Tesla mobile app missing superchargers around London??

Hi all, I was exploring prices of the closest superchargers and I have noticed a lot of superchargers I knew are not appearing (e.g, Westfield White City, A4, Park Royal…), are you facing the same issues? I have no filters enabled for this behaviour?

Simplest app to find cheaper chargers around?

Hi, I have downloaded a few apps and I found always the same pattern of missing a filter by price or a simple button to find the cheapest charger within a range / speed preferences, all the apps I found make you tap individually in each charger in a map which is tedious to find a cheap charger around… so am I missing something? Any good app for this?

Stability Model Y Premium RWD Long Range?

So I think I’ll go for this model in the end via salary sacrifice (good deal and initially a big gap to jump to the AWD) however just saw a review saying that you really need to be careful in the wet (e.g. roundabouts) as the back can get moving… is that true? I was expecting good stability in all circumstances except maybe heavy snow/ice… any experience driving in bad conditions?

Cleaning white perforated seats?

Hi, I’m trying to make my mind with the colour of the seats for a model Y premium… I really like white/light interiors and I think in a Tesla look great however practicality having young kids might be an issue… I’m not the type of person that often is cleaning his car and while previous models with non perforated/ventilated seats seemed to have an easy cleaning with a baby wipe I don’t think that’s the case anymore due the little holes…

What’s your experience with the “new” white perforated/ventilated seats they put in the highland and juniper models?

PCN due a restricted road some days/hours but without a sign at the entrance of the road

I would like to get some opinions about what grounds I might have to fight back for this fine…, these are the circumstances:

Main road with two straight lines however as I approach to an intersection I noticed all cars were stopping in the distance and a traffic jam being formed, without thinking too much I decided to turn left, the road doesn’t have any signs that you can’t get in… as I’m in the road (residential road) soon I find a sign about a restriction some days of the week and some times of the day, having cars behind I just slowed down to try to read the conditions… but while realising I was like 20min too early to go through I don’t want to slam the brakes for the cars behind…and just after crossing the signs I use an entrance to turn around…. Looking later in google maps I found a reference in the other main road like 800yards before the intersection mentioning about the restrictions turning left (at that point with the road being 40mph I even didn’t consider to turn left and read all the details..).

Do I have any grounds to get it cancelled?, in my opinion at the entrance of that road or in the intersection itself should be telling about the restriction, additionally once in the road I had no “safe” way to turn around before the sign and I did immediately after it (less the 4meters after it where I found it safe).

Beyond that… I think is big joke the whole restrictions by days, times etc, so much text to read and realise if it applies or not while you’re driving 40mph with more cars around… even at 20mph is ridiculous have to almost to stop the car to read all the conditions, check the time it is etc…never seen anything like that.

Salary sacrifice early termination insurance (Octopus)

So I’m exploring if to go with one of the models offered at work via salary sacrifice with Octopus and there a few things that keep me on the edge related to early termination (in case is needed):

- They book says 50% of the remaining to be paid in case of early termination… (I assume this means return the car and pay it as a settlement)?
- They put there a few reasons that might be eligible (at their full discretion) including resignation and redundancy but only after 3months of the delivery of the car.

So what happens if you job make you redundant before the 3 months? Does the notice period counts (e.g having 3month notice). Also what about their discretion, it seems like signing a contract without the terms settle m, which in the case they just simply decline means being without a car and having to pay a large amount!???

I guess as a follow up question is there any insurance you can get from your side similar to what happens with gap insurance?

Octopus Salary sacrifice possible with EU driving license?

Hi all,

After have seen some mix feedback around leasing options while holding a EU license and have seen how Tesla providers only work with the UK driving license I wonder how it goes with Octopus, did anyone manage to get it with an EU license or you had to exchange it for an UK license to go ahead?

Any impact for switching accounts?

Hi all, I’m considering to switch accounts from Barclays Premier to HSBC premier given they give £500 for the switch as far as I understand and the family travel insurance sounds handy… however after have been with Barclays for many years I’m wondering if I will miss any loyalty advantages, at this point I get 1K free overdraft and often get pre approved loan offers (I haven’t used). Also wondering how quickly I could change /get back if not happy (e.g. banking app).

Foundation models for Xcode intelligence?

I’m aware of some of the capabilities of the foundation models when used within your apps but given that capabilities and all we have seen with SiriAI, is there any of that applicable to Xcode itself beyond autocompletion?, in my head that would be much easier than other things they are already doing giving it’s a controlled knowledge (Swift, SwiftUI, Apple guidelines etc), for sure Claude etc can do a great job (I have a pro subscription to Claude and exploring some great agents from the community) but it just feels this was a great use case for their AI, thoughts? Am I missing anything?

App indie business, what AI subscription to help?

