about to do my first work experience at a dental practice and I have some anxiety

So I’m 16f and my dad has done a huge favour for me and his friend owns a private dental practice that would be more than happy to take me on. She even said I can ask her about medicine as well as dentistry- almost acting as my mentor which I appreciate greatly as I know work experience at 16 in the medical and dental field is extremely hard to come by.

I have a few worries which i hope can be proven to be irrational:

  1. I don’t have great teeth. I do have an overbite and genetically small teeth and although it has never bothered me, I find myself worrying that I will feel very self conscious about my teeth and that I’m being judged in a room full of people who literally look at teeth for a living! Will it be a big deal and surely they wouldn’t bring it up right?

  2. I have general social anxiety and not great at talking to people especially weirdly, professionals however I cannot pass up this opportunity. What should I expect in terms of what I’ll be doing? Should I prepare? I have no idea what I’m walking into.

I know this isn’t exactly dental related and more education but I’m hoping to get some responses from dentists as well as anyone who has gone through the same process as me to calm my nerves, thanks!

how do I get excited to live again?

I’m only 16(f) and everyday feels like a chore. I wake up and I want to immediately go back to sleep and it feels like the day is too long. Life feels like one big waiting game and I just want to feel something again. What do I even do and where do I go from here. I currently am not in school as I’m at the start of summer (10 weeks) and I feel lonely and almost helpless where I keep wishing a big hole will swallow me for a few months.

What to do?

I’m starting sixth form this year and I’m going to do maths bio chem. I have SO much free time on my hands that I want to start a level content ahead of time, what resources do you recommend? Topics I should avoid doing on my own? Topics I should get ahead on? Any advice will be appreciated as I’m pretty lost thanks!

What should I expect?

My dad (66) has an abdominal aortic aneurysm repair scheduled and as expected I am terrified. I am really bad with hospitals so what would I expect his condition and recovery to be like? Any complications I should be wary of or is it best to try not to think about it?? The size of his aneurysm is 5.6cm and his stress test came back good and so did his ecg and he’s been monitored for this for 2 years as he’s got very high blood pressure so this surgery isn’t much of a surprise but still very nerve wracking.

Hes never had surgery before and I’m worried about the pain he will be in. If anyone has any support or advice it will be greatly appreciated!

iPad vs macbook?

So I just finished my GCSEs and going into sixth form in September to do maths bio chem. I’ve just been offered by my parents to buy one “device” for sixth form and it would either be a new iPhone or an iPad. Currently, I have an iPhone 12 and a macbook but I’m wondering if an iPad would be worth it especially as I’m doing stem subjects only.

If anyone has any pros and cons and what I should do I would appreciate it!

I’m a current y11, humble my expectations so I know realistically what’s to come in the next 2 years

I’m a grade 7,8,9 student and taking maths, bio, chem at sixth form (unique, I know) and I’m looking to get 3As or higher in my a levels. I know I am severely underestimating what’s to come as I see everyone warning y11s of the horrors of a levels especially in stem subjects but if I start learning content over the summer and properly make resources from day 1 of sixth form, will it be manageable?

Let me know if this sounds like too much work or recommend me some good websites/yt channels for me to review over the summer and any other tips/warnings for a levels or things you wish you knew!

Almost chronic neck and shoulder muscle pain.

I’m 16F and for the past 6 months I’ve been suffering from an aching neck and shoulders, specifically the muscles at the base of my head and my upper traps. I have tried different sleeping positions, 2 different matresses, 2 different pillows and every time I wake up with almost a migrainey headache and pain I just can’t shift unless I get in a SCOLDING hot shower for 30 minutes.

Additionally, my traps are physically hard to the touch and no amount of stretching or massage seems to help. I do have an ergonomic pillow but it seems too high for my neck and my other pillow has no neck support in the slightest and I’m just lost.

If anyone has any solutions or ways to manage this please let me know thank you!
