by being near us .
But I think the most painful part is , our personality, who we are as a person , none of it matters to them, all because we dont have a job . I dont know , it seems petty . We live in a sick society , where the wonder , joy, and passion to create is irrelavant to titles , salaries , being a slave to the top 1% . This shit is seen as hounerable .
I guess what im trying to say is , even when a person wants to be empathetic they just cannot . To understand us , you have to go through this situation yourself . Its lonely , knowing that the only people who understand me are on this subreddit , spread across the world in tiny pockets .
Need help , cant tell if this is a Bed Bug
I squished it and blood came out . I also have red itchy bite marks all over my body .
You are only training , AI slop . Even if the feature itself is not super innovative and known a little , the more you explain the better the ai slop gets at copying it .
This also involves being careful what you tell to AI chatbots ( yes they train on your data ) . Your back and forth with the chatbot is used to access whether the chatbot solved the problem or how the user's inputs guided the ai to the right direction which they also use to train.
This also extends to the art process as well .
Remember , these companies are only trying to profit off your hard work and actively take away the soul behind games . Dont let them do it easily .
Edit: I dont get whats so difficult about understanding the simple message ( dont sell your competitive edge) .
