I was SA in Morocco on holiday, filed fraud claim, Monzo closed my account
I filed a fraud claim on a transaction that I paid when I was out of my mind because my drink had been spiked in a bar in Morocco which I just came back from on holiday and because I used Face ID to pay for it, I don’t remember any of that because I was totally out of my mind completely blacked out because my drink has been spiked He also sexually assaulted me when I was at the apartment and took the money that I had in cash. I’ve already filed a police report in Morocco about this. For that transaction, I claimed a fraudulent transaction with Monzo. They said because I had made that purchase using Face ID, I wouldn’t get my money back and it’s not fraud.
I can take that they won’t give my money back, but then they followed with they are closing my account in September. I told them that this is unethical and this is not my fault. I would never have claimed the chargeback if I thought that I was going to be punished for being sexually assaulted and having my drink spiked, they still got back to me and said that they are still closing my account, despite me filing an appeal and explaining what happened, whilst I was in Morocco, having to deal with all this and having to fly home within just a few days (I got back this morning.) I’m going to try and escalate this in every way possible, although I’m not sure where to start, because I’m extremely upset about this and it’s not fair. Still in distress over all of this. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks so much in advance.
