my sd card was dead and i had no idea but the cam still had the footage??

alright so some bloke reversed into me at a coles car park last week. nothing major just cracked the bumper but obviously he tried saying it was my fault. went to grab the footage off my n5 dual to send to insurance and the sd card was completely cooked. like the cam wasnt even writing to it anymore and i had no clue how long that had been going on. nearly lost it. then i remembered something about built in storage when i was setting it up months ago. checked the app and the clip was literally just sitting there. the cam saved it automatically onto some internal memory. i dont even fully understand how it works i just know it saved my arse. does everyone know about this or was i the only idiot who didnt read the manual lol

Anyone here move to DDPAI after your old dashcam gave up?

My current dashcam has started acting up, so I've been looking at replacements.

I wanted to know it from real users who switched from another brand. And this sub caught my attention.

What made you change?

how much of a pain is hand wiring a dashcam if ur never touched ur car's fuse box

currently running mine off the cigarette lighter port which means no parking mode and i keep seeing people say handwiring is the way to go problem is i genuinely dont know anything about cars beyond putting gas in it and checking oil when the light comes on been looking at switching to a ddpai since it support handwiring out of the box but is this something a normal person can do it themselves with video tutorial or am i going to mes up my fuse box and regret it also worried about voiding and warrantly stuff by messing with electrical side of things it worth just paying a shop to do it instead and roughly what does usually cost?

Which Ddpai dashcam would you recommend for daily commuting?

Hello everyone,

I'm here to clear up my confusion about dashcams. Basically, I was going through the Ddpai dashcam models, and they all look very similar to me now. I've spent a long time researching them, and at some point, they all start to look alike!

My driving is mainly work-related. I only drive to work, do some house-related chores, and take a few weekend trips. I'm asking owners of multiple dashcam models, or others who are familiar with them, for a recommendation on choosing a camera that is dependable for everyday driving.

I don't want to spend the most money, but I do want a camera that provides a good balance in terms of features and practicality.

Any input would be greatly appreciated before I make my decision.

Is upgrading from a 1080p dashcam to 4K worth it?

I've 1080p dashcam for about 5 years, and it's been completely fine. It records, saves clips, and has never given me any problems.

What got me thinking about it was a clip I saved recently. Nothing major happened, but when I went back and watched the footage at night, I realised I couldn't make out nearly as much detail as I expected. It got me wondering whether I'd be able to read a plate or identify a car properly if I ever needed to.

Now I'm wondering if that's how dashcams are at night, or if a newer 4K model would do a better job.
For those who have upgraded, was there a noticeable difference? Not looking at spec sheets or marketing claims, but actual day-to-day footaage.

Why are walking pad apps always the weakest part?

I’ve been looking into walking pads lately, and the app side is weirdly frustrating.

A lot of the actual machines seem decent, but then the app feels outdated or only does the bare minimum, like speed control and not much else. If I’m going to use a walking pad regularly, I’d want the app to actually save workouts, show useful data, and make tracking progress easier instead of feeling like a random remote.

I know I could just use an Apple Watch or Fitbit, but I’d rather have the machine and app sync properly so the workout history, distance, speed, and other data are all in one place. It would also be nice if the official app didn’t need another expensive subscription just to unlock basic tracking.

Maybe I’m overthinking it, but I feel like the app experience would affect whether I keep using it after the first few weeks.

For people using walking pads, do you actually use the brand’s app to track workouts, or do you just rely on Apple Watch/Fitbit/phone tracking instead?

What changes can help me stay more active while working remotely?

Hi guys, I started my new job 2 months ago, and so far it’s going well. I work as a software developer, so I spend most of my day sitting at my desk for long hours. Work and projects tend to pile up, so I don’t get a lot of spare time to go for walks.

I made some changes and got rid of my old desk. I got a standing desk from Vernal because I hate feeling sluggish, and I tend to switch between sitting and standing every 30–40 minutes. I’ve felt and noticed better focus.

Originally, my plan was to go on walks after work and use standing during work hours to stay a bit more active. But lately, by the time I finish work, I’m so tired that even leaving my apartment to go for a walk feels like too much.

So now I’m thinking of getting a walking pad along with the standing desk because I’ve heard it helps with movement. For those who work from home, do you actually use a walking pad? And are there any other changes that helped you stay active?

Any suggestions or tips would work.

What is something you do now that your younger self would laugh at?

A few years ago, if someone told me I'd be excited about a good vacuum cleaner, cheaper insurance, or finally finishing all my laundry, I would've laughed.

Now those things genuinely make me happy.

I compare utility bills, get excited when groceries are on sale, and somehow end up talking about back pain with friends.

The funny part is that it didn't happen all at once. There wasn't some moment where I suddenly became an adult.

One day you're staying up until 3am for no reason. The next thing you know, you're looking at mattresses online and getting annoyed when someone puts a drink on the table without a coaster.

What's something you do now that would've made your younger self laugh?

Beta testing events on reddit are interesting

I’ve been a beta tester for a few digital products and software but I honestly thought the whole "beta" thing was only for apps until recently.

I started seeing posts for physical hardware too. There was an LG monitor program a while back but the entry process was way too long so I missed out. I actually managed to get into the CyboPal ONE program which is cool but they only give out one unit a month so it's a grind. Some people say the post requirements are a lot but honestly, compared to some of those "tag 50 friends" giveaways, it’s not that bad if you actually want the gear.

I've mostly done software testing before this, so I'm trying to find more hardware opportunities. Does anyone know of other beta programs going live on Reddit right now? I’d love to get my hands on a keyboard.
