Height when sitting ?
I have a really hard time finding the perfect height when I'm sitting.
I just keep adjusting it by a few centimeters each time. I'm 1.69 meters tall, and I keep going back and forth between desk heights of 73.5cm and 74cm I'm not really sure
What do you recommend? I've checked out those famous websites for “calculating” it, but they don't really work for me.
Any suggestions on turning this into a standing desk?
I’m currently trying to figure out how to turn this into a standing desk with out tearing anything out, does anyone have any suggestions? Also sorry for the mess, in the middle of cleaning right now, and haven’t figured out where I want to put the stuff in the top row
I converted a spare bedroom closet into my Mac desk setup. Really love the space now
Vari prodesk for 250 good?
I Found this desk on Facebook marketplace. It is a vari prodesk 48x30. A new one off their website is 799$. Is this a good desk and worth 250. The person selling says he has had it for 2 years and no problems with it.
Is this a good price?
So my budget is about 300 for a good standing desk that is large (at least 70 inches) and I was originally planning on getting one from Amazon, but after doing some research, I realized that they will probably suck because they come in 3 pieces, they can’t hold that much weight and and they don’t go too low.
So I found this one on Facebook marketplace. It goes super low and super high too. There’s also no tax. We agreed to do 325$ cash.
So yea is 325$ a good price for a Fully Jarvis 30 x 72 standing desk?
OCD worried standing desk screw might negatively affect desk
Hello, as post mentions, I do suffer from OCD and acknowledge I'm likely participating in a compulsion as I post this but I just finished building a standing desk and am worried one of the screws may be slightly crooked.
- Should I screw it in more to try and equalize it? It seems like it won't go any further but wondering if I should try to keep screwing it?
- Is there any concern about this affecting the structure of the desk going forward?
- Should I remove the screw and rescrew?
Thank you everyone, sorry if this seems silly.
Uplift desk accessories
Hi,
Planning on buying an uplift desk for general ergonomic improvement, but curious about people's experience of the accessories. Things I'm considering:
Main desk - curved (bamboo) or straight?
Surge protector - net plus to have it? Can it go on the sides?
Alternatively the Power Strip - doesn't have a surge protector but probably I only need two outlets for now. Can it be mounted anywhere on the front if it's under the desk? Experiences with it under or on top?
Shelves - in the near term I use have one monitor, but might be nice to have some shelves for desk knickknacks, maybe the 1 + 2 shelf combo?
Keyboard tray - this is probably my biggest question. I'd like the keyboard relatively low, but can't decide between just setting the desk low (and having a big monitor stand) or using a keyboard tray and the desk not as low. Experience with the keyboard trays anyone? Which ones? (Keyboard tray I suppose forces me to sit further back / need more space in my cramped office area so maybe leaning against this, esp. with the curved desk)
A drawer for pens, chargers, misc equipment - the desk drawer or the slim drawer? (off to the side.)
Plus a file cabinet.
Any comments or thoughts or experience or advice would be welcome!
Balolo - do they make desks, or just accessories>
Following a recent renovation, I'm looking for a new walnut sit-stand desk, plus monitor shelf and all the usual accessories to make a comfy, quality and long-lasting setup. The thing is, I've found Balolo's offering, but cannot for the life of me see if they are also selling desks - or whether it's purely accessories (like their Setup Cockpit, etc).
I'm UK-based, so I suppose it's possible they do make the desks but simply don't ship them here?
My home office in Honolulu
I was working at a coworking space. most of my time, but recently they announced they’re shutting down the location. Today is actually the last day. I bought the desk from them for $250, but then ended up getting all these other items I needed, including monitors and monitor stand and monitor arm and MacBook stand. Overall, I’m really happy with my setup. Just thought I’d share.
stuck on the 2 leg vs 4 leg standing desk debate
i'm helping my younger brother pick out his first standing desk and somehow i'm more confused than when i started. every 2 leg vs 4 leg standing desk discussion seems to end differently
some ppl say 2 legs are more than enough unless your setup is huge. others say a 4 leg standing desk is the only way to go
what made u land on one instead of the other? was it stability, how much gear u had, or sth else i haven't thought about?
What do you use the third preset for on your standing desk?
I have set one button on my desk for sitting and another for standing, but I am not sure what to save on the third one.
I know its just another customizable height, but I only work alone usually switch between the same positions. I was thinking maybe lower height for writing by hand, a walking pad height later on or just keeping it for someone else who uses the desk.
Do you guys use all 3 presets?
Is there really a difference between them all?
I’m from Aus and looking for a new standing desk, and after all my research of everything is there actually a big difference besides Magnus, Desky, Flexisport.
Am I missing something major or is really just down to what is the most aesthetically pleasing for the office look I’m going for?
