AMH dropped from 0.9 to 0.51 in 6 weeks… would you delay TTC for a dream Italy trip?

I’m looking for some advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation.

A few weeks ago I posted about my AMH level being 0.9. I recently did a retest about 6 weeks later and it has now come back at 0.51. My gynae called me personally and said she really thinks my husband and I should start trying to conceive sooner rather than later.

The confusing part is that all my other fertility testing apparently looks good based on my previous appointment, and she said she’s glad we did the AMH testing early so we know about it now.

The thing I’m struggling with is timing. My husband and I planned a 3-week Italy trip almost a year ago and we leave at the end of August. We’re both very active people and this is kind of our “big adventure” trip before kids.

I desperately want to start trying ASAP because I’m scared of waiting too long, especially with the AMH drop, but I’m also terrified of falling pregnant immediately and then feeling horribly sick/exhausted during the trip.

My gynae said we could also just start trying during the trip, and reminded me that even healthy couples can take 6–12 months to conceive naturally.

I genuinely don’t know what to do. Part of me feels like every month counts now, and another part of me wonders if waiting another 2 months is actually reasonable.

Did anyone else have to make a similar decision between travel/life plans and trying to conceive? Do you regret waiting a little, or regret not starting sooner?

AMH 0.9 at 28 — Feeling Shocked & Looking for TTC Experiences

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to hear about your experiences TTC with low AMH. I’m 28 and my husband is 31. I recently went to the gynae for a regular check-up because we were thinking about starting a family next year. Everything at the appointment looked good, but my gynae suggested testing my AMH just to get an idea of how much time we realistically have and whether we could comfortably “wait” a bit longer.

A few days later, my results came back and my AMH was 0.9. I was honestly in complete shock. My doctor has asked me to repeat the AMH test in 6 weeks (which will be next week) along with an antenatal screen.

Depending on the next results, we’ll most likely start trying ASAP, but I’m wondering what the chances are of conceiving naturally with low AMH. I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences — whether you conceived naturally, how long it took, whether you needed treatment, and what I can mentally/emotionally prepare myself for during this journey.

My cycles are regular and I don’t have any other known issues at all.

Thank you so much
