Interesting thing for people who hate smokers or ready to quit smoking

Do you know about Chinese florida water? It's said that when you find smokers around you, you can apply florida water. They will quit smoking after smell it, because it feels like they've eaten vomit. This is due to a chemical reaction.

Shen Yi Jing, the Classic of Spirits and Marvels, a book in China, introduces a strange rabbit, E Shou. It has a human face and speaks fluently. People love to gather around and listen to it, because everything it says is wrong on purpose. It tells you east and means west. It praises what it despises. And the book adds, almost as a joke, that its meat is delicious, but if you eat it, you can never speak a true word again.

We borrowed one trick instead: a room will believe whatever its nose is told. Blending many medicinal and aromatic ingredients, E Shou Incense guides gentle release of persistent habitual urges, soothe irritability and anxiety during withdrawal, and clear the lungs and throat. This is a better and more gentle way to quit smoking.

No two noses are alike

When scrolling reddit or talking to people, they mentioned their families don't like the incense smell that they like. We may consider it as different tastes, but sometimes it's not. A famous example is cilantro. Some perceive a soapy note in cilantro and tend to dislike it, while some feel fresh and herbal.

Medicinal incense is one branch of traditional Chinese blended incense. Last time, I shared the five scents from the Huangdi Neijing (《黄帝内经》in TCM. From the same map, combined with five elements, we can drew a more personal conclusion: when a particular system runs low, the body starts reaching for the scents that answer to it. In other words, a favorite fragrance stops being pure taste and part of you is choosing it for you.

We can do a self-check at home. Do you only love one single fragrance, or two or three notes? It answers that your mind might be asking to be settled, your hands for warmth, your body for rest, or your body needs to move when seasons change.

What material would you add into wearable incense pieces?

We made Manjushri wearable incense pendants recently. It's molded into an eight-petaled lotus. In Eastern symbolism or buddhism, the eight petals stand for clarity of mind and focused thinking. In China, it's common that students carry it. Blended a formula with ground acorus, polygala, sandalwood, agarwood. Have you heard or tried relavant piece beofore? What scent would you add for a focused blend?

Chinese medicinal incense for the fall season

Lots of people always suffer from ragweed season, dry throat, and stuffy-sinus evenings in the fall. Ragweed is the main culprit behind autumn allergies, and a single ragweed plant can produce up to 1 billion pollen grains in one season. Keeping windows closed results in bad air quality indoors. Then improve the environment. Here are incense options that match you.

Qing Geng incense pairs green sandalwood with frankincense, spikenard, and chuanxiong root. If people are coughing or sneezing around you, burning it can make you feel protected.

Tian Gou incense includes cliff cypress, fritillary bulb, Solomon's seal, lily bulb, and figwort root. The scent works for those with rhinitis. The "ahh, I can breathe" feeling is real.

Huan Mao incense stick includes key botanicals, such as cliff cypress, resin, white atractylodes poria, and licorice. Light one if your throat is often scratchy and dry, especially a smoker who coughs every evening in the fall.

Have you heard of the nine Chinese body constitutions? Long Jin incense is designed for 特禀质Te Bing Zhi, the special diathesis constitution, the type marked by allergic tendencies, hypersensitivity to environmental change, and reactions others simply don't have.

Six traditions of Chinese Incense Culture

When humans first mastered fire, incense became intertwined with human existence. Chinese incense culture traces its roots back to the liao‑ji (fire‑offering rituals) of the Neolithic Age. Ancient ancestors burned aromatic plants, believing rising smoke could connect humanity with the divine. From these simple sacred ceremonies, six distinct domains of incense practice gradually took shape: Confucian, Buddhist, Taoist, medicinal, imperial‑court, and folk customs.

From primitive fire‑offering smoke to these six rich traditions, Chinese incense weaves together ritual ethics, spiritual belief, herbal wisdom and folk life. Fragrance has traveled through thousands of years of history and still resonates in modern‑day culture.

New mod here — just started r/ChineseIncenseLovers

Hey everyone! I recently started r/ChineseIncenseLovers, a small community for people who are into Chinese incense, whether that's the history, different materials, traditional recipes, or just enjoying the stuff. There are also traditional formulas, techniques, and knowledge that I think are worth documenting and passing on before they become harder to find.

