19F went on a chaotic 9 hour first date with 20M, we cleared things up over text, then he ghosted after I asked if he still wanted to pursue things — did I overtext or were there already red flags?

Met a guy on Hinge, we texted daily for weeks before meeting — long, personal conversations, he shared vulnerable things about family and therapy, said he liked texting me, seemed genuinely interested and relieved when I agreed to meet. I'm shy and introverted and told him multiple times I get overstimulated easily, that meeting new people takes time for me, and that I prefer getting to know people before anything physical.

First date lasted almost 9 hours in extreme heat with no real plan. We walked around for hours with nowhere specific to go. By hour 4 I was completely burnt out and exhausted — I hadn't slept beforehand either. Throughout the date he kept checking in asking if I wanted to leave, worrying I was going to ditch him. I didn't want to be rude or hurt his feelings so I kept reassuring him and staying, even as I got more and more depleted. That dynamic made it really hard to speak up when things got uncomfortable later.

He did ask before some things like holding my hand and waist, but I was too intimidated and conflict-averse to say no even when I wasn't comfortable. He also touched my thigh without asking first. By hour 4 I was so exhausted we just sat in a café where I laid my head on the table. Then we took the subway and a train back toward his place. On the train, exhausted and barely functioning, he asked if he could kiss me — I said "maybe" and he kissed me, then tried again shortly after. He also messaged his parents on the train asking if I could come over, and they said no, so we had no real plan when we arrived. We ended up just sitting awkwardly in his car with nowhere to go. He later admitted he felt I wasn't into him during the date and that it made him feel really sad.

After the date I texted apologizing and explaining that everything felt too fast and that public affection isn't something I'm used to. He asked if I'd be more okay with it if we weren't in public. I said it was still too much too fast and that I'm not into hookup culture — it had felt like things were heading that way. He responded with "valid" and asked follow up questions but never clearly said he wanted another date, and then communication basically stopped.

About 3 days later I sent him a message saying I probably should have said this sooner, but I realized I never gave him a direct answer when he asked if I liked him in the car. I explained I was so overwhelmed that day and didn't want to be rude so I just evaded. I told him I genuinely missed talking to him, that I thought we had a lot in common, and that I do like him — I just needed time to figure that out.

He replied quickly and said it also seemed like I wasn't interested when we were hanging out, and asked what I needed time to figure out and what I actually wanted. We ended up having a really honest conversation — I explained I got really intimidated, that I freeze up because I don't want to be mean, and that I usually need time to process things before reacting. I told him I've usually only dated people I was already friends with first so this was all pretty new to me. I asked what he wanted, and he said he wants something long term but thought I only wanted to hook up so he was also fine with that. I told him I want something long term too and that FWB stuff has really messed me up before. He said he thinks I'm attractive, that he was into me, but didn't know if I was into him or just messing around. Things felt warm and resolved by the end of that conversation.

After that I got anxious and sent a few more messages — asking if he was genuinely okay with taking things slow or just being nice about it, and whether he still wanted to pursue things. I also sent a follow up saying I know it was a lot but I genuinely want to see where things go and that I've probably seemed all over the place but a lot of that was me being overwhelmed and overthinking. He never responded to any of it. It's been 3 days of complete silence since those messages.

Not sure if I overtexted and scared him off after we'd already cleared things up, or if he was never that serious to begin with.
