Chrome parts on cars

So after many years, I’ve determined that the one single consistent trigger to my migraines are when sunlight reflects off chrome parts on cars as I’m driving.

I take varapamil daily as a preventative, so it usually never culminates in a migraine, but I get the aura symptoms (my fovea starts going blind) quite a bit when this happens. If my morning dose was taken very early in the day, and I see these reflections late in the day before my second dose, then I usually end up getting a full on migraine in which case I take rizatriptan after holing myself up in a dark room.

And here’s the kicker: what helps prevent the aura episode from turning into a full on migraine is if I go outside and stare directly at the sun! Yes, that makes it feel better and can often can make the episode go away. My neurologist is speechless. He suggested FL-41 glasses, which I haven’t done yet. Has anyone tried them, and do they work?

myQ Apple Watch app

Is there any way to tell that your Apple Watch myQ app on its next launch will require you to login to the iPhone it’s tethered to?

I had set up the Apple Watch app a few months prior logged in on the iPhone and did everything I was supposed to tested it. Everything worked well a couple of times without the iPhone with me on my dog, walk, bike ride, etc.

Then one day on my way back from a bike ride I went to use the Apple Watch app an it prompted me to launch the iPhone app and re-login, etc. It was effectively useless, and I had to call my wife and have her remotely open the garage door for me, as we don’t have a keypad because we figured going all digital/app-based would NEVER have any issues, because the MyQ ecosystem is so well thought out.

Anyway, moral is to launch your myQ Apple Watch app before you go out without your iPhone, defeating the entire purpose of trying to be a high-tech citizen who relies too heavily on this crap.

Change User screen lag

Is it me or does that Change User screen take forever to appear on startup? Now that my daughter is driving and we are using the car, we obviously have set up own profiles. However, when I jump in the car, the Change User screen seemingly takes forever to appear.

Is there something I can do to speed things up? Standby setting that prevents car from deep sleep setting of any sort? I’ve ‘24 Wind RWD w Tech. Key fobs don’t mean anything, right? Only the profiles and the 1/2 buttons on driver door?

Cheesesteak that's more steak

Looking for a cheeseteak that's not 99% cheese and 1% steak. Remember Sonia's in downtown San Jose or Ace's Philly Cheesesteaks? Like that.

I tried Arby's and I am sure there was steak somewhere in that pile of nasty cheese. Same for Jersey Mike's. I did get a Jersey Mike's cheesesteak and told them to hold the cheese. They asked me twice if I was sure. It wasn't bad, but it exposed how crappy their meat is.

Maybe I need a steakcheese sandwich instead?

Page reloads after switching app

iPhone 16 Pro 256G running iOS 26.5

Filling out a form on a website in Safari (total of 5 tabs open). Form requires a photo to document issue I was having with a product. I was filling out the form for about 20 minutes, as it requires a lot of details and the image/file submit button is at the bottom. I swipe from the top-right to access Control Center, click the Camera icon, take a quick photo, and it was about here that I realized—even though there is a chip inside of my iPhone that can do 600 sextillion megaquadrillion calculations per nanosecond—the poor little iPhone (Safari) cannot for its life maintain the contents of a web form should you decide to—gasp!—dare switch to another app. Safari (i.e., Task Manager), not pleased with your decision to make it the background app for a few seconds, needs to reload its feeble little memory allotment and REFRESHES THE ENTIRE FORM I SPENT 20 MINUTES FILLING OUT.

This is obviously the website's fault for not putting the image field at the top of the form, not the bottom, right? Apple has no blame in this scenario.

What did I do wrong? What can I do right? Since the OS won't change for its user, vice-versa is the way.

WTF happened to Twizzlers?

Just bought some, cherry (artificially flavored). I remember they were good. What I just had tasted like what I imagine spoiled pomegranate and allspice moth balls would taste like.

Abso-f-ing-lutely horrible.

Not sure what's being injected after hours in the veins of Hershey management out there in Hershey, PA, but whatever it is is definitely better than this heinous-tasting, mouth-raping fly-repellent you guys are producing
