Compression legging/tights recommendations? 15 mmHg minimum, preferably 20+ mmhg & will cover stomach.
Going to a convention in a few months, 4 days of being on my feet in the heat, plus flying.
One cosplay requires tights, the other fits I can wear leggings under or with it. I'm plus size and on the taller side, hips being 49-51 in and waist 36-39 in depending on how bad fluid retention is on a given day.
Every time I go to order some I see reviews saying they fall apart after one wash or the crotch will slowly move down to the knees/won't reach in the first place.
Anyone have recs of what is worth buying? I got time to try out a few options and would appreciate any suggestions or warnings.
Discord servers for Mabi that are welcoming to newbies/intermediate players?
I'm trying to get back into mabi after a couple years, but have no one to play with or talk to x_x
Let's talk food, info dumps encouraged
I'm so tired of going to the store spending money on flavorless food & throwing out dishes because experimenting with cooking gluten free turns out inedible so often. Can we share recipes, snacks, quick meals, anything to make it easier to enjoy eating while managing Hashimotos?
My contribution:
I love baking and experimenting with various flour substitutes. Short list of what I've discovered while adapting my favorite baking recipes over the years:
Any GF pancake mix at a 1:1 ratio with bobs redmill one to one flour replacement is the easiest way to get a flour that will *almost* universally fit with any recipe you're trying to adapt. GF pancake mix is sold in bulk at Costco & Sams club, which can make it cheaper.
Banana/pumpkin/moist breads you want 1/4-1/3 of the flour replacement to be a nut flour substitute as it retains moisture perfectly.
Reduce heat by 25-50 degrees (F) and add 1/5-1/4th time to the recipe when baking. Moist breads reduce 50-75 degrees with 1/4th time-1/3rd time added.
You need extra corn starch & baking powder for all gluten free adaptations, less if it's a premade mix, double or triple what the recipe calls for when using plain nut or rice flours.
White rice & Brown rice flours at a 1:1 ratio for all baking. I don't care what the recipe says, don't believe anything that says to use only one. You need both when baking with it.
GF baked goods are only good for 2-3 days on the counter, 1 week in the fridge, and 6-9 months when frozen.
Once you have a recipe you like, get yourself a couple massive mixing bowls & extra baking pans to make it in bulk, then freeze it.
Add more liquids to the recipe, I'm a fan of throwing in an extra egg whenever possible. If everything you bake comes out having a stale texture, that is your sign to up the liquid.
Rodents & bugs
First time home owner, and new to the Midwest. Spring has brought awful odors and bugs into our almost 200 yr old house.
We can't afford a full kitchen renovation, there was a previous mouse infestation and we've found bats hiding out during winter. Bugs are abundant, but have been chilling out a bit, coming up from the basement after removing the old radiators & cleaning out the basement.
Cabinets are at least 50 years old and smell awful, same with the drawers. Before I put in new liners, what can I do about the smell of rodents?
Second to this, what can I do to make the home the least inviting place possible for bugs?
You ever plan out a game, get everything ready, open the project and your mind goes blank on where to start? How do you get past it?
I had this happen a few months ago, and haven't been able to get past it. I have made little games, I know how to use unity, I know how to code, but it's that first week of coding and development in the game engine I haven't been able to get past.
I know if I can get myself going I'd want to do nothing else, but it's like artist/writers block. Once the pen hits the metaphorical paper I'm just staring at the screen.
Men who have a narcissist parent, what has helped you have better adult relationships? How has a friend/partner been able to help?
reddit.comHey y'all, lost a good amount of weight and the loose skin is annoying. Been losing weight slowly to give it time to bounce back, but recently started adding an olay retinol cream as I buy it in bulk at Costco.
Has anyone else tried this? What was your experience?
My experience so far is it does seem to keep the skin from getting the look of being stretched out, it's helped with stretch marks and scars a lot. But I'm not sure if it's good for tightening the skin, like in my head it makes sense encouraging a higher turnover rate will help over time, but I admittedly don't know much about excess skin.