Looking for advice on desk for my apartment
Hello, I need some advice on a desk for my setup. I dont know if I want a standing desk or a regular one. I currently have a laptop which I want to mount on an arm or on a stand, and im looking into ultrawide monitor on an arm (thinking g9). I would also like to have a small shelf or monitor riser to mount my galaxy tablet. In the future I will add a workstation tower, would like to be able to mount it under desk.
The nook I want to install it is 64 in wide and 22.625 in depth, it then goes 10 and 3/8in deeper but at a width of 55 1/8 in.
Any advice ?
I've been looking for a desk that I had at my old job for a month... Can't find it.
It had a... Not a keyboard tray (I loath keyboard trays)... a section of desk meant for your keyboard. It was exactly the same as the rest of the desk, about 1.5" thick, and without the gap to the rest of the desk it would be exactly like the rest of the desk. This little section of desk could raise/lower/positive tilt/negative tilt. It was a hydraulic release to raise and lower and the tilt was a big hand driven machined screw to tighten and lock it in place. If you had no tilt set and had it at the same level as the rest of the desk it would be as if it didn't exist other than the air gap.
I want this back so badly and I've searched through 1000's of images looking for something that is even close to similar and I have been unsuccessful. My old job was a corner desk that had this, but I'd just be looking for a straight on square version.
Does anyone know what this would be called? It's not a tray, as describing it as such just yields the wrong search results, so I've been calling it a independent ledge. Has anyone seen this desk or similar? It seems to be an old design that has been lost in the abundance of the new standing desk design.
Bought a standing desk thinking I should stand all day — turns out the real goal is switching positions frequently
When I first brought my standing desk, around Christmas las year, I assumed the whole point was to stand as much as possible. I'd force myself to stand up for long period, but it wasn't comfortable and it didn't fit all tasks. This lead to that I didn't use it at all instead. So I did a bit of googling and the research is quite clear that it's not healthy to stand for long durations either. The important thing is to change position frequently and to add a few movements breaks.
This is the routine that works for me now:
- Sit for about 30 minutes.
- Stand for about 20 minutes.
- Move around for about 5 minutes.
I'm a developer so I built deskrhythm.com to help me stick to this cadence. It's completely free and runs in your browser if you like to use it as well.
Would you use a temporary work surface over your main desk setup?
I’m affiliated with a small team exploring an early standing desk concept. Not selling anything here — no link, no signup. Just trying to sanity-check whether this solves a real desk setup problem.
My desk is usually set up for computer work: desk mat, keyboard, mouse, laptop, and other daily stuff. But when I need a clean surface for paperwork, sketching, devices, or a temporary task, I usually have to clear everything first.
The idea is a sit-stand desk paired with a larger rolling utility cart / dock. The top panel of the cart can be lifted off and placed over the main desk area as a raised second work surface. When you’re done, you lift it off and put it back on top of the cart.
The point is to get a clean temporary work surface without moving your keyboard, mouse, laptop, or normal desk setup.
Would this be useful, or would you just clear the desk and move on?
Need a good standing desk
I'm looking for a good standing desk that has a lot of room and is decently cheap. my budget is around 100 with 160 at max, I've seen some at this price but they look like they are made from cardboard. I'm aware this is a low amount for a standing desk but I really just want something that is height adjustable, can hold an entire pc setup, and has room so I'm not cramped. preferably minimalistic like a sleek black vibe that isn't doing to much or looks like its for a child.
Uplift desk cable management
I wanted to create a more robust cord management channel for the Uplift V2 desk, especially considering the metal bar at the back does not give a good spot for mounting. The cable routing they provide is open at the back, and while you can cable manage with velcro, it still leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion.
Therefore, I created this. This organizer has multiple areas where you can attach velcro straps to (long ovals) holes for power plugs, and USB cables on either side (this would be for the power cables to the motors for the desk) and slots for routing cables up to the desk. It fits relatively well, but does need some spacers for the slim metal bars at the top. This is currently a screwed in model, but with enough 3M sticky tape I think I could get it to stay.
The only thing I need to account for is a power transformer block, as some of those could get pretty large (around 100 mm / 4 inches) which would make it a bit taller. The individual cable routing slots on the angled size are 8mm. Is there anything else I should account for? Is there something essential I am missing? Give me your edge cases!
Desky Aus - Melamine long term reviews
Looking for real world reviews from anyone who has had the Desky Melamine desk top for a while, how is it holding up, any bowing or sagging, any issues with quality?
Really just wanting to make sure that there will be no issues with bowing or sagging when loading the desk up with gear and monitors on arms.
I’m almost ready to pull the trigger on a Desky but the price difference between the hardwood/softwood and Melamine is a huge leap.
I don’t really need hardwood for aesthetics and provided it’s sturdy enough I’m not fussy on material.
