Someone needs to get their hands on this device and see how well Motioncam Pro works on it, to see if honor unlocked DCG for third party apps also if third party apps can access the Arri color science.
I built this rig to deal with the biggest drawbacks of using MotionCam Pro. Shooting in RAW creates massive files, and recording in DirectLog pushes the phone hard, so keeping it cool is just as important as having enough storage.
The device is the Vivo X300 Ultra, and the app I always use is MotionCam Pro.
Since MotionCam Pro enables smartphones to record true RAW video, the resulting files are enormous. It also requires active cooling to maintain stable performance during extended recording, something most smartphones lack.
I built this rig with practicality in mind rather than as a showoff piece. .
I've been using the Vivo x300 Ultra for over three weeks and this is what I have to say about origin OS.
We all know origin OS is butterly smooth and looks cool but that aside, these are my critics
OriginOS still has a long way to go before it can match One UI in terms of customization, automation, and overall reliability.
Some of the things that really disappoint me:
You can't customize theme packs.
You can't select and drag multiple apps from the app drawer to the home screen at once.
You can't have a completely empty home screen page just to admire your wallpaper you need to leave at least one app on it.
There's no automation or routines. I can't tell the phone, "Whenever I plug in my charger, automatically enable bypass charging."
I also can't create a routine that says, "When I launch CODM, switch the refresh rate to 144Hz, then switch it back to 120Hz when I close the game."
*The UI is really inconsistent and doesn't have a unique feel to it
*Widgets can't be resized (Very annoying)
*The device just doesn't work the way I thought it would.
*Another major bug I found on this device is when you are in landscape mode, in a game for example and you drag the status bar to have a uicl glance on the apps notification, time or whatever, you can't swipe up back for that status bar to close,it has to close few seconds later this is so annoying especially when I play games.
*Also My Vivo X300 Ultra constantly bugs out whenever I connect an external SSD. It restarts so often that it's become incredibly frustrating.
*Last but not least, you can't use many system apps in landscape mode or can't even rotate the home screen to landscape mode.
There are a lot more but I hope vivo addresses these major issues
And those are just a few examples. In 2026, routines should be a standard feature on every flagship smartphone.
Yes, OriginOS is smooth and fluid, but there's more to a great operating system than smooth scrolling. It's the smart features, automation and minute things that really define an OS today.
Then there's the camera. It's not optimized at all. The camera app is a battery hog, which is especially disappointing because the camera was the main reason I bought this phone. Seeing such poor optimization in the one area that mattered most to me honestly makes me question whether I made the right decision.
I'm not here to piss off any vivo fans but truth be told, origin OS has a long way to go compared to other well thought OS
Peace out ✌️
Been playing around with DCG on the Vivo X300 Ultra for the past few days, and honestly, it’s a total game changer. The quality is damn good, closet a phone CN get to a professional camera but man, it definitely comes with some caveats right now.The biggest issue is the random exposure spikes (you can see it in the attached video). I’m not sure if there's any way to curb this yet or if it's just an instability thing for now.Another huge annoyance on the Vivo is that you can’t lock the exposure mid record without DCG completely breaking/deactivating because of how opmodes work. For the Pixel 10 Pro owners out there since Google actually unlocked DCG at the system level for you guys, can you actually lock your exposure during a recording and keep DCG activated? and does it glitch out for you too?
Huge props to the devs though, always gotta give them their flowers because what they pulled off here is honestly unfathomable. It’s just a bit unstable atm.
Hello Devs,
Does MotionCam Pro natively support the Vulkan graphics API, or does it only support OpenGL?
My Vivo X300 Ultra (16GB/1TB, Chinese Version) just arrived! First impressions + a few questions
My Vivo X300 Ultra (16GB/1TB, Chinese version) finally arrived! I'm currently using the base Galaxy S23, so these are my first impressions and I have a few questions for those who are more familiar with Vivo.
*I'm completely new to Vivo's software, so I'm honestly a bit lost. 😅 I bought it from Wonda Mobile, and they opened the box to install Google services and Android Auto. However, there are still a lot of Chinese apps pre installed. Which ones are safe to remove using ADB or Canta?
*I'm based in Western Europe. Does Vivo Care or any form of Vivo warranty work here for the Chinese version? 😂
*I use MotionCam Pro (the greatest camera app ever made, in my opinion). One of the biggest reasons I bought the X300 Ultra is because it's arguably the best camera hardware available for MotionCam Pro. The Raw video and log quality should be absolutely insane across all lens.
*I'm not getting rid of my Galaxy S23. It's still aging incredibly well, and I barely game on my phone anymore. I also can't leave One UI completely. That said, Samsung really disappointed me this year, keeping the same 3x telephoto lens on the S26 Ultra was one of the biggest reasons I decided to try Vivo instead. If Samsung gets it right next year, I'd happily upgrade to the S27 Ultra.
*I'd really appreciate any tips and tricks for getting the most out of this phone. Gone are the days when I'd spend hours tweaking every little setting. I'm not that young anymore. 😂
* I love Vivo's hardware. The IR blaster brought back memories of my Galaxy S6 Edge. Since I have the 1TB version, does the satellite connectivity work in Europe, or is it limited to China?
*And wow... that periscope camera is absolutely massive. Vivo outdid themselves this year, shame on Samsung.
I'm still setting everything up, so it'll take me a while before I can give a proper review. I'm just figuring out how to get rid of all the unnecessary bloatwares
P.S. One thing that's surprised me is the battery life. So far, it's been draining much faster than I expected and I haven't even done anything demanding yet. Coming from the base Galaxy S23 (I've never owned a Galaxy Ultra), I didn't expect to say this about a phone with a 6,600mAh battery.
I don't know if it's learning my usage patterns like Samsung devices does, If that's the case, great. If not, I'd really appreciate any battery optimization tips from long term Vivo users.
Thanks.
Hello guys, quick question, Vivo x300 Ultra vs Oppo Find X9 Ultra which is superior overall for Motioncam Pro.
I know the Vivo has DCG across all lens, don't know about the Oppo, what else do I need to know before I make a decision?
Thanks
Got an M3 Max today at a discounted price. The only issue is that the display is slightly misaligned. I only went ahead with the purchase because it still has AppleCare+ for a few more months.
I've already booked an appointment with Apple. Does anyone know if they'd replace the entire display for something like this, or do they usually just adjust/replace the hinge? I'm new to AppleCare+, so I'm not sure how they handle issues like this.
P. S: I hate this space black or whatever the name is, Apple should bring back space grey.
Hello devs and fellow Motioncampers, I can't really get Motioncam tools to work on my mac, I've cleared cache, deleted everything in library/app support and preferences and reinstalled the app from the official website, still can't decode a mcraw file.
P:S Sorry for the tilted video
After months of using a friend's studio key and learning resolve studio, finally pulled the plug and got my key.
Got all these unreleased songs, haven't listened to half of em, damn!
Yea the Devs weren't joking when they claimed they've improved the noise reduction engine. On the stable v4.0.5-pro version, when noise reduction is applied, it takes a significant amount of time for me to render even a sec video, yea a sec video and I know it varies and depends on your device GPU horsepower, BTW I use a base S23 and didn't want to upgrade cause it still runs fine, so I got a MacBook Pro M1 Pro, got Davinci Studio all to make my workflow faster but this latest beta 4.9.4 - pro, I'm seeing a significant difference in rendering time when Noise reduction is applied, this is insane, it feels like my phone has a dedicated rendering engine or something, hats off to the Devs!