So after many years developing apps for others plus some hobby side projects I have decided to go ahead and try to build something commercial by myself, given I have a full time job, family etc and limited resources (I’m building by myself to start…) I’m looking to see how AI tools can help me to move faster developing or cover other things I have less experience with (e.g design a flyer, business plans…) based on all of that I’m wondering what subscription could be a better fit:

- OpenAI: I used it a while ago before the agentic trend and found it good but with a lot of old swift knowledge / not following the latest guidelines while for ideas it seems to be a people pleaser…. Probably lots have changed with codex and 5.5 though and it includes image generation which could be handy for some marketing stuff

-Claude Pro: I have used for a month recently and code output was quite good using the agent… overall seemed to understand good my intentions, the app idea etc however still some practices were not so pure Apple as I would like to (probably easy to fix with some skills) and overall I was running out of tokens after half an hour/1h and have to wait 5h… additionally no image or video generation capabilities…

Gemini pro: I haven’t tried it but seems tempting beyond coding thanks to the image, video and sound generation capabilities… however I heard 3.1 pro and 5.5 flash(this one very fast!) do not produce coding outputs as good at OpenAI 5.5 or Claude… and in terms of token it seems to use more than OpenAI and probably close to Claude…

So…wondering which one go for, any thoughts?

Any experience applying for PCH with an EU driving license??

So I finally decided to go for a model 3 and while going though the paperwork for the application I’m seeing the dropdown only offering UK Full license or full NI license, any experience for those of you with a driving licence from a European country? , btw application is with Santander

For those of you that chose a lease… did you notify the leasing company while travelling through Europe? Any objections? Fast process for approval? Any differences between lex and Santander?

Experiences with third party guarantees/ car dealerships?

Hi all, so tracking options I have seen prices clearly change the moment the car passes the 4 years and 50K miles.. and assume a lot of you are beyond that threshold so wondering if you have any third party guarantee and how has been when you had any issues, I’m not too concerned on mileage age as more of the cars I consider are minimum 2021-2022 but wouldn’t want to have a bad experience in terms of maintenance if I keep the car 2-3 years..

Is Warrantwise any good? I saw several dealers offering that, I also saw some others like “the lovely car company” which seems to offer full non battery guarantee including suspension work or “db automotive” which also mentions steering guarantee, any experience with these?

Public charging…recommendations for subscriptions or similar?

Hi all, considering an EV as next car and as initially I don’t have a charging point in the car park of my building so I’m exploring the options… I think probably could get approval to install the charger however giving I’m renting, don’t have to drive for work and likely most of my miles will be in roadtrips (UK and Europe) i consider if worth the hassle or if to just rely on public charging. In terms of location, I have the classic shell recharge nearby, bp pulse, Sainsbury’s fast chargers, some other 7kwh and Tesla super chargers like 20min away… based on that… any cards/subscriptions would you recommend? What about installing the charging point?

If it helps likely I’ll go for Tesla, so not too concerned on long trips.

Thanks!

For those with kids… what car seats do you have and how do you find the available space?

So a bit of a practicality oriented post…. As mentioned in the post would love to hear about how you deal with kids in your Tesla, I assume those with the model Y or Model X will say there is plenty of storage in the trunk but would like to hear also beyond about things like space for the car seat (ideally mentioning the model you use as I know some are bulkier), prams(ideally mentioning the model too) etc, those with more than one little one, edge cases like 2kids and 3 adults, long trips etc… very curious to see how much difference is the 3 vs the Y

Thanks!

What would you choose? 70K miles AWD or 45K miles RWD?

Wondering what and why you would choose one over the other:

2023 RWD 45K miles base specs (white with dark seats) but still with almost a year of manufacturer guarantee…

2022 AWD 70K miles with a good specs (blue with white seats) and 1 year guarantee of the dealer…

I think in the RWD the extra piece of mind with manufacturing guarantee is very appealing as aside of the lower mileage you can arrange and end of guarantee inspection and hopefully get all in great shape. In the other hand the AWD specs are tempting with the white seats, extra power and sense of safety of the AWD system but at the cost of mileage and a guarantee that often can bring more headaches to get things sorted or directly said is not covered.

Thoughts? I forgot to say but I’m referring to model Ys in case it’s relevant and likely will keep the car around 3 years with a mileage around 6-8K/year.

Car history?

I’m wondering if it’s possible to check what work had a car done in Tesla centers/guarantee, is this possible? I think can be useful to understand if has some common issues resolved or even to see if it it’s a bit of a lemon car with constant visits for repairs.

After have seen another post mentioning lots of problems with his/her model 3 it standout the high costs of steering issues:

  1. Steering & Alignment (£3,864.24)

• Steering Gear Assembly, RHD (Part): £2,077.08
• Steering Rack Replacement Labor: £623.70 (3.78 units @ £165/hr)
• Steering General Diagnosis: £524.70 (3.18 units total across visits)
• Four Wheel Alignment (Multiple Checks): £297.00 (1.80 units total)
• Steering Column Service & Interior Trim Adjustment: £165.00
• Post-Repair Validation Test Drives: £165.00 (1.0 unit total)
• Associated Hardware (Nuts/Bolts/Washers): £11.76

How common are these in a Model Y! Any particular year where those problems were resolved? Are they possible to spot in a inspection (e.g Cleevely end of guarantee)?

I think this is the car with lowest range so wondering what’s the lowest amount of miles you’ve seen in motorway use (trips) at a legal speeds. Would you say you always can do 2hours of driving ahead stopping to charge? Did you find better stop frequently. Having little kids (under 2) wondering how much worth is the extra range of the AWD version.