It’s still very new, so I’m figuring things out as I go and trying to build something that people actually want to be part of. I'm wondering If reposts can bring people? For those who’ve built a subreddit from scratch — what worked for you when you were trying to get your first 100 real members? And what mistakes should a new mod avoid?

Does your incense holder have the oil?

Screenshot from the live. She said the smoke gets through the board, and then it causes oil after long-term burning. Use tissue to wipe off the little yellow stuff. It shows that incense is natural.

Is anyone starting a business from home? Will you be anxious and how do you solve?

Since I started working from home, I hardly go outside and live alone with my cat. I'm very anxious because I have done a lot but received little feedback. Every day I start working after eating breakfast until the evening, before showering. Sitting for a long time is unhealthy, so sometimes I stand up and walk around. Sometimes when I'm nervous and have a headache, I burn incense to soothe it. I went out yesterday, and the mall seemed to have changed a lot. Do you ever experience this? How do you resolve it? Also, although I'm a homebody, it seems like I've lost my social circle.

Anyone else feel like sleep just gets harder in your 30s and 40s?

I was just scrolling a item about fixing this and honestly, it was so spot on.I swear I could sleep through anything when I was younger. Now I can be exhausted and still lie there thinking about work, tomorrow, random stuff… or wake up at 3am for no reason.

I’ve been trying to have a better wind-down routine lately. Less phone, dim lights, and I started burning a natural herbal incense for a little while before bed. I like that it’s more earthy and subtle than the really strong scented incense.

Not saying it’s some magic sleep fix, but the little ritual has actually helped me switch out of “still doing stuff” mode.

Is this just me or does sleep really get more difficult with age? And any advice?

If you’re interested in Buddhism, Taoism, or Chinese incense culture, consider visiting Xuedou Mountain

I recently discovered Xuedou Mountain in Ningbo, Zhejiang, and I think it’s a really interesting place to add to a China itinerary if you’re interested in Buddhism, Taoism, or traditional Chinese incense culture.

The area has a strong Buddhist connection and is home to a huge Maitreya Buddha statue, which was probably the first thing that really caught my attention. Btw, you also can visit wildlife park to see giant pandas.

But what I found even more interesting was the incense culture around the area. You can actually experience making traditional Chinese incense(may need to make an appointment) or sachet yourself, rather than just buying incense from a souvenir shop. I got to learn about some of the incense culture and make an incense sachet by hand, which made the whole experience much more memorable. There are also different forms of traditional incense to explore, including incense sticks, sachets, incense pendants, and other aromatic products. It's definitely a special gift choice for families and friends. For me, it was one of those experiences that felt much more connected to Chinese culture than simply visiting another tourist attraction.

So if you're planning a trip around Ningbo and you're interested in Buddhist sites, traditional Chinese culture, or incense, Xuedou Mountain might be worth adding to your list.

Has anyone else visited Xuedou Mountain? I'd be curious to hear what you thought of it.

Traditional Chinese Herbal Incense — Has Anyone Here Tried “Yao Xiang”?

I’ve been exploring traditional Chinese herbal incense recently, and I’m curious how many people here have actually tried Yao Xiang (Medicine Incense) or other forms of Chinese herbal incense.

Unlike simple fragrance incense, traditional Chinese incense can be made by combining different aromatic herbs according to traditional Chinese formulation principles. In that sense, it has an interesting connection with the broader tradition of Chinese herbal formulation.

I recently came across a line of incense sticks made with traditional Chinese herbal formulas, rather than modern perfume-style fragrances.

What I personally find interesting is the aroma. It’s more herbal, woody, earthy, and subtle than the sweet/fruity scents that are common in Western incense. The experience feels much closer to the traditional Chinese incense culture.

For anyone interested in Chinese Medicine or traditional Chinese culture, I think it’s an interesting way to experience these herbs through scent.

I’m curious:

Have you ever used Chinese herbal incense in your practice, meditation, tea ceremony, or at home?

And if you have, which herbs or formulas do you personally enjoy?

I’m also happy to share the incense I’ve been trying if anyone is interested.

Is it slow living?

Sometimes, I light an incense stick and just watch the smoke until it burns to the last. During that time, my brain stops thinking and I get a short break.
