[Rolex Polar or Omega Speedmaster]

Explorer II Polar vs. Speedmaster White for my 40th?
I’m turning 40 and can’t decide between the Rolex Explorer II Polar and Omega Speedmaster White Dial.
I love both and eventually plan to own both. The Rolex seems better for my lifestyle as an everyday watch—work, travel, pool, beach, etc.—but I love the history and look of the Speedmaster.
If you could only buy one first for a milestone birthday, which would you choose and why?

[Discussion] Why do people buy Longines?

What makes someone choose a Longines in the first place?
I think one of the main reasons is the value proposition: the quality you get for the price is hard to ignore. But is that the whole story, or do people genuinely connect with the brand because of its history, heritage, and place in watchmaking?
I’m also curious about how Longines is perceived within the watch community, especially when compared with competitors such as Tudor, which often has stronger brand perception and better resale value.
Do people buy Longines because they genuinely love the brand and its watches, or is it sometimes seen as the more affordable choice before eventually moving toward brands such as Omega or Rolex? How much do resale value, status, movement quality, and market perception influence that decision?
Longines has an impressive history, attractive designs, and strong overall quality for the price, but I would like to hear how owners and enthusiasts truly view the brand today.
Is Longines a final-destination brand for you, or do you see it as a step toward something else?

[Question] How do reputable dealers determine whether a watch is a Frankenwatch?

I’ve noticed that many dealers accept trade-ins and later resell those watches. How do they verify that all the components are original and correct for that specific reference?

Do reputable dealers open and inspect every watch, verify the serial number and movement, or is a Frankenwatch sometimes only discovered when it is sent to the manufacturer for service?

Longines Owners: When Do You Service Your Watch?

I’m curious about Longines service intervals from actual owners. Longines recommends servicing mechanical watches periodically, but I’ve seen very different opinions online—some people suggest every 5 years, while others wait until there are noticeable issues like loss of accuracy or reduced power reserve.

[Ghost] or [Speedy]? Ignoring price and resale value

I’m curious to hear what the community thinks about these two pieces from a purely aesthetic perspective. On one side, there’s the Rolex “Ghost,” with its more modern and luxurious look. On the other, the Omega Speedmaster Professional, a watch with an iconic design and one of the strongest histories in horology.
Putting resale value, brand prestige, and specifications aside, which watch do you think is more beautiful and why?

Longines OEM Clasp L639166100

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a Longines HydroConquest (ref. L3.788.4.90.6) and I’m looking for the original OEM rubber strap and, especially, the deployant clasp (ref. L639166100).

Does anyone know where I could find one, even used? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I recently found a publication with one rubber in Amazon that look good but i want to find the original Clasp

Zulu time vs Tudor BB GMT

I want to buy a GMT in that price range, and I’m trying to decide between the Zulu Time and the Tudor Black Bay GMT. I’ve had both on my wrist and really liked them. I already own a HydroConquest, and even though I love the Zulu, I’m not sure whether I should go with the Tudor for a bit more variety in my collection.
