How's the construction uptown this week?

Have some friends coming from out of town and want to take them uptown for a coffee and stroll on Friday, but are things still a mess? Which streets are being worked on atm? Thanks!

Let's finish this bad boy

Any recs for paint, backsplash, finishing touches? If you hate it at least tell me a joke first! This is a 10k budget 100% diy project. We even built the cabinet boxes and shelves out of plywood. Lots of learning and lots of exasperation.

Delays from manufacturer - what to do

So three weeks ago, I contacted a highly recommended countertop company and sent in my plans for a quote. They stated:

I paid the deposit on May 22. Two weeks later, there was still no templating date scheduled. I called the office 3 times and emailed twice. Finally, they responded and sent our their templater the next day.

I called today and asked when the installation would be scheduled, and they said they'd call in about two weeks to schedule a date.

TLDR: This process is going to be ~7 weeks long instead of the 3-4 in the contract. What can I do here?

Will these get pollinated ok?

I am totally new to this but these little guys will be getting here this week (New Brunswick Canada). I am hoping these trees will provide good storage apples through the winter. I know two of them are triploid, hence the two diploid varities, plus we have a mystery apple tree in the front yard which will hopefully chip into pollinating. Any advice is appreciated for setting them up for success.

Prevalence of abuse/power dynamics throughout history

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I'm curious about the anthropological study of abuse. I'm thinking about today's society where we strive to eliminate abuse at young ages, eliminate bullying in schools, eliminate harassment in the workplace, eliminate abusive and violent marriages, and even eliminate elder abuse. Is this a relatively new phenomenon, or has this been a priority in history before?

I'd be curious to hear, throughout humanity, what were the odds that a given individual would experience significant abusive relationships? For example, was it common for parents to abuse their children? What types of abuse was inflicted, and up until what age? Was it common for employers to abuse their workers? Was it common for humans to be abusive towards their partners? I'm sure there is an overwhelming number of variables here, from different time periods to different cultures, but any insights you have would be so interesting to me.
