Old bath trap and overflow are brass and copper! Can I change to plastic?

I need to move this bath out, which butts up against the old bathroom wall, to access the floorboards the other side, as I’m replacing the flooring in the bedroom the other side and want to get to the joists.

Anyway, I still want to use the bath temporarily while it’s moved out (albeit very carefully).

The hot and cold water is easy, I’ll just buy a bit of Speedfit PEX, but I obviously need to attach to the old waste and overflow temporarily. No doubt imperial widths and measurements, so I doubt I can get modern metric plastic to join on, but I thought I’d try!

It’s not the end of the world if I cock it. The bathroom is all getting ripped out and replaced after these bedrooms, and my best mate lives next door so I can shower there.

Is this price likely to be beaten by local merchants?

I’m replacing my upstairs flooring with this soon. This is by far the best price I’ve found online.

Wondering if it’s worth pulling the trigger or faffing around with local merchants who don’t seem to have T&G 22mm ply on their websites.

Has anyone ever had EWI and moved their windows outwards?

This is such a niche area and extremely difficult to find information on, so I’m hoping there’s one or two out there who know about this.

Basically EWI is quite well known obviously, but it seems most just have a thinner bit of EWI turned into their reveals to butt up to the windows frames.

But apparently this throws away a lot of heat as even though the old window reveal has a small layer of EWI, it’s still a bit of a cold bridge.

The best way is like in this drawing I found on an old forum post, where you bring your windows out, so it’s proud of the original building.

Anyone had any experience doing this? What are your thoughts, etc?

T&G chipboard vs T&G plywood to replace old floorboards?

As I want a no holds barred, no regrets quality to my whole house renovation, I’m willing to pay extra to have that extra bit of luxury feeling. At the same time, I don’t want to just waste money on seriously diminished returns.

So is plywood worth the 3x cost of chipboard flooring?

As I understand it, as long as chipboard is glued and screwed, and the edges finished on noggins between joists, it’s absolutely solid, no creaking etc.

But does plywood give that extra strength feel which makes it worth the money?

For those unaware, this guy did a beautiful series of YouTube vids debunking all the allegations.

Anyway, in light of the drama whipped up by the media on the movie’s release day, involving the lying Cascios, he’s now about to drop a brand new vid debunking these latest ones!

They seriously need to address the allegations in the next movie and use this guy’s points to debunk it all!

For those who haven’t seen the videos already

I just paid £220 for the DCB104 DeWalt charger.

It’s a beast with fans inside blowing the second you start charging. Probably because the current draw generates a lot of heat, as these batteries charge like lightning fast!

Still sore about £220, and worried it’ll blow up in a year’s time out of warranty, but for now weeeeee, simultaneous fast charging across all batteries.

What’s your most crazy DIY tool/accessory purchase?
