Do repair costs ever go way over quoted price?

We got quotes to do some needed repairs to our new house and the seller agreed to give us the full amount of credits requested. Now I'm feeling extremely nervous that the roof repairs will go way over quote. We'll be in serious financial trouble if that happens. Has that happened to anyone here?

Edit: We do have savings, I'm more concerned it will go $5k + over quote

Any of these look good?

I have this breakfast nook and I really want a small glass top table but I can't find a cute one anywhere. 1 and 3 are the same table with different chairs.

Anyone else married to/in a relationship with a hoarder?

My husband has hoarding tendencies, which I'm sure he got from his dad who is a really extreme hoarder of vehicles and other junk.

My husband always buys too much of everything and abandons it in a drawer or stashes it in a corner somewhere. He starts 'projects' and leaves them unfinished for years. He buys furniture that is way too big for our home, or we just don't have space for.

At first he was good about throwing stuff away and things never got too bad, but I find him getting worse as he gets older and can afford to buy more stuff. Anyone else dealt with this? Did you find anything that worked?

What color rug would you put in this space?

I've been looking at wool rugs and a lot of them are white with black accents, or grey. But I feel like that might look weird with the warm tone of the room. Edit to add the eventual couch will most likely be brown leather

My sweet Pancake fractured her jaw :(

My 16 year old lady had a lump on her jaw and it turned out to be a fracture. Now she has to get antibiotics injections. Taking care of an elderly beardie is hard emotionally and financially, but I'll do anything for my sweet girl

Feel like we shouldn't have told anyone until we closed

My spouse and I found a house we absolutely loved, made an offer and had it accepted. We've been wanting to buy for years. Naturally we told our parents and a few friends, who were all very happy for us. My parents told everyone they know so I had random family members texting me congratulations.

Now it looks like we'll have to back out due to the home needing repairs that we don't have money for and I'm regretting telling people, cause now I just feel like a failure. Not really sure how people are expected to have $30k lying around for repairs after making a 20% downpayment.
