A little Mangalore appreciation post :)

Kinda long bare with me hahah

Born and brought up here, I’ve always had a soft corner for this place. And sometimes it’s the smallest things that remind you why you love your city.

Over the past week, I took Rapido autos quite a few times, and two experiences genuinely stayed with me.

The first was a female Rapido auto driver. She was genuinely so sweet and hardworking. Seeing a woman being independent, earning for herself and confidently doing this work was honestly really heartwarming..... it made me especially happy to see that she felt safe enough to do it here.

The second driver was another really sweet person. I had kids with me, and he had a little foldable chair in his auto. He actually took it out and opened it so one of the kids could sit comfortably. Such a tiny gesture, but it was so thoughtful.

Later, he noticed the fare had gone up because Rapido had apparently taken a longer route. He himself told me to pay less than what was showing on the app, even though I was completely okay with paying the amount.

Nothing huge or extraordinary. Just two small interactions with two nice people. But these are exactly the kind of things that make you appreciate a place.

I’ve been in Mangalore my whole life, and honestly, I really admire this city. We have our traffic, roads, rains and endless things to complain about 😂 but there’s something about the people here that makes Mangalore feel like home.

Just wanted to put some love for Mangalore on this sub for a change. ❤️

I finally registered at a gym! 🎉💪

It may seem small, but for me it’s a big step. I’ve been saying “next week” and “kal se pakka” for too long, and today I finally acted on it.

I’m starting my weight loss journey because I want to feel healthier, stronger, and more confident. I know it won’t be easy, but I’m ready to stay consistent and focus on progress, not perfection.

Right now, I’m just excited to begin this new chapter and see where it takes me.

Here’s to small beginnings, sore muscles, and better habits. Wish me luck! 🍀💪

Not trying to make this deep or anything, just curious what people are actually doing because this sub is mostly NUCAT posts now.

Wanted to hear something from people already in college for once.

Today I took an auto from Yeyyadi, and it reminded me why I generally have such good experiences with auto drivers in Mangalore.

From a distance, the driver looked a bit grumpy, and I instantly judged him (my bad 😭). But he turned out to be one of the sweetest people. When we reached my destination, he handed me the change, smiled brightly, and said, "Thank you, happy Monday!"

It was such a small interaction, but it genuinely lightened up my day...

I use autos quite often, and honestly, I've had a lot of positive experiences here.

I know people often share bad experiences online, so I just wanted to put a good one out there. Shoutout to the auto drivers of Mangalore for making someone's Monday a little better.

I can only imagine the kind of stress they deal with every day—rising fuel prices, traffic, long hours, and the pressure of making enough for the day. Yet, a lot of them still take a moment to smile or exchange a few kind words. It's such a small gesture, but it can genuinely brighten someone's day.

People who got married and started living together, how did you adjust to the awkward phase? 😭

Like suddenly there's barely any personal space. Bathroom routines, weird habits, wanting alone time, accidentally walking in on each other... all that random everyday stuff.

Did it just become normal with time or did you both have to set boundaries? Would love to hear some funny or awkward stories too.

Looking for a chill place to hang out with friends that has games like Uno, Jenga, board games, etc. There used to be ItsMangalore, but I heard it's permanently closed. Did it reopen somewhere else under a different name, or are there any similar spots in the city?

Looking for recommendations for places that do good acrylic nails at reasonable prices. Nothing too fancy, just want them to look neat and last well without being super expensive 😭

Would be nice if the place is student-friendly too. Drop your suggestions and approximate prices if you know them 🫶
