If you were a parent or a legal guardian, would you spank your child?

I probably would. Throughout my childhood, I remember being whooped twice by my aunt, who raised me, and both times it was because of action I did rather than me being disrespectful. Most of time it was her being stern so her reaction made sense to me. Compared to my mother’s POS ex, who never beat me but would react like a control freak over things I didn’t even do anything wrong to warrant that kind of reaction

——————————————————————————

Editing this since ik I am a vague person because I prefer getting my point across without overly explaining everything and making my posts too wordy (which I’m about to do) . So, to rewrite my initial question: Do you think you would use corporal punishment on your child, even as a last resort or as a reaction to something they did?

I’m reading the replies on break, so I won’t be replying, but I do appreciate both sides and the parents who acknowledge using corporal punishment in the past and are trying to be the best parents they can be.

To clear up a few things:

- I’m not making this post to argue that corporal punishment is good or bad. I’m simply asking who is in favor of it and who isn’t. And if you want to explain (u don’t have to) I don’t mind it
- “This post is karma bait.” It’s not. I also checked to make sure there wasn’t another post on this subreddit that was basically the same as mine. The reason I posted this is because I was rewatching KUWTK -S17 E3, where they discussed Kourtney’s child scratching her nanny in the face. Which led to a heated argument b/w Scott and Corey. (If u watch the show, I know Scott was pissed at Corey for saying he would whip Penelope, but that’s not my main point.) What caught my attention was that Corey was in favor of corporal punishment while Kourtney wasn’t. This is also a common topic I see discussed on TikTok and a show called The Parent Test on Hulu
- The “Would you hit an adult?” argument. I understand the point people are making, but  adults do hit each other whether it’s both people are verbally aggressive, someone reacts out of anger, or someone hits another person for being a dick. Whether if it was right or wrong is determined by the  can 3rd party who either condemned or applauded, so I’m not really sure where that argument is supposed to go.
- When I say “spanking,” I’m using it as a general term for corporal punishment, such as a pop, swat, pluck, spanking, etc. I’m not referring specifically to spanking.
- “I hope you don’t have children.” This is a hypothetical question on Reddit. It’s basically a yes or no question. If you want to explain your reasoning, I have no problem with that.
I get both reasons why people may or may not be against corporal punishment. I know some people use it as a last reaction to something their child did, while others may use it as a way to control their child through fear

iwtl : To avoid being superficial in conversation

I'm 23F and currently planning out my career path. I've been at my job for 2 1/2 years as a way to make ok-ish money while figuring out what career I'm passionate about, until I realized I don't really have a passion for anything. So I plan on switching careers into an industry with opportunities and good pay in my state. And I’m not ignorant of the fact that networking requires more than just getting the right education.

My main problem is having superficial conversations but not being able to connect through shared experiences which I don’t have bc I am a home body & spend most of my time alone, doom scrolling on my off days. Ik I’m Socially disconnected and I only deal with myself. I find myself getting annoyed with my talkative clients sparking a convo about me when I have nothing interesting to say, which creates awkward silence and they keep trying to carry the conversation even though I have nothing to add.

So how do I develop these skills when I have very little experience socializing? Kinda like getting someone's contact info after one conversation and have a genuine connection.

Side note: I do not have a diagnosis or put on medication. Ik I'm putting my business online, but I don't want comments like "sounds like signs of depression" or any other pathologizing comments.

Raised to be Ugly!

As a 23-year-old, I look back at my childhood pictures and think, damn, I had real fucking potential to be pretty. TBH, I wish I'd been taught basic beauty tips, put into some kind of sport (I don't even eat as much now. I just ate out of boredom), and hadn't been a little neglected when it came to my dental and physical health I would've been set. Now I'm spending so much $$$ just trying to maintain appearance and this shit is a pain in the ass to

Why are you into murderers?

Since I can’t ask in the r/morbidquestions due to low karma. My questions are for people that are hybristophilia or have those tendencies. For the most part if my teen years I was into true crime specifically court side of things but often we always get the perpetrators reasonings side but my question are to understand the minority who seek attention from the criminals.

1.) What is it about the perpetrator that makes you drawn into them?
2.) Do you see yourself as a reformer who can help them change their life?
3.) Do you feel that this relationship has become a core part of your own identity?
4.) What is something you wish people would understand about you liking serial killers?
5.) What is your thought process knowing the reality of their victims or the pain their past actions caused?

My questions if you have met or spoke with the criminals:

1.) Does the fact that a partner is incarcerated make you feel safer from physical or emotional rejection compared to traditional dating?
2.) Are you afraid of family or friends finding out, and how do you feel the public might perceive you?
3.) Does your partner's perceived dominance or capacity for aggression make you feel more secure, or does it create a sense of exciting unpredictability? Alternatively, do you feel like the dominant one in the relationship because your partner relies so heavily on you?
4.) What is the most frustrating administrative or bureaucratic hurdle you face to maintain this relationship?
5.) Have you ever felt exploited, manipulated, or used by your partner for money, status, or legal help?

Eva+Avo scalp oil dupe

I am on the hunt for a hair oil that is similar Eva+Avo scalp oil. Since target stop stocking the product, I’m looking for lightweight non greasy scalp oil that helps hydrate my scalp (I tend to have a dry flaky scalp, not dandruff).

Looking for slime that equivalent to slime mart slimes. Although they’re fun to make, I wouldn’t say it slime, it’s more of a clay texture, but I’m looking for brand that makes food slime ingredients that’s ACTUALLY slime not clay.

Btw this is how my slime mart shopping cart slime turn out.

VA - Maritime question

I’m 23F who lives in VA and I'm looking to change careers after realizing I prefer jobs where I have a defined role, work with my hands, and focus on completing my tasks rather than working in the service industry.
I live in VA (757), so I know there are a lot of opportunities in the maritime industry. I'm planning to enroll in a FastForward training program and considering doing trades like coatings technician, electrician, outside machinist pipefitter, sheet metal mechanic and welder.

I'm still deciding, but would really appreciate insight from ppl who work in these fields and interested in learning about other sea going positions

My questions:
Which trade would you recommend for the best long-term job security?
Which trades offer the best opportunities to advance with experience?
Which jobs you think have a intricate work environment, and why?
What does a typical day look like in your trade?
Do you enjoy what you do, and would you choose it again?
